Had the pleasure of paying a ticket to these gleaming examples of public good recently. How glad I am that a faceless beaureacratic entity is ensuring public safety by taking pictures of cars briefly stopped in red zones then mailing tickets weeks later. What a great public value it serves to give drivers tickets based on parking enforcers phone pictures - I wouldn't want the poor officers getting up and having to explain the laws they enforce or - god forbid - handing a ticket to you. Rating these "public servants" decent because they towed a car that was blocking me at my house very quickly. But...I have been on the wrong end of parking enforcement to the tune of $300 per year on average. Really sucks. All I can say is, these guys do not mess around. They patrol the neighborhood WAY more often than the retail streets with meters. If you even leave your car for 15 minutes illegally, I'd say you have a 70% chance of a ticket. If you are visiting someone in the neighborhood, make sure you put the permit in your car immediately. If you use the temporary parking passes, you need to make sure they can view it from their cars. If you make an enforcement officer get out of their vehicle to read your permit, they will site you for "something." read more

Terrible. This isn't a community service program at all, it's a for-profit organization that survives solely on stealing money from people. And LOTS of it. I LIVE in Beverly Hills. And I love living here, but I'm disgusted by the way these meter maids behave. You MUST budget at least a grand just for parking alone in this city because it's GUARANTEED that you will receive parking tickets. It has nothing to do with obeying the law, and everything to do with the officer at the time. I've literally never come across a meter maid in Beverly Hills that's considerate, communicative, understanding, compassionate, etc. They DO NOT give warnings. And that's why this isn't a community servicing program...the goal isn't to educate or to assist, it's to punish financially. And it's a for-profit model, so why not?!?! Once I was parked in a metered parking spot, making a phone call to see how long I would be inside of the building I was about to enter (the call was to find out how long the meeting was planned to be), and an officer ticketed me. I was SITTING inside my car, about to get out to feed the meter, and he ticketed me!!! Who does that? I told him all of this, he completely ignored me and wrote the ticket. Another time, I had pulled over SAFELY in a red zone to pick up my mother who was coming outside of Kreation. I couldn't have been in the red zone for more than 30 seconds, when I got a ticket. My mother was literally getting inside the vehicle when they wrote the ticket. There's no parking in that area, but apparently there's no loading or unloading zone either. You're just shit out of luck. Another time, inside an empty parking lot, I ACCIDENTALLY parked in a handicap spot. There was NO vertical sign, and the handicap paint had faded. It just wasn't clearly marked, and I had no idea. I would have never parked there, as there were spots open to the left and right of this specific spot. I came out to my car and to my surprise I see an officer writing a ticket. I was super confused and asked him what I did, and he just walked away. HE LITERALLY IGNORED ME. The ticket was over $500. Just because I live in Beverly Hills doesn't mean I can afford to throw away money. But I guess that's MY fault that the parking spot wasn't visually identifiable as a handicap spot? It's insane, and it's the one thing I hate about living in Beverly Hills. I've always had a great experience talking and interacting with police officers, but not with the parking enforcing metermaids. And yes, I'm calling them metermaids, because they aren't considered as officers of the law in my mind. Have you ever stopped in a red zone to pick someone up or drop someone off? Well, don't do that in Beverly Hills, especially when parking officer Lozano is on duty. ZERO compassion, ZERO leniency, ZERO discretion. She must have been hell-bent on giving out tickets that day because I had less than a split second to react before she started taking down my plate number. My family and I went to dinner for my 40th birthday this past Sunday. After dinner, I went ahead to get the car from the public parking structure because my mother-in-law, who's over 80, has a really bad knee and can't walk far. As I pull up, there are two cars in the valet parking spots and my family is in front of a red curb, so I pull up as to not block the street or any driveway. As my wife is buckling in our daughter and my mom and in-laws are getting in the car, parking officer Lozano pulls up behind me and gives a quick honk. I couldn't move the minivan because I would have hit my wife with the sliding door and my mother-in-law wasn't fully seated and she could have fallen. It must have been no more than two seconds before parking officer Lozano steps out and starts taking down my license plate number. No verbal warning what-so-ever. The honk was apparently the warning. I ended up getting out of my car to let her know we're about to leave, but she says that she already has my license plate number. We asked if she could just give a warning and pled our case (it was my 40th birthday, 80 year old mother-in-law getting in, buckling in our daughter), but it just fell on deaf ears. She said being in the red zone was dangerous for those cars coming out of the driveway next to it. What was ironic was that she was blocking that very driveway as cars were trying to get by. We