Taking Covd-19 into consideration, this location is lacking in customer service. I was outside of this Bevmo when I called them to see if they have Not Your Dad's Root Beer. They said yes, so I went in to get some. There were 1 or 2 other customers, 3-4 employees and no one helped me and I couldn't find the root beer I asked about. Thanks. read more

Just went into BevMo on PCH. I entered the store with a mask in my hand ready to put it on when I saw a sweaty delivery man huffing and puffing without a mask on. So I thought they must not be mandating it in this store. I just was at the car wash and they didn't require it. I was in the back of the store when the manager approached me asking if I had a mask. I responded yes and he told me to put it on. I asked him why the delivery guy wasn't wearing one and his response was " he's not here now, he left". The manager didn't have the balls to tell another man to put a mask on that was standing in his view but he could walk all the way to the back of the store to tell a little old lady (who's been vaccinated) to put a mask on. Basically you just need to know the following: + Friday beer tasting from 4-7p for $1.10. + Saturday wine tasting from 12-4p for $2.00. I don't really buy all that much alcohol here as I am not a wine or beer connoisseur (yet) so the usual Hefewizens and Three Wishes wines does it for me. Lately though, and I blame the tasting, I have been getting more and more into craft beers, of which Bevmo is the place to go as they have a huge selection of craft beers (including kegs too). Their wine selection is also pretty extensive as they have wine from worldwide and their wine sales are also pretty good as a lot of times they have a buy one get the second for five cents. Other then that, for spirits I usually pick them up at either Costco or a supermarket when they have a good sale going on as spirits usually don't seem to go on sale here. As for the Torrance store, well the convenience beats out everything and I have also found this store's service to be the best (comparatively to other similar type stores). The worker's here aren't snobby and quite helpful at helping you pick out wines. I have a feeling that this store is a little smaller than the other Bevmo's but this store also seems to have everything other large Bevmos carry too. I recommend coming here for at least a tasting...but then you will be back as that's how they get you hooked! read more

I purchased one bottle of Cook's Champagne today for $10 which is wayyyy over priced. Cook's is a relatively cheap brand and can be purchased at any grocery store from $4.99-$5.99. Guess I should have just went to Ralphs but thought a place like BevMo would have been a better deal. Weeks prior to this I purchased a bottle of Woodbridge wine from BevMo which also cost me $10 and the following week I found a place that offered two bottles of the same brand for $10 bucks. So tell me, does that sound like a good deal to anybody... I say not! You just lost another customer and my friends won't shop there anymore either!!! read more

I ordered a Peroni 1/4 keg online for an upcoming party. Patrick called me four days(!) in advance to tell me that he couldn't get it. I'm going to "make do" with Karl Strauss, but I really appreciated the heads up. Can you imagine showing up 2 hours before my party and them not having my keg? Averting crisis and great service is worth 5 stars. In general, prices are pretty fair. Beer selection is pretty amazing. Also, their 100th Store Grand Opening was awesome. Got to taste Opus One for the first time and too many others. Met Wilfred Wong. Super nice guy, but I still contend that his ratings represent a conflict of interest! I have gone to this BevMo many times and the staff always seemed friendly. The last time I went in, about three weeks ago, I grabbed a six pack of tonic water and felt a stabbing pain in my index finger. When I held my hand up there was an inch long needle like shard sticking out of my hand at the base of my index finger. On closer examination of the 6 pack of tonic I saw that it was covered with sticky, dried soda ... so this needle-like shard got stuck in place in just such a way that it would stab my hand when I picked up the 6 pack. Upon pulling out the shard my hand began bleeding profusely. I went up to the front desk and the lady who was there gave me a first aid kit to help myself and then basically just continued on with her work. It took me about 15 minutes to stop the bleeding enough to be able to put a bandaid on. To make matters worse, the shard apparently severed a nerve in my hand and I have been having flashing pains stabbing through my finger whenever I extend my arm to reach for something. I guess I at least expected to have a manager come over (and if she was the manager then she was a piss poor one). If I was at a restaurant and such a thing happened they would have given me a discount or something. You know, make the customer happy?? I'm not looking for a handout, but come on ... a customer gets injured due to the dirty conditions of your store and you do nothing??? Since nobody seemed inclined to do anything more then just supply me with bandaids and leave me alone, I wrote the office of the store, twice ... and then I wrote the corporate office. No one has even responded to me ... not even to say just simply, "Sorry this happened to you." I am never going to this store again (and it had been where I basically got all my booze) ... definitely the worst experience of customer service (or lack thereof) I have encountered. read more

