Dishonest about car repair needed.
I'm from out of town and wanted the source of the vibrating wheel to be discovered/addressed before hitting the hwy for long distance drive. Beyer's staff told me it was a bent rim- and that a new wheel had to be ordered in from a salvage yard. Well, they claimed the part didn't come in on time, and I kept getting "tomorrow"ed over the phone, knowing that I needed to leave town with a roadworthy car days prior. I ended up taking the car to Big O Tires... where they told me it needed only a tire balancing. The source of the vibration, they said, was from a CV joint being replaced on one side and not the other in the front, but that the car was mechanically sound after a balancing and lug nut issue, and the vibration a mere nuisance. I'm getting another car soon anyway and wanted the bare minimum that would make the car *safe* to drive, while also without unnecessary panic for a repair that is not actually needed. Beyer's meant to make me wait a week longer than I wanted, till they got around to my car when they wanted, and they would have charged me over 300 for the supposed wheel that my car needed, rather than 100 for a tire balancing and honest diagnosis. Thank you to Big O for not robbing me or making me wait, and reassuring me nothing's gonna fall off my car if I drive with the vibration on the hwy. read more
