Slow service of a good selection. I'm need of a quick bottle of chilled wine and charcuterie plate or a Sunday Bunch case of bubbles BevMo has you covered. But be prepared to wait and accept substitutions on web ordered. Relativity bright and clean but cluttered and tight when compared to the Goleta location. Service is odd with a few employees running around and others seeming sitting around. Not the friendly greets and smiles Santa Barbara is know for. Their large wine selection with special deals on select bottles with the second bottle is on $0.05 keeps me coming back for basic table wine and bubbles. The price on higher end wines are comparable. The liquor area is a bit different. Prices are average with a great offering...when available. Shelves are often empty as with todays visit and orders placed on line regularly require substitutions. Frustrating for sure. The price is better than the small liquor stores around town but you may not find what you want. Good luck read more

The employee with blue hair was very rude and unprofessional. Yelled at me saying I couldn't touch a bottle, THAT CLEARLY HAD NO SIGN INDICATING NOT TO TOUCH, and proceeded to kick my mother and I out of the store saying because I touched the bottle, she couldn't sell us anything and to leave. I say this with all of my heart - fuck bev mo. This is the worst place around. I had previously gone to cvs, grocery outlet, and Ralph's who did not carry the sparkling water I desired. I decided to stop by my local bev mo, assuming I could walk in and purchase a pack of sparkling water (for reference, I am 16.) The service was horrendous to say the least. The lady at the counter asked if I was 21, to which I replied "this is sparkling water..." She informed me that it doesn't matter, at which point I was already livid. Take your business elsewhere, I was finally able to find the sparkling water at smart and final for cheaper anyway. What a retarded ass store. I'll never even consider to visit again. read more

Bev mo's delivery service with go puff sucks. I paid for expedited delivery and waited literally 8 hours for my order. I called the store 3 times and they assured me that the order was on the way. Strange experience, walked in looking for an irish whiskey and worker pointed me towards section but told me to go look for it my self. Then when I was looking at other whiskeys, because they didn't have what I was looking for, told me I was looking in the wrong section. Seemed kind of a weird and very unhelpful way to assist a customer. I understand life can be tough and shelving bottles at noon on a Friday isn't what a 40 year old alcoholic aspires towards, but maybe ask them to be a little more friendly because I picked up the bottle I was looking for right up the street with no issues. Or let them be grumpy, purgatory shelving bottles for minimum wage is pretty funny to me. read more

Convenient location with dedicated parking lot. Store isn't too huge, but they seemed to have a good selection - they had what I needed and they were having a sale so we ended up buying a little more than we had come in for, but left happy. Clean location, well lit and easy to navigate. Helpful and employees knew where to direct us when we had questions and check-out was quick and easy. I'd stop in here again. read more

Manager Bill provided the worst customer service ever! His communications skills are the worst, for the position and age of this employee he was so disrespectful, zero patience, and rude. Came in to return kegs and started giving me attitude out of the blue for receipt that I was not provided. I understand it's policy perhaps and I'll take the blame for that but he was unable to explain things without raising his voice and getting upset. I asked him if there was an issue and allowed him to express his thoughts first and allowed him to finish. I tried expressing my thoughts to him about the way he was reacting and he was so impatient he did not allow me to even speak and kept interrupting. I am surprised how immature he was for a senior his age. I was raised respecting my elders and I attempted to respect him but he did not deserve it. He told me I had to bring the kegs inside myself which I had no issue with after asking him if he had a dolly that I know they can provide and he did not want to provide one or help in anyway. He eventually stormed away and grabbed a dolly im assuming after he was called out on the terrible job he was doing. He does not deserve to be an a supervising position if he can't even provide the simplest customer service skills and communicating effectively. read more

This place has the nicest employees. One of them asked if we needed help and looked for each wine item we requested. And if they didn't have it, they recommended something else. Also, I didn't have a Bev Mo card but the guy at the cashier was kind enough to scan a spare one so I got my bottle of sparkling at half price. I like that they send flyers with discounts and email their rare bourbon arrivals, but it's one of the priciest places to buy beer and most liquor unless they have a sale. Wine sales can be good and they have a decent variety, I would just like to see more competitive pricing without always having to wait for sales and coupons. read more