So here's a quick tip about customer service for this BevMo location. If you're already helping a customer, you don't ask the customer if she minds if you help someone else, then ignore her when she says, "Yes, actually I do mind. I was here first, and I'm ready to check out now." Why would you lose a $100+ sale to help another customer behind me with a $20 order instead? News flash, that's how you end up with a lost sale altogether as I exit the store and go to Trader Joe's instead. It's also how you end up with reviews like this. Note to this location's store manager: clearly your staff needs more effective customer service training. read more

Fresh out of Zima, i had to find something equally as snazzy for my friend's houseparty, so we settled on some pumpkin ale! Wasn't feeling the pumpkin ale, luckily we bought a back up of pomegranate mike's hard lemonade for the ladies. Yum! is it bad i just want a mini bottle of something just cuz it's cute? 3 bottles will get me a nice slizzer buzz Super cool staff. Came here on Saturday night half an hour before closing to pick up some beers and came across rows of different rootbeers, which is awesome! I love rootbeer and have now decided I'm going to try alllll of the rootbeers. We got our standard beers and I picked out three diff rootbeers and went to pay-- this is still 15 minutes before closing. Some female helps us and she is NOT friendly at all. She looked like she was bored to tears and had major RBF. Maybe bc it was close to closing, but that's not an excuse. And then the cherry on top was when she put my bag of rootbeers on the counter (all glass bottles) she just let it drop. Didn't place it on the bottoms of the bottles, just let it drop flat down-- luckily nothing cracked/broke. So that was annoying. Glad the Bevmo near me on Hawthorne has much friendlier service and hopefully the same various selections of rootbeer :) read more

While posted up in the craft beer aisle I was approached by a bearded Bevmo associate who asked me if I was doing ok and did I need any help. I think it was the full beard that instantly made me think this guy is probably a beer guru. My first impression was spot on! This guy knows beer! The Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, Alesmith Speedway Stout, and the Lost Abbey Serpent Stout he recommended were off the charts and instant favorites. Especially that Sculpin! Me Likee!!! My bad for not getting the bearded beer genius' name but I was too busy soaking up the hops knowledge that was being bestowed upon me. Seek the bearded ones advice and enjoy some craft beer. There is always that comparison between BevMo and Total Wine. Admittedly, I prefer to go to Total Wine because their beer selection is at least 5 times greater than BevMo.... HOWEVER, I had to write a review because I had gone in to this particular store to find Anchorage Brewing Company's Bittermonk (and if you haven't tried it, you need to!!!!! Though, as you will see, it is hard to find...) Anyway, I did not catch his name but he seemed to be the Go-To guy for beer questions. He told me they did not have this beer, and proceeded to spend at least half an hour calling other stores for me.... When he couldn't verify whether his other stores had it, he took down my number and said he would contact me if he found anything out... About 24 hours later I get a call, it went to VM, and the person said they found Anchorage Brewing Company's Bittermonk..... At Adam's Liquor Store in Redondo Beach. Apparently the only place in the SouthBay that still had it... Kudos to them for helping me so much that they even directed me to another store... Thanks BevMo!!! (And a shout out to Randy in the Torrance/Hawthorne store who knows pretty much everything thing there is to know about beer.. :) read more

Nice, clean, and spacious! I've always visited when its empty so no complaints. Employees are always attentive and really helpful. Theres always plenty of parking in the plaza since this section isn't as busy as the other side. Not sure if their selection is smaller/larger than other bevmo's but they always have what I want. read more

This place makes it difficult to keep 2 of my resolution of 2011, Lose weight and stop drinking... Maybe I should change to reduce drinking... that'll help me enjoy places like Bev-Mo! The staff there are awesome, and they're pretty strict on checking IDs so no way a high school kid can get away with it! Also Bev-Mo is a chain, so it shouldn't be too hard to find a place that sells booze. Althought, beside the 6.3 star rating I gave, I'm disappointed that place doesn't have Icelandic beer which I want to try, nor UV's cherry & lemonade mixed vodka. What? Did I just walk into a store where someone working there knew what they were talking about and knew where things were located in the store?! Yes! (not used to that in the South Bay). Several visits here now that all include at least one super knowledgeable staffer. I've tried and loved several bottles of beer I never would have looked twice at before because of staffer recommendations. I go in looking for something, ask about it, and get a "if you like this, you should try that" reco that never disappoints. I wouldn't consider myself a "beer nut" but I do play one on TV and have several friends who are so I know more than just Budweiser. I really like that they carry almost the entire seasonal Lips of Faith series from New Belgium Brewery (same folks who make Fat Tire). The ones they were out of were supplemented by recommendations from staffers which I ended up liking more than the original I was asking for in the first place. Parking in this plaza is hit or miss since there are more shops than parking allows for I think. read more

