    YOOOO ATOWNNNN!! During pandemic and after quarantining at home and cooking so much delicious food cause yall know I'm a foodie lollll, I gained so much weight and was really struggling with my self image. All my clothes felt tight and I was just desperate for a change but the motivation was extremely hard to find especially in a pandemic!!! I was honestly feeling so down and at some point depressed because I just felt so bad about myself. It wasn't until a good friend of mine told me about BBB! She had joined a month prior and it was honestly the push I needed! Working out is always so much fun and better with a friend because of accountability! Soooooo I decided to join and here we are 6 months later into my fitness journey! The really great thing about joining a new gym is that there is always some kind of promotion at a discounted rate or even a cheaper trial to give it a chance! HIIT workouts are not for everyone so it's nice to try it out! If you're like me and need someone to yell at you to tell you what to do, THIS IS IT!! Okay maybe not yell but HIGHLY motivate you to get your knees higher or speeding up your pace and letting it BURNNNN, then THIS is the place for you!!! It's definitely a little pricier for a gym membership (also my motivation to get my ass to the gym lol) but what's really nice about it is, you can take multiple classes a day (if you're hardcore like my friend lolol) AND you can even travel to other locations too! But the Astoria location fits about 20-25 people per class and they have a changing room, two bathrooms, a couple ACs and fans all around. Ventilation might not be great but I mean, hey you're there to sweat right? Haha. Also, the music be poppin'!!! You'll def start moving to the beat!! I loooove that they also have music themes on certain days so it isn't the same repetitive songs or playlist. When they bring back the 90s, I'm like yoooooo, this be my JAM! Their app is super user friendly so it's easy to book and cancel classes. They always email the schedule weekly and are pretty active on IG so you can always see any updates right away. They also offer lots of class times early morning or latest PM class is at 8pm which I'm super grateful for since sometimes ya girl gotta work overtime na mean? Each class starts on the dot and is a straight 45mins workout with a 5mins cooldown and then everything is wiped down afterwards. All the trainers I've taken are always READY to whip you into shape! They are super fun and have great personalities!! You gotta give them props cause they be coaching a few classes in a row sometimes! So I always appreciate the energy they bring cause it's always 100!! I was lucky enough to have done CrossFit in the past so picking up all the moves were familiar to me. Although sometimes things are moving fast, you can always count on a member in the front row to watch what they're doing so you're back on track (take a spot in the back row like me XD) and definitely let your trainer know that you're new to this!! Once they know your name, they'll call you out but I think that makes the experience more intimate and I always feel seen. I've also had trainers come up to me to fix my form if I was doing something incorrectly. That's super important to me because form is EVERYTHINGGGG! Always remember to bend with your knees, keep your heels on the ground and keep your chest up and back straight! You'll see what I mean when you join haha. But most of all, listen to your body and don't overexert yourself or feel pressured to do more. It takes time to build endurance but you'll get there! I always feel welcomed here and you'll see more familiar faces the more you attend classes. And even if you disappear for a little while, they'll even notice when you come back and ask where you've been T_____T So if you're looking to get some gainz and posting some thirst traps (cause they got big mirrors lolol), commit and remember that consistency is key! The owners Chris and Steve are super nice and chill! They always take the time to say hi and ask whatcha been up to. If you have the opportunity to meet them or Ashley (the manager), it's always good vibes! I'm super thankful to have this community!! Everyone there is really supportive and there to work on bettering themselves. Cause after all, a better body, is a better life! TLDR; A great beginner/intermediate gym with great music and awesome trainers. Positive vibes, positive energy, and overall a great community!

    BBB helped me with commitment, encouragement, and fun! I attend BBB classes 5-6 days a week and have seen my clothes sizes drop and my body tone! The staff and trainers are friendly and very informative.

    So happy that a coworker told me about this boot camp. BETTER BODY changed my life sooo much. From the trainers, to the music, to the whole vibe I would recommend it 1000x to anyone wanting to work on their health. So far I've lost 30 lbs and have gained muscle in 5 months...I look forward to continuing my health journey with everyone at better body astoria.

    Best spot to work out and stay fit. Coaches keep me motivated to meet fitness goals. Highly recommended.

I decided to try EVF for the first time with their EVF class, which was open to everyone. The class was disorganized and overcrowded. The instructor speed-talked when showing us how to do an exercise with good form, and in a room of 30+ people, not everyone could even hear her because the music was too loud. And as people were working out, there were way too many people for her to actually monitor to make sure they are doing everything safely. The complete lack of focus on injury prevention and safety is a deal breaker for me. Instead, their focus is on making you sweat hard with weights to make you think you had a good workout - when in reality, you may not be activating the right muscles and are on your way to worsening your muscle imbalances and injuring yourself. Oh, and here are some extra fun details: -No one is EVER at the front desk. I had to pass by this gym 3 times on 3 different days because I wanted to talk to a human being to ask some questions before I signed up for my first class. They just have a desk there and equipment but no signs of life. Ever. -No one is doing audio checks before a class, so good luck hearing what your instructor is saying -The back office is the only area that seems to be staffed. Their focus is just sales, not about anything else. -The instructors are not knowledgeable in muscle anatomy and will have you doing reps based on time rather than on evenly working both sides of your body - another recipe for injury! This entire gym screams of red flags. Stay away.

I fell off the pedestal, crashed my head on the wall and ended up in Lenox Hill hospital getting a CAT scan of my head and jaw. Turns out my jaw was dislocated and now needs PT to get it straight. I cancelled the rest of my sessions and asked for a refund. Ahmed gave me a refund BUT he insisted on charging me for the session that put me in Lenox Hill Hospital! He's a man of no honor.
