Do not buy beer here. In fact do not buy beer at any BevMo! They keep beer on the shelf for years. It's always expired. And not many people check. It should be criminal. I've literally retuned beer because it was expired only to see it back on the shelf two weeks later. I think it's a corporate policy at this point. Most people won't drive back to return the skunky crap. read more

Stopped by to pick up some beer and wine after shopping at Marshalls right next door. It's nice to be able to "one-stop" shop in the neighborhood. The staff is friendly and helpful and being a smaller store, things are easy to find. If you need help, just ask and someone is always available to assist you. BevMo! One of my favorite places ever! This location is smaller than the ones I usually go to. They still always have what I'm looking for so the smaller space doesn't bother me. The staff are really nice and helpful. I always get offered assistance. I also like that they keep their shelves neat and orderly. What really piqued my interest during my last visit was when I was buying some glourous Woodford Reserve... an affordable drink of kings given to us by the gods brought down from the heavens by a mighty wolf... for it belongs in your belly as much as it looks beautiful in your glass, and will give even your coldest night a touch of warmth. It turns out that Bevmo has its own blend of Woodford! Crazy! I bought it and will hoard it away to open with a special someone (if my cat is reading this, no Sophia, you're too young to drink!) and we will judge the blend and all who had a hand in its creation... or just get pretty hammered....ohhhhh....or both! read more

During COVID... ordered online in the site. Almost $250 (ordered Riedel glasses too, calm down lol) Delivery cost $10 and had no free shipping options especially for the amount I spent. Anyway, delivery was supposed to be in a certain time frame of an hour. Over an hour past this time frame and still nothing. Called the store. He said they messed up and the order hasn't even been put together. Kind of hinting that I was disappointed, he makes no mention of customer service recovery, maybe refund of shipping... nothing. What has happened to this store. They used to be competitive in their pricing and have a good selection of spirits and wines. This has changed dramatically. Their prices are exorbitant ($20+ more per bottle of spirits in some cases) when comparing to Vons - and the selection at Vons and Wholefoods is far better. I did like that this selection was located conveniently in Solana Beach. This location is a tiny, cute... but, not cute in the sense that the selection is awful here. I was looking for some local beers and only found a handful of options. I circled the beer section about 3 times looking for some decent bourbon barrel aged beers and I only found about 2 different ones. Not only was there a small selection, the aisles are super narrow and I was constantly maneuvering around people to find what I want. I got pretty frustrated and ended up leaving pretty quick. There was only one employee in the whole store and he was at the register. It would have been nice to have someone show me what I'm looking for. I ended up going to the Mira Mesa location and it's literally 4-5 times the size of the Solana Beach location. I recommend making the trek to the bigger location where you have too many options instead of not enough. read more

This store is in a convent location (by my office), but also off of the 5, and in one of the less busy Bevmo parking lots that I've been to. Store is a decent size compared to other Bevmo's. There's never been anything I couldn't find! Fancy wines, cold beers, spiked seltzers, variety packs, fancy wines on a budget (buy 1 get 1 for 5 cent specials!). They even carry some cheeses, crackers, cups etc. And the people who work there are always so helpful. Today we were in there shopping for some nicer wines, and the man who worked there was so great - he kept recommended "better" bottles (in his opinion, I guess we'll find out!), but sometimes they were even a cheaper option than what we had already picked out. In my opinion, the prices at Bevmo always make it worth the trip over a supermarket or smaller liquor store. read more

This has to be the worst BevMo location. It is so tiny and getting into the center its in with the red light cameras and one way streets is not easy. The store is tiny! I could not believe how small the beer selection was. The Escondido location is so much bigger and has an awesome selection of beer and hard liquor. Encinitas location is good as well. For the first time in my life I walked into a liquor store and came out empty handed. Avoid this location! read more

There are really only two places where I get my alcohol - the supermarket and BevMo. When it's a specialty item I need then I go to Bev Mo. They have a really massive selection and they always well stocked. I also find the staff to be super helpful. Sometimes I enjoy chatting with them about new items on the shelves and what is popular in the store. It's always a pleasure shopping here and there's never a line or problem finding parking. read more

