The focus is always on functional exercise allowing you to remain active throughout your lifetime. The coaches allow and encourage you to challenge yourself but do it without injury. They offer suggestions on how to modify an exercise so that you are successful. There are also a number of members who are true athletes and have been quite successful in state, National and world competitions. Besides all that, the members are a fun-loving group and always are welcoming and encouraging to new members. It is NOT your typical big box gym. Pricing varies and can include discounts. Free child care is also available during classes. All age groups are welcome. At various times of the year they have even have separate classes for children and teens based on school schedules. Give it a try and I'll hope to meet you there.

With virtually zero prior experience with Crossfit I went through the one on one fundamental sessions with Sarah. Sarah was incredibly patient as I messed up every technique I was taught in ways many would not think were possible... In short I was a hot mess. Despite my apparent lack of conditioning and coordination Sarah remained the perfect cheerleader. The fundamental one on one sessions proved invaluable. Other Crossfit gyms I made enquiries with were happy to let me join their classes without completing the one on one sessions. With the benefit of hindsight I was glad I didn't elect that option as it would make for a very dumb decision! The early morning classes range from hard to really really hard. There is no easy days. The classes are small enough that the coaches are always able to keep you on track. If you can't do a part of the workout the coaches are quick to show you a modification. What I enjoy most is the sense of satisfaction you get from doing some especially difficult each morning. There is a strong community vibe here also. Everyone has been very welcoming.

"DO PILATES. DO LIFE."…read more It just made sense to wait until I had a good amount of classes under my belt before giving my honest review. I had a membership at a luxury Chicago gym where Pilates was included. Classes were always booked. I peeked inside the studio where classes were held and the machine looked a bit intimidating. Didn't know what it was, how it worked and no one was available for questions. Running errands in Evergreen Park one day and saw a Club Pilates being built. I'm curious by nature and asked if I could have a look. I was granted access by the contractor but told to watch my step and be careful. I was in awe. One day I received an email invite to join at a discounted rate. I don't even care how they got my information, I was happy to sign up. I would have my husband drive past the location to check on the progress and see how close the club was to being open. Can you sense my level of excitement? It's real! Lisa the host receptionist has been absolutely amazing at helping me to understand how to book my classes. Thank you. Small studio; cozy with nice lighting. Each instructor has their own playlist to motivate you to move. The club sells a few quality work out pieces as well as cute no-grip socks. The pilates machine is called a reformer and it's not as intimidating as one might think. Turns out, it's LOTS of FUN! I love that classes are small and intimate. Twelve maximum. I love how motivating my instructors are. I love the overall benefits my body is receiving from being consistent. Truly a mind, body connection. Something I have never said about working out.

I have attended three classes here so far and things went from great to bad pretty quickly. My first class here was a 1.5 class with Kathy and it was INCREDIBLE! She offered modifications and amplifications and the workout was sometimes challenging. Her cues were always clear and the flow was nice from start to finish. My second class was with Melinda and was also a 1.5 class. She comes off as militant and snobby for lack of better terms (which I am not saying as a bad thing). If sly remarks at the expense of clients while seeking validation from other clients in laughter is your thing, then she's for you. Other than this, her class was good--challenging and engaging with few hiccups in the cues and only a couple gaps in the flow. My most recent visit was upsetting. I have taken more than 20 classes at various CP studios in the last couple months so I felt I had a pretty good idea about what to expect when signing up for the level 1 class. But, it was evident in the first two minutes of class with Nicki that it would be a waste of time and money. Fortunately, I was given the credit back for the class. If you're looking to take a class and leave feeling as if you just worked out, I'd advise passing up on her level 1 classes. In general, she does not seem to be a fan of amplifications, so I'll skip booking with her in the future. For older clients, or those new to reformer, she'd seemingly be a good fit. It is also worth noting that the studio does not yet offer level 2 classes but is hosting workshops in February about leveling up to level 2. I hear level 2 classes will be offered in March.

I came in this morning, said good morning, and attempted to scan in. The scanner wasn't picking up my code. Instead of using words, the woman at the counter just pointed downward. I adjusted my phone, apparently the wrong way, and she mumbled "down" in an annoyed tone. I told her I couldn't hear her and that I'd handle it myself, then picked up the scanner and scanned in. It's not about needing over-the-top friendliness, but the consistently low energy and irritated attitudes from staff make this location uncomfortable. You can feel the bad vibes before you even start your workout, which defeats the point of coming to a gym. I'm not asking anyone to kiss the ground I walk on just basic communication and professionalism. This location seriously needs to do better.

The worst part is that without being transparent, she waits until they leave to cancel her membership. I can tell the results are going to be seriously addicting. The class is 50 minutes and trust me you are working just about every minute of that. Kelly the instructor is a great motivator! If it wasn't for her energetic attidute and genuine excitment to get our butts moving, I don't think I could have gotten through it on that sleepy Sunday morning. The classes are small whichs allows for a more personal feel. Kelly will take the time and make sure you are doing the moves correctly in order to get the most out of your workout. She is extrtemely knowlegdable in both fitness and nutrition...I'm telling you, this girl knows what she's doing. She also makes sure to learn all the participants names to help encourage you along the way....how cool is that? Not only are you getting a personalized workout but did I mention it's affordable? These classes will not break the bank like some of the other downtown gyms...and also you do not need to sign a contract which allows for a lot of flexibilty within your schedule. I couldn't be happier with the workout that I recieved from Kelly at Barre it All. I am still feeling the affects of it two days later (no joke). I think this gym is a great addition to the area and I can't wait to try some of the other classes offered:)

However, after my recent experience, I am appalled and disgusted by the way I was treated--and ultimately banned--because of a rude, disrespectful young employee who clearly has no understanding of customer service, let alone basic decency. Let me be very clear: this type of treatment would have never happened under the Vrdolyak ownership. Back then, the gym staff was courteous, professional, and actually valued long-term members like me. They took pride in their business and treated every member with respect, regardless of how long they'd been there. Under the new management, it seems that's a thing of the past. It all started with a young employee who, from the beginning, had a major attitude problem. I've seen bad attitudes before, but this one was particularly appalling--eye rolls, curt responses, and an overall disdain for anyone who dared to ask a question or need assistance. I initially brushed it off, thinking maybe she was having a bad day. But after multiple encounters, it became clear that this was her standard behavior. And on one specific day, after yet another rude exchange, I decided enough was enough. I contacted the gym manager, expecting some level of professionalism and a resolution to the issue. Instead, I was blindsided when, instead of addressing the employee's behavior, I was banned from the gym! After 20 years of loyalty, decades of my hard-earned money going to this place, I was effectively kicked out because the management wanted to protect an employee with a horrible attitude rather than hold her accountable for her actions. This wasn't just a slap in the face to me--it's a complete betrayal of the values that this gym used to stand for. They clearly don't care about their long-term members anymore. They don't care about respect, or loyalty, or anything that made this gym great back in the day. It's all about protecting bad behavior from their new, poorly trained staff. CFX Gym has gone downhill, fast. If you've been considering joining, I'd highly advise against it. If this is how they treat long-time members who've invested years into their business, imagine how they'll treat newcomers. I'm beyond disappointed in what CFX has become. Under the Vrdolyak ownership, this kind of nonsense would have been dealt with swiftly and fairly. Now? It's all about saving face for the management and throwing out members who dare to expect decent treatment. What a shame. Avoid this place at all costs.
