I couldn't be happier and more grateful for the care I received from the women at the joyful birth! My placenta was encapsulated quickly and the process was incredibly easy! Our doula Olivia has basically become apart of our family! She met we us prior to me going into labor, answered all my questions and gave me confidence at a time when I really needed it. My birth took place at a hospital, my doula arrived promptly when needed and guided me through a very difficult birth. We initially thought we only needed a couple weeks of postpartum care, but due to an unforeseen medical issue postpartum I was hospitalized and we ended up having Olivia continue working with us for postpartum assistance through 5 months! She is easy to get ahold of, knowledgeable and truly a great human. She treats our daughter as if she was her own and is incredibly knowledgeable about all things birthing related! Having a postpartum Doula is the greatest experience and I highly recommend it, especially if you don't have a lot of family living nearby to help.

We opted for the placenta encapsulation with the artwork and cord keepsake. It came out so beautiful I ended up framing it and putting it up in our bedroom. Should we have another baby, I would definitely do this again! Definitely worth every penny!! Loved everything about this!!

Friend Lauren C. recommended this spot to me when I was considering hiring a doula for my first…read morebirth. Their website is helpful and informative, and we were able to submit a form to be contacted - we met Jasmine on site to hear more about their doula services and other offerings. If you know early on that you're interested in using a doula, contact them sooner rather than later, as they have Open House events where you can meet their various providers to see who might be a good fit for you. I ended up getting induced a week later and did not end up using a doula - while my delivery went just fine without, it's worth looking into if you can afford it, and there is evidence that their involvement can shorten labor and improve outcomes. As first-time (and probably only-time parents), we were more concerned about having someone able to fully explain options to us and advocate for what we wanted in the hospital environment. That being said, WRM has more than just doula services - they also have midwives and a lactation consultant, as well as several classes offered onsite that you can take before, during and after your pregnancy. My husband and I took their 2-hour Newborn Care Class and it was helpful to hear the most important info and ask questions right before we had our baby. The class included a helpful book with free access to an app, and was led by their lactation consultant, Rory. It also served as a good way to get to know her in case we ended up needing LC services.

Don't make the same mistake we did. We hired Emily as an advanced doula from WRM when I was a little over 38wks. I didn't agree with my OBs decision to induce me early so even though I was so close to giving birth I considered going for the natural way instead. After meeting with Emily, my husband and I decided to labor at home and a hospital birth with Emily as our Doula. We only met with her Twice for prenatal care where we discussed my birth plan, and my main concerns about birth. I was very adamant about not wanting an induction. I also expressed my concerns regarding breastfeeding. She reassured me that even though things might not always go according to plan than she, as my doula/advocate will do her best to still give me the ideal birth I wanted by making sure my birth plan/requests are still honored. Also, that she will assist us with our transition taking our baby home. Everything sounded good. And I was looking forward to working with her. She said she can be in the OR during the delivery- she said it's all good because one of their owners actually sits on the board of Henderson Hospital. So they know her there and know her work. On the day my water broke I kept her posted. Texting and calling through contractions until it got really painful that my husband had to take over. Now just to really show you how unethical and uncompassionate Emily and this whole company is, She then asked for more money DURING LABOR!! stating that according to her contract half her doula fee of $1200 had to be paid before she can go to the hospital with us. We had already paid $900, and at the office she said we only needed to pay half prior the delivery and there will be a payment plan. We paid but this just left such a bad taste in my mouth. When Emily arrived at the hospital It had already been 36 hours since my water broke. My Doctor discussed the complications of a vaginal birth in my case. He suggested that I go for a c section because he thinks my baby will be 9-10 pounds & gave us a couple of hours to make a decision. I was so scared and so frustrated. I was in pain! After long consideration, we didn't want to take such great risks and decided to go for the surgery. Prior to going into surgery I Spoke with Emily again about my birth plan. I asked her if she will be there with me to watch over the whole thing and she said Yes. I really expected her to be present in the OR, as she will act as my advocate making sure my requests for my birth and baby were honored. I thought even if it's a c section, my birth can still be somewhat ideal. Unfortunately, most things on my plan were not followed: - I did not get immediate skin to - My baby's vernix was wiped off. - Cord clamping was Not delayed. - Exams for baby were not delayed. - Vaginal swab for cesarean birth was not done. Needless to say, I was so sad about this. Emily bought us dinner, took pictures & then left...since she can't do any sort of medical assistance there, she might as well be just any other visitor. She might as well just text us and act like a virtual doula because she was of no use to us at the hospital. After delivery my main concern was my baby's latch and breastfeeding. Emily sent me a "How to breastfeed" YouTube video the night of my delivery - like I will have the time to watch that?! I could have looked that up myself. These are all examples of her failing to show up for us. The first hours with my child are incredibly important! I needed immediate post partum care/ lactation assistance! Once you're in hospital care they hit you with "It's a liability!" Therefore their care cannot be provided. All their help are now deemed useless. If we fully understood this ' you're now under Hospital care caveat, that they can't intervene because it's all up to our doctors and nurses now, we wouldn't have hired WRM in the first place. When you complain about the lack of care/ services, get ready to be answered with...well technically it's in your contract so sorry. You're trying to cover with technicalities now? From a contract we unwittingly signed on an iPad for one minute on our way out the door. We had a TWO HOUR!! consultation with them, you'd think they'd take two minutes to go through the contract/ scope of services and limitations with you before taking your money. We tried setting up a meeting to discuss our experience multiple times in the course of 2 weeks, Not a single staff member from the WRM office returned our calls or bothered to get back to us. Again showing the lack of care for their paying clients. We're currently waiting on the status of this matter. I'll keep this review updated.