tried to remain as cordial as possible, but I'm guessing she felt "threatened" and radioed in a police officer for assistance. Officer Yamada was obviously there to back her up, but was polite and calm. Ended up getting a $93 ticket for simply not wanting my handicapped mother-in-law to fall over and not wanting to run my wife over. I guess that's better than having to pay any medical bills. Instead of coming up to me and handing me my ticket and telling me why I got it, she sat in her car, took a picture with her cell phone (the officer), and noticed I was freaking out, but NEVER came up to me. Beverly Hills never refunded my payment and six months later tell me that I need to either show up in person or submit proof of payment to receive my money back... and that my money would be refunded within 30 days of submitting proof of payment? I'm desperately asking for HELP, as I'm going through this same issue right now. I've been client of an private Beverly Hills post office for almost three years now. On July 13, 16 all I was doing was my regular routine, which was to pick my mail. I do that twice a week, but since there this reckless parking enforcement bicyclist that works for the Beverly Hills police department was giving me a hard time. I did not even wanted to go around to get my mail no longer. His name is Jorge, and he usually wears a dark blue uniform. He hide in a other street to give tickets out to people that aprouch, try to aprouch or come close to the red zone. If he's around he will also aprouch people in a matter of seconds when he sees someone dropping others off in the middle of the street when traffic light is red. He will come really close to your face or car. When all peoe are doing is dropping anyone off in front of the post office to pick up mail. He doesn't stay on Santa Monica blvd, where the post office is located, he hide on a one way street, and in order for him to get in front of the post office he have to cross the pedestrian line, which he does while ridding his bike. The big problem with this guy is, most of people don't park or attempt to park on the red zone, all they do is drop someone off, and in a matter of minutes, seconds he is right on their face, and have a very insulting attitude. He will also aprouch people who try to step out of their cars. And fallow the ones around the corner who he could not give the ticket, to scare people away. Even though they did not park on the red zone. I notice that he gives a hard time for people that are simply going around the corner waiting for others to move there car so they can park. That's what he did to me many times. When we, me and my husband saw him coming, we went around the corner, and he stalked us for a while. He will ride his bicycle really fast while following you, and doesn't give importance to the safety of the other pedestrians. He will do anything in order to give that ticket. Even if he have to run over someone. That's how he ran over my husband who was crossing the pedestrian line. What he did next? He did not even helped him out, all he said was, "are you ok sir." My husband had brain surgery and was in the process of healing. Right now he's fighting for his life in the hospital. On this day, the police told him to stand outside of the car per hours, under the hot sun, and towed the car away that they forced him to park on red in order to make money. They also arrested me for no reason. We had to pay over $300 to the towing. My husband was missing prior to this incident for a week, due to the memory lost, the day I went to report him, I reported the bicyclist to the police, and they held me at the police station. My husband stay so long under the heat that he started to feel bad, since the police choose to ignore. Someone noticed and offered help. That day he stay on the street till 12:00 am, since he did not know how to go back home. I found him after I was realed from jail. So, anyone that could possibly help, with a writing statement or even to go to court to testify for me. Anyone that went through something like this, or anyone who had a bad experience with Beverly Hills parking enforcement or the police department. I'm speaking from my heart and asking for help as my husband lay in a hospital bed dying, because I know the only way to when these corrupt officers who are the real criminals, the parking enforcement and this unfair treatment the people in the community receive, is to help one another. I'm bagging for help since they did something so cruel to someone that did not had strength even to stand on his on feet, and had difficulty speaking. There were four police officers that responded to the scene. So they can go to court and support each others lies. I read the police report there were so many lies they made up that they ended up changing their reports later, in order to make since, but it still did not make since. So who are the criminals in here? Jorge the bicyclist who had ran over my husband called the police after I told him that I would report him to the police for riding his bicycle like a reckless around the pedestrians. When he called the police, four police officers responded to the scene, even though there were never any argument or altercation. This shows Beverly Hills police department desparation for money. They are money hunger that do anything to do their corrupt work, they will insult and arrest Beverly Hills residents for the convenience of their packets. If I knew anyone that went through this same situation I would not hesitate to help, since all we have is the strength of the people in our community.