This was my first visit ever to a BevMo and I was really excited given things I'd heard from friends on the west coast. You know what? It's just okay. I definitely see some horror stories on here but I cannot corroborate or refute them. The employees I spoke to and asked questions to were good. Not incredibly knowledgeable about beer but they knew the basics; in my experience, that's usually enough. Ironically, the issue here is the stock. BevMo prides itself on having a ton of inventory but I found their selection very underwhelming. They were missing items from pretty core West Coast breweries and really had little that was interesting; it seemed they were more focused on selling in bulk than anything else. Pricing was higher than I expected as well. I don't like people who come online and complain that their area's stores are better, but you know what, it's scary to say that I know at least 5 NY-area stores with a better selection and better pricing than this place. I know it's a chain...but God damn! On another note, their system of what beers could be sold as a single and what couldn't seemed completely random. Santa Barbara deserves better. read more

Never knew BevMo! was cool enough to have valet parking until i came here with a friend during their grand opening. The parking lot is small so it was hard to park and during the grand opening it was hard to find a parking space. Inside, they were giving away many free tasting of alcoholic drinks. It was a good idea to have valet parking outside for guests. They also had a $0.25 fee for their mini wine and beer tasting area. The selection of drinks at this location isn't as large compare to other BevMo! locations I have been to, but enough to stock your mini bar at home. Prices are decent-not much to comment on. 5 cent wine sale sounds wonderful but again selection is limited. The check out line was long. One of the registrar was down that day....bummer there were only 3 other cashier available with at least 15 people in line. Hope business is picking up at this location. read more

I don't want to give such a low rating as I've had great experiences with BevMo's customer service in the past. Unfortunately, one day can change all that. My roommate and I stopped by to take advantage of their 5 cent wine sale and stock up. She didn't have her ID on her because her purse was stolen recently and only has a temporary paper license at the moment. Of course, she was upfront about it but that didn't matter to the manager. She looked at my roommate's temporary ID, asked her how old she was, and after giving my roommate the third degree, the manager looked at her coldly and told her to leave. I understand the liability of having someone without an ID in the store, but that does not excuse the rude attitude. For being a manager, I'd rate this woman's customer service as an F. After she kicked my roommate out, she looked at me with great pause as if she wanted to ask me to leave as well, even though I had my ID and had already purchased half a case of wine. Looking back, just for the rudeness alone I should have asked for my money back and walked out. read more

Being a frequent shopper at this particular BevMo, I've always had great experiences until my last visit on July 28th, 2013... I purchased a keg of Shocktop for my boyfriend's 30th b-day and everything appeared to be fine. Though there were initial problems w/the keg only spitting out foam, half way through the keg completely stopped dispensing beer all together. Many attempts were employed to fix the problem (re-tapping the keg, using the pressure release valve, etc.), although nothing worked. I've purchased multiple kegs from them before and never once experienced any problems. One of the party attendees also owned 3 bars and confirmed that it was indeed a bad keg. Many people actually ended up leaving the party due to the malfunctioning keg. The following day I returned everything to BevMo to explain the situation, although the manager Tim wasn't there. I was forced to talk to the assistant manager who clearly lacked any knowledge & experience to provide helpful feedback (i.e. she couldn't tell me if the date on the keg was the born or expiration date, nor did she know how long kegs remain good for...1st she said 6 months, then retracted and said 4). I was told the distributor would be in "first thing in the morning" and that Tim would call me once the keg/tap had been inspected. I also left a note for Tim explaining the situation & asked him to please contact me asap the following day. Having never received any call back, I was forced to to return to the store once again. Absolutely frustrated at the complete lack of customer service, I couldn't help feeling as though I was getting the run-around. While speaking to an unsympathetic Tim, I was told that they couldn't find anything wrong and that no refund (not even a partial refund) would be offered. SO after being left with... 1) a ruined party, 2) a half wasted keg, and 3) an inexcusably subpar customer service experience, I absolutely recommend that others try out the Goleta branch instead. There's a reason why the SB store only has 2 1/2 stars out of 5...BEWARE!!! read more

Decent selection of beers, but in my opinion they really need more local brews in the cold case considering how many fantastic brewers there are in SB area. Other BevMo's seem to have much better layout than this location, and there is a lot of wasted space. They also have a really stupid policy of asking everyone in the group for ID. I'm buying a 6-pack of Firestone with my wife. I'm paying for it, I'm carrying it, but it is "corporate policy" that everyone must be 21 with ID. If I was doing straw-purcahses, would I bring the people under 21 to the counter? What if someone has their kids with them? If I were to give the alcohol to someone under 21 later (which, for the record, I wouldn't) that would be on me, and not the store. Seems like a dumb policy designed to collect mailing addresses off of the license swipe. read more