Along with the doula care I received from Iveth, my first birthing experience became special, joyful, and unforgettable. When I saw my OBGYN's negative response to my birth plan at 37 weeks, my instincts told me I deserved better and more personalized care. During my prenatal visits and home birth, I could feel that Midwife Marve and Doula Iveth truly cared for me--physically and emotionally. They treated me as an individual, offering customized support like tracking my daily nutritional intake and checking my vitamin levels. They also helped me stay calm and coached me throughout the birth--instead of applying a one-size-fits-all protocol. After birth, when my baby girl was having trouble latching, Marve checked in with me daily and came to visit, offering helpful tips and emotional support without ever making me feel rushed or judged. Iveth brought homegrown herbs, fresh vegetables, and delicious homemade meals during each visit, nourishing both my body and spirit throughout the birthing experience. I'm deeply grateful to both of them, and I would recommend them to anyone who is expecting--without a doubt.

My husband is the smart fellow who had researched the history of birthing and knew a home birth would be right for us. But the first midwife we interviewed took a while to answer basic questions such as, "What complications would necessitate us leaving the house for the hospital?" When asked the same question above, Allyson immediately listed several instances. She even brought out a doll and a 3D model of the pelvic bones to demonstrate. That's my kind of professional! Direct, organized, and eager to share her knowledge. I knew Allyson would be the perfect midwife for me. Like most women, I did not experience any complications during the natural birth process. Allyson and her apprentice, Romina, expertly and lovingly guided us through 18 hours of labor in the peace and quiet of my downtown apartment. I was 36 at the time of delivery, which is considered high risk, but everything went as smooth as it could. Post birth experiences with Allyson were also invaluable. She is as concerned for the mother as much as the baby, which is a level of service unique to midwives. Allyson's post birth home visits are a luxury I wish every family could experience. My experience with Allyson has changed my perspective on medical care, in general. I feel much more empowered as a patient, and know what good care looks like. Allyson spent one hour, I repeat, one hour with me during every visit. This provides ample time for me to digest information and to ask questions. Unlike the OB I had visited previously, Allyson proactively provides the information you don't know you need. Through Allyson I have also learned about home remedies, herbs and more.

She involved my significant other in the entire pregnancy, made sure that my labs were normal, that my baby's labs were normal, that I had whatever kind of birth I wanted and even if on that day it had changed, it didn't matter. She had a ton of reading, audio and video materials to loan to mothers-to-be from her library. She also recommended classes that we could take to learn more about Lamaze, breathing technique, or breastfeeding. She had tips for how to cut baby's nails, how to get started on cloth diapers, and how to care for myself after the birth. I told her I didn't want an epidural and that I at first wanted a water birth. I ended up doing my prelabor in the bathtub then laboring on the bathroom floor in my own house. She was supportive of all the animal grunting sounds I was making and cheered me on. She gave me olive oil to rub on the baby's head, gave me fresh coconut juice when I needed rejuvenation, took some memorable pictures for me and my new family, counted his fingers, toes, took his measurements, had my significant other weigh the baby, and she even did the footprints. She was great with prenatal and postpartum care. She told me what diet I should be on, but also that I should just eat whatever I felt was right. She encouraged me to be me as much as I could be me during the pregnancy with respect to having a healthy pregnancy. She gave me suggestions during my seventh month as to what exercises I could do in the pool since the treadmill was starting to become too hard on my knees. Whenever she wanted to incorporate a teaching moment for other doulas or learning midwives, she would always ask for permission first. She respected me, my son, my significant other and our beliefs. She gave me lactation consultation and helped my son to latch on. She was great about scheduling if anything ever came up and fit me in even when she seemed like she couldn't. She was always reachable and was never more than a few hours away by phone or email. I am glad that I went with her versus going to a doctor or a hospital. Even when I had thought about having the birth in the hospital, she was still supportive of my decision and was ready to do the patient-transfer paperwork and then was supportive again when I decided that the hospital thing was not my cup of tea. For my hundredth review on Yelp, she's whom I'm writing about and Great Expectations Midwifery Care is what I care about. She did an awesome job and if I were to have other children in the future, I would definitely go back to her. I would recommend her to any of my friends and family.

