Coffee @ 33 - Perfect coffee with the perfect pastry to go with it! I cannot remember the name of the pastry but it contained coconut, dates and apples.

I…read morealways say I'm happy with an instant coffee and, to be honest, can never really taste the difference, but after my trip to Coffee @ 33 I feel like that's all about to change... The coffee I had was strong and flavoured like none I had ever had before - sharp, but not too bitter. Sweet, but not sickly. Perfection in a cute little white mug (with a tiny little handle). This place is cool, but still comfortable, with only a few seats dotted around the tiny interior. It's simple, but effective and very much has a modern and sophisticated feel about the place. The staff we lovely and friendly - just as I like em - and were happy for my friend and I to sit leisurely with our coffees and chat, which is nice considering their lack of seating (they could be in a hurry for a quick turnover, but they were not pushy at all!). The food looked to die for, but sadly I did not get a chance to sample any of it this time around. I'll be back to try it, and to grab myself another one of their fantastic coffees. Check it out everyone! It's worth it.

There's only room to seat about 10-15 people at the same time but it's worth making a special trip for the great service, friendly atmosphere and excellent coffee. The beans are ground fresh on site and both the normal and decaf coffee are from the London independent - Monmouth Coffee Co. Coffee. So far, I've tried the espresso, the cappucino, latte and americano and they were all sublime. For those feeling peckish, there's also a small but mouth-watering selection of home-made brownies, muffins, shortcakes, carrot cake and toasties. If only more coffee shops were like this, I'd hop, skip and jump down the street....

After ordering, the bf and I wound up parking our big, bulky selves along a narrow, back counter space in an adjacent, quite small, rectangular room that I'd quickly coined the "laptop library". I think my po-po was almost accidentally backin' up against someone's MacBook Pro. At some point during our stay, I noticed this. So, Mac-dude was either too polite, or too English to tell me to move my goods away from his. Hehe. My perch was directly in front of an open window-ahhhh-so I was able to gaze out at the nearby street and buildings while gulls were crying somewhere off in the distance. The gulls were a very nice touch. What to say about the flat whites? Oh, I don't know. I hate to sound like a "hater", but the bevvies were quite milky with only the slightest hint of espresso to them. Resplendent with fab-o foam art, they looked every bit the part flat white, but didn't really taste like them. What's great about Ground is that the service was spot-on friendly and efficient. I'd be keen on going back and ordering a drip coffee and a snack, and, hopefully, snagging a seat by the window, or, if it's nice out, a seat on the bench out front.

On this trip, in mid June 2025, we'd promised our American daughter a proper British "Cream Tea"…read more.. Somehow, we didn't expect to find it in Brighton, but this was the perfect place for it! After a long walk from Brighton Marina to the Pier, and a lot of shopping in The Lanes, we were ready for an Afternoon Tea! This Tea Shop is in the heart of "The Lanes", a picturesque location amidst brightly coloured shops, cafes and restaurants, in narrow, winding alleyways that make for a unique shopping area. It was lucky we went in at 4.30pm... They close at 5pm, but we were welcomed in as one of the last guests before they announced they were closed. It also meant we not only got a table, but the place started clearing out before we'd finished, so we ended up being the last customers, which was nice. It's a cute, cozy little tea shop, pretty on the outside and inside, with pictures of Brighton on the walls and an eclectic mixture of teapots, milk jugs and cups. It had been many years since I'd last had a "cream tea" and this didn't disappoint. We ordered some fruit scones and some plain scones (both were yummy but I recommend the fruit ones - the raisins & sultanas are really plump and juicy!). We also tried our scones both ways - cream then jam (the Devon way), and jam then cream (the Cornish way)... I'd been brought up the Devon way, but discovered the Cornish way is actually more to my liking! Both were yummy! We didn't buy any cakes, but the cakes (as well as the scones) are made fresh daily and looked delicious. And I must say, the tea itself was fresh and superior quality - loose leaf English breakfast, rather than bagged, really makes a difference. Our server was very sweet and friendly, and then, at the end, since we were the last customers, the shop owner came out to talk to us, and was super friendly and welcoming... She asked where we were from (always fun, as I'm British, but my husband and daughter are American). Despite it being the end of her day, she didn't rush us out at all, and enjoyed chatting with us. The whole thing was a delightful experience.

My guest and I arrived around 7AM on a Monday morning in February, we had just been walking through the streets of North Laine trying to find something open and we saw the sign of this establishment with wide windows and warm invitation. We came in, saw a nice display of breakfast foods and ordered a Halloumi sandwich for less than 5 pounds to split. We also got a cup of tea, which was nice and fresh. Service was quick as we were the only ones inside, the seating - which looked slightly cramped, was clean. The staff had split the sandwich in a perfect half. Each bite was warm, flavorful and played with bright savory notes. Quite a balanced meal that was filling and cheap! I stopped in here hoping to grab a cup of coffee and maybe a bite to eat while working a little bit on my laptop. They have free wifi! You just have to ask for the password. This little shop on the street corner has large windows for some natural sunlight and people watching while you're "working" or just enjoying your meal. There are seats outside as well. I ended spending at least an hour here just relaxing, sipping on my coffee, snacking on my sandwich, and working a bit. I definitely give this place five stars for the great space and atmosphere. Personally, if it was just based on the food and coffee I would probably give 4 stars. Overall, I would be back if I needed a good, clean space to work but am still on the hunt for the whole package of amazing coffee and great food (healthy and vegan options are always a plus, but maybe I'm just picky).