My first visit to this store. I found this Bevmo a bit smaller in comparison to the usual Bevmos I frequent in Oceanside, Escondido and Encinitas. I was surprised as to how compact this place is, but I guess they had to make due with the space. Usually when I walk into Bevmo, I am greeted with welcomes and smiles. Here it wasn't the case. I walked in and just started browsing for my section. I did find that they had a better selection in my wines than I thought. I hadn't been to a Bevmo in several weeks so not sure whether the wines I looked at were new or if they are specific to that location. Nonetheless, I did find a wine that I wanted to try. I did have a question regarding the wine, but no one was around to ask. I had to bring the bottle up to the counter. That's usually not the case when I visit other Bevmos. There are usually several employees circling the store asking whether I have questions, need assistance, etc. I made my purchase and was off. The employee was nice, but very soft spoken and wasn't conversational. Bevmo is awesome for great deals, but I would def go back to my usual Bevmo stops. read more

It's like a grown-up candy store! Lots of yummy liquor, beer, wine, and everything in between to choose from. I mostly come here for top-shelf liquors, as they have pretty nice prices and frequent sales on those. The selection is pretty nice as well - if I'm looking for a particular hard-to-find liqueur or 18 year single malt scotch that I can't seem to find anywhere else, this place usually has it. The wine selection is pretty nice, but I feel like I have 'grown out of it' as I've been buying most of my higher end wines directly from the wineries lately. They obviously have more selection than the grocery stores and most liquor stores, but it's still a fairly large chain and so seem only has the mid-sized to larger wineries on their shelves (based off of what I've seen, anyway). The 5¢ wine does seem like it's a joke now-a-days. I remember getting some pretty good deals in that thing years ago (or at least thinking I got a good deal at the time), but recently I've fallen victim to a few $10 bottles of wine priced at $22 (and the second for $0.05) that i've shaken my fist and ranted a little (but didn't actually DO anything about) later on when I figured out what had happened. The beer selection is pretty nice - definitely more than a standard liquor store - but I've had hit-or-miss luck when looking for something specific. Also, the prices seem a tad bit higher than at other places I've found the same beers. Unless I'm looking for something *really* special, it's just a bit much of a production to come in here for a 6-pack. Compared to other locations, though, this one is one of my favorites. It's easy to get in and out of, has a sane parking lot, and is right off of the freeway. It's not as big and fancy as some of the others, but I prefer convenience over frills. read more

I went in to BevMo Solana Beach yesterday to buy a particular red wine that I had seen on their website. Their store did not stock it but they researched it in their system and confirmed that BevMo did in fact have it at other stores. They directed me to one of their stores in Mission Valley, where I was headed anyway. They were very busy at the time I was there. Notwithstanding this, I was not required to wait long and I was given exemplary service. The staff were knowledgeable about their products in a manner that was beyond my expectations. Summer helped me pick out the perfect beverages for my dinner party! I was planning my birthday dinner and had no clue what to serve with my food menu. I brought in my menu and showed it to Summer, and she helped me find the perfect pairings! She went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of! Made the mistake of visiting this dreadfully small and disorganized BevMo. I waited in a line to get in because the place is so microscopic they can't maintain social distancing and watched people search for bottles among the disorganized mess. I finally get in just to find that the bottle I'm looking for isn't where it should be. I asked an employee and got the "we don't have that" with a shrug. I showed her their website showing two bottles in stock and she said yeah it might be over there. No offer to help find it just a vague gesture. If they had what I was looking for it was in the back because I scoured the store before I asked. Don't waste your time with this dump and it's rude employees. read more

Looked at BevMo website, called the store at 7 pm and asked to speak with someone who had expertise in cognacs. After a long wait, FERNANDO picked up. I told him I needed a bottle of XO cognac as a gift and asked for his input on which of the 3 (!) options available in stock I should pick. The guy did not know the difference between XO, VS and VSOP cognac and said they all tasted about the same. He recommended a $209.99 bottle of Remy Martin and explained, "Because it's a pretty bottle and my mother used to drink it". Rather than making him feel embarrassed for his lack of competence, I suggested that I would drive to the store and he would show me all three available options/bottles outside, as part of curb pickup. I explained that I was in a risk group for Covid 19 and could not do in-store shopping. Fernando said, "Okay". As I called him on the phone upon arrival, he told me that he was not allowed to meet me outside unless I paid first. I reminded him that the reason I drove to the store was to be able to see what I was buying for about $200. He said that was against the rules and he could only show me a picture. I told him that I had already seen the pictures on their website and came to see the actual bottles. But Fernando didn't seem to care. I asked to put the Manager on the phone. CARRIE's (not sure about the correct spelling) response was the same - NO. I asked her if she thought it was okay to have a customer drive all the way to the store for nothing. The Manager said, "Probably (!) not, but....." If you're not a fan of incompetence and blatant disrespect for customers, you "probably" should shop elsewhere! read more