Other events caused more delays, which is the reason why there are very few reviews. Needless to say, the care I needed was delayed as well as the update of this review. In 2024, I specifically requested Pueblo Imaging because I had a poor experience with Simon Med. I forgot how poor of experience I had until I went to Simon Med again in 2025; where I got worse service. This is not Alternative for Women's fault, but it is their fault for not updating their records when I requested Steinberg instead. I know this because my mother (who has worked with medical scheduling systems) asked if I had requested Pueblo Imaging previously. That being said, I felt a little more understanding that Pueblo called after I asked for Steinberg Imaging. What my grievance is is that Alternatives for Women said that I requested Pueblo Imaging October 2025. The other poor experience that I had with Alternatives for Women was the delay with obtaining an updated referral. After asking for Steinberg, I had to call a few times. Each time I called, I was told that I would receive an email with the new referral. It took a few tries that I ran out of time in October. To my surprise, Pueblo Imaging called. I would have gone there, but it would not have been covered. So, I contacted Alternatives for Women again to correct this as I requested Steinberg. I got an updated referral after my Yelp review, but it was too late. It was impossible to get it scheduled in October as planned. I also went through a chain of events following so I could not schedule an appointment. I didn't know what to say because I still believe that it will still be a review with few stars. They confused a request from 2024 with 2025 and said that I requested Pueblo. I think that it was still in their system from 2024 because I know what I said about Pueblo Imaging. I didn't plan on coming back. They have great supplements and great recommendations for me, but I just couldn't. I am sorry that I could not provide a 5 star review because she is good at what she does. Again, I am sorry for the delay. I would say yes, this is a good place to go. You just need to be on top of stuff like knowing which pharmacy is open and you need to contact them and be sure that they updated their records before getting referrals. Double check.

My wife and I expressed concerns about her pelvis being too narrow but she brushed it off and we believed her. A mistake that nearly ended my new family. She would say that something was fine and then would say that the same thing was concerning. We chalked it up to her being a bit eccentric. On top of that, we only got reimbursed a little over $100 from insurance and we had Anthem PPO at the time. Not necessarily her fault but it added to the negative experience and expenses. My wife's labor ended up being 24hrs at home and 36hrs total which ended in a C-Section. She was little to no help and it was Sally that recommended we go to the hospital. Plug-in for Rancho Springs, amazing hospital and staff. It's not what we wanted but definitely what we needed and more. We didn't want a hospital birth but they have the best ward bar none. Only hospital me and my wife would go to for this. From our conversations with other people that used her in the past, I think she was once a great midwife but from our experience, I would highly discourage anyone from using her services. If you use her, you'll be playing roulette with you and your child's life.

During our meetings we were constantly recommended to seek outside opinions from my OBGYN and medical facilities, causing us to spend thousands more during my pregnancy and birth on top of her fee for services ($6000). During my birth Anne and her assistants made the environment stressful when I expressed for my birth to be peaceful to my liking. Upon Anne's arrival she said that I was fully dilated at 6am. At 3pm Anne had checked me and told me that she had still felt some of my cervix (I WAS NOT FULLY DILATED). She had complained earlier in the day that her fingers were too short to check properly, so I'm not sure how she has been a midwife and her fingers be too short to check her clients. I was instructed to push while not being fully dilated. Anne appeared impatient and she didn't seem to know what to do to help me progress. After an hour and a half of pushing she recommended transfer to the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital I was checked and was dilated to AN EIGHT. The hospital determined that my baby was too large to have naturally. During my pregnancy we brought up the size of my baby and Anne would discredit all the ultrasounds and weight estimates that we were given. I had my baby via c-section and was born at 11 pounds 1 ounce, he would never have been born safely naturally. After my hospital stay we returned home to a birth pool fully inflated and still containing the water from my labor, this was after I was told that everything would be cleaned up before our return. A warning to all, a contract is presented and must be signed that states once Anne shows up to your birth/labor there are NO REFUNDS of any sort. Ultimately I would not recommend Anne's services as a midwife. If you are looking for a midwife to trust as your expert and for a safe, comfortable birth, look elsewhere.
