The thing I love about local stores like local bakeries, local chinese restaurants and local chicken shops is that the owners of the stores know almost all their customers. Something I feel that's missing in a lot of other stores nowadays, there's just this empty connection between two people that we've become used to over the counter.
That's why when I stopped by this store for a charcoal chicken and chips, the lady behind the counter seemed a bit confused and said "where do you live? I haven't seen you here before." After I told her I was visiting family in the area and some friendly chatter, I started to like this place even more.
This place not only sold good charcoal chicken and chips, with the stuffing the good old way, that a lot of the Portuguese and newer charcoal chicken shops fail to offer, they also offered that friendly neighbourhood service that you just don't seem to find anymore. read more