Brendan on the other hand was very nice and helpful after NORMAN drop the ball and fumbled. I think Brendan should train NORMAN how work on his people skills. Pass. Go to a real liquor store. Went in for vodka and they didn't have smaller bottles (not the itty bitty but between the itty bitty and larger size). We were rung up, not carded and our purchase was just left on the counter. Weird. Apparently BevMo is anti bag. It would be nice to hear a cashier say "sorry bags cots X amount" instead of just setting it on the counter and staring at me. read more

I was just a bit bummed out that they were out of what I was looking for but I can't say much about that. They were just out. The staff seemed like they kept to themselves of a lot chatting away. I mean I guess it's not that bad since I was like one of three customers in the store at the time. When I asked for help looking for something, they were helpful. But at least at the other location I went to, the staff would ask if I needed help looking for anything which is always better. Oh well. It's hard not to compare to other locations. Demographically speaking they should call this place winemo. Yes they have many many craft, domestic beers, liquors, mixer, juices and accessories, but every time I come here there is a few people in front and behind me with nothing but wine. Don't get me wrong I like wine too, but you won't see Jack Daniels and Budweiser flying off the shelves the way some wines will, especially during the penny (excuse me now nickel) sales. Similar size, and layout to all other Bevmo's, the parking lot is a little cramped and service is bad here. This isn't prospect bar & grill and it's a little messed up to cater to the bored housewive or cougars more than people like myself just asking if you have any more Lagavulin in the back. read more

Not the best Bevmo, not the worst Bevmo. Glad they have a location so close to our house, but it's pretty small / cramped, so it doesn't have a great selection and feels pretty weird in there. I do really love the quotes on the wall near the ceiling while you're checking out. That's the most redeeming factor though, so.. take it for what it's worth. Lots of beer, most of it no good. Go to a regular, non-chain liquor store instead. The only benefit I can think of for this one is you can request a particular bottle online to be sent to that store. Instead of, you know, calling in or something like that to a regular store. read more

I've been a regular patron at this BevMo since they opened several years ago. I'm even a member of the "Club." Stopped by the other day to see if I could grab some empty wine cartons to pack bottles while my home is being remodeled. Walked in at a quiet time (no customers in the store) past a pile of empty cartons on the floor. Asked a young overweight woman clerk if I could have a few. She brusquely told me "no" --- they needed them --- turned her back and walked away. Another older male clerk came along. Asked if I could buy a few of the cartons. He gave me an eye-roll and rudely told me to go to Home Depot where I could buy some for $1 each. Well, I made the trip to Home Depot and they don't carry wine cartons! I understand why the store may need to keep all empty cartons. What I don't understand is why the staff is so unfriendly. read more

I love the BevMo in Encinitas, but I had a bad experience in this one. I came in with my husband and while we were checking out, the cashier asked to see BOTH of our IDs. I didn't have mine on me, so they said they couldn't sell us our beer. Mind you, my husband is 30 years old and doesn't look under 21...but you know what, rules are rules. But the attitude they gave us was RIDIC. They were beyond rude and unapologetic...if they had simply said it is a nice way, I wouldn't have been so pissed off! read more

A small BevMo in general with a small beer and small champagne selection, loads of Chardonnay. Pizza Port cans were for sale but they are also for sale down the street at the actual brewpub. Cans in this store were not refrigerated. Modern Times cans available but not refrigerated. Nothing else really caught my eye. Narwhal, Old Rasputin, Saint Archer, lots of Ballast Point but no Sculpin can packs when I visited. Overall, I'm not sure what one would do here besides stock up on non-hoppy bottles. Tons of Strawberry-Rita Bud Light cases take up precious fridge space. Didn't get any help from staff. Looked around at their champagne section and was also jaded. read more