BevMo is the 7-11 of wine/spirits stores. You can get items you can use to get by and some really great spirits and beer but when you want serious wines "which is more than half the store" you really need to hit something like The Wine House in LA, Hi Times in the O.C or even Total Wine which btw keeps a respectable selection of wines on hand at the locations I've visited. After a total nightmare at Total Wine, we came to BevMo to sample our some wines and consider them for our provider for alcohol at our wedding. We're only serving beer and wine, so picking the right ones are super important to us. Steve was nothing short of absolutely amazing. He is so knowledgeable and let us know if we didn't like any of the wines, we could always try more. He put in his opinion without being pushy, describing the notes and flavors perfectly. We picked our wines and our sparkling after a great experience and the total price was incredible for so much wine and beer! They also offer free delivery for totals over $500 and chill their wines and champagnes! How amazing is that?! The stress free of free delivery for same day! Steve is the best. Great location, great store. Brightly lit, easy to navigate, freindly staff. The parking lot can be a nightmare though. 5c wine sale is legit. When you boil it down, it's 2-for-1. Cant beat that. A sure bet is the "Midnight Moon" Apple Pie Moonshine. With your BevMo card, you'll get change back when you trade the 'Shine for a $20. Pair it with a domestic light beer and a girlfriend who is doing the same, and babies will be made. Minimal hangovers as well. read more

I found this location to be small. The staff was all friendly, I was asked 3X if I needed assistance. The prices were just OK, Total Wine & More has a much bigger selection and better prices. If you can't find a Total Wine, this is a good secondary option. read more

aww, my sister placed an month-advance order for enough wine to serve her 50-table wedding banquet, and on the promised pick-up date, we found that they botched the order (forgot all about us?) and only had half the booty in stock. we scrounged around other stores for remaining bottles of liquid cheer! so since this is a relatively new store, the young managers need more experience. otherwise, they're always in stock with my favorite bottles, since this place is located at the back of the shopping center in the corner, and primarily serves the south torrance / pv area. read more

I just search and buy online and when I go inside the store, I go to the area that saids online pickup and that is easy as it gets. pros...a nice bev mo, has just about a little of everything. nice and clean and also well organized. i'm not a drinker, but i do have to go and get stuff for my wife who does drink, so i know my way around a bev mo. they guys here are very attentive and very eager to help you find what you are looking for. cons...not much, but i will have to say that now that i have discovered total wine, bev mo is now second fiddle in my eyes. but all in all, a good bev mo. read more

Bought a $100 bottle of Oban whiskey here today. They were sold out of Macallen 15 year, and the helpful clerk suggested this as a substitute. I never bought anything from this particular store but wanted to give my two cents on a rather bad customer service experience. I bought, or should I say rented, a 5 Gal Keg from the Torrance/Hawthorne Blvd store. Took the Keg home and learned that my CO2 tank (for my Kegerator) was out of air. It was around 7 p.m. and most shops that sold air were close. So to remedy the situation, I asked a friend who was, at the time, close to this Bevmo store to borrow a tap (manual pump) that we can use for the night. Night went on and had a great time. The next day, my friend went back to this store to return the tap in order to get his deposit back. Guess what, this damn store refuse to do so; for reason being that they do not carry such pumps. My friend was calm about the situation and asked to speak with a Manager but was told the same thing. He then ask to see the surveillance videos and much to their dismay, the recordings showed what appears to be a different tap. My buddy and his wife were furious and argued with management for an hour to no avail. The wife even started crying but they still refused to give in. So what did I do? I paid my buddy the $50 deposit, took the tap to the Bevmo I got the keg from and returned it with the keg. I got the deposit back for both the keg and the tap, even though the tap came from a different store. The sales rep who processed the return asked me which store I got the tap from and I said, "the one on PCH." With a chuckle, he replied "Man, they gave you an old-ass tap, this is no longer being rented out." But without commotion, he gladly refunded the deposit. And this is how the cookie crumbles: One Star for a bad customer service and for making my buddy's wife cry. Shame on you, Bevmo, for making a lady sob for a mere $50. read more