I tried to give this particular store the benefit of the doubt and tried to not focus on these bad reviews, due to the fact that Bev Mo has a good selection--especially in a limited market like SB. Brandy, bourbon, scotch, rum, gin, vodka, thousands of wines and a very big beer selection. someone said that they weren't impressed by the beer selection....that's just nonsense. The worst customer service EVER. The staff is very rude and condescending and my god, if you need help or have question you won't get a nice or pleasant answer or experience. The managers clearly shouldn't work in retail if they are always going to be snotty and rude. Also, they don't have it posted anywhere that you can't return alcohol (as California regulation states they have to if they don't allow returns), so call or online chat with corporate and get it in writing the managers have to accept the return if you are dissatisfied and it's within 7 days of the purchase. Their receipts state you can make the return. read more

This BevMo is located right off upper state street and has its own parking lot, so it's a breeze to get in and out. When I need a wide variety of wine to choose from, I usually stop into this BevMo. Horrible service. I called to check if I could return an unopened bottle of alcohol, however they said I could not return because of CA state law. I looked up state law and that is completely incorrect. I recited this word for word to the MANAGER and she gave me an enormous amount of attitude by saying it's only for people with vendor licenses. She then asked in a ridiculous manner you don't have a vendor license do you? I thanked her for her attitude and hung up before I could say more. It should also be stated on the receipt as it may not be common knowledge to consumers. read more

Elaine is the best! She helped us with our wedding order, and even went to the extent of taking my call after she left work so I could place my order in time. During the planning, Elaine gave me honest feedback that I was ordering way too much. I ended up thinking I knew better :-P and only still ordered more than recommended...and Elaine was right. I've normally had good experiences with Bevmo, but the manager, Tim, was incredibly rude to me. I put in an order 2 months ahead of time. I decided to go the the store almost a week before the event to make sure everything was fine. He had me purchase everything, and said he could deliver it the next day. Everything seemed great until the next day... I received a call, and he told me that because I came in so late, they wouldn't have everything available that day. It wasn't too big of a deal because there were still a few days, however day after day he kept saying the items I had already bought weren't in, but that next day it would be. On the day of the event I had to cancel the order, and some friends had to go to a different store to get alternative drinks. The biggest problem was how rude he was to me. He kept saying it was my fault, and that I came in too late. I asked him why 2 months wasn't enough, and I asked him what the point was of calling so far ahead of time. They said they'd email me, and they never did. If they weren't going to make the order, they should've at least called me or emailed me ahead of time, and not waited till the last minute. I also had multiple other problems with them including not giving me keg taps at first, and not having other supplies that I paid for ahead of time. There is one in Goleta, so if you need to go to Bevmo, you should probably go to that one, or go to a different store where they might actually value customer service. read more

In one sentence, creepy ID data thieves. I went in to purchase ONLY non-alcoholic beverages, and when checking out was told that they needed to see my ID. Huh? The cashiers justification was that ID is required by law for any purchase at any liquor store. That simply goes in the face of logic and even the ABC in California doesn't appear to know about that, only "Licensees and their employees have the legal right to refuse service to anyone who cannot show adequate written evidence of age." But she didn't say it was store policy, she said it was the law. Shortly after I gave her my ID the true purpose of wanting it became clear - SHE SWIPED IT INTO THE COMPUTER thus I am sure capturing my name, address, and any other information on there for marketing or other data collection purposes. We called to order a case of our favorite wine. When we came to the store, we were told that a more expensive case was entered as the wine we wanted by mistake, so the wine we wanted wasn't available. I felt that it was their mistake and since we came to the store because the employee assured us that the wine was available, they should have given us the sale price for the more expensive wine. Bev Mo obviously isn't interested in return business since they really weren't interested in making us happy. Good bye BevMo. There are many places in Santa Barbara who want our business. read more

There is a wide array of delicious adult beverages and accoutrements for very reasonable prices with great sales on wine and liquor. They have a pretty good beer selection (they have a small selection of gluten-free beers and Sierra Nevada in cans), tons of vodkas and rums, and about half of the store is wines. I wish they had a more extensive scotch and mixer selection though. read more

This BevMo is staffed by the best group of employees! I've been in my fair share of BevMo stores and I have never experienced the level of service like the team here exhibited. Sometimes it's overwhelming to sort through a Bev Mo but the team here makes up for it read more
