Wait. A taxi? Why review a taxi service? Car, go, arrive at destination. Simple right? As the…read morebrave new world of Uber and Lyft will signify, a ride to the airport is so much more than that now; wasn't it always?
Of the nine taxi services we called, yes 9, Jeff's was the only one to respond in both a timely manner and to still be a going concern. Important in business today. More than one of them had closed up shop, moved on, thrown in the towel. From the very beginning it was obvious that Jeff's was different.
Uber in the Quad cities was sketchy, not having the large cars of the XL class to accommodate our group of four with luggage comfortably, and without using the virus infected front passenger seat. Let's just say that Lyft in that area is almost nonexistent.
So, our driver. Yes our driver, Nathan. Nathan is punctual. If you set a pickup time of 7AM, you can rest assured that promptly at seven, a clean, spacious, technologically advanced vehicle will appear at your designated pickup point. With Nathan comfortably ensconced behind the wheel. Nathan, having more than fifteen years of experience in the cut throat commercial transportation field, was much more than adequately prepared for our journey that day. That is Nathan, the driver, but what of Nathan the man? What can I say about Nathan other than his energy and candor are both infectious and delightful. While meticulously maneuvering his large, complex vehicle through all manner of turns and entrance ramps he was as well an interesting and accomplished conversationalist; regaling us with stories of the the city's history of chiropractic science while season stats on the recently re-affiliated High-A minor league baseball team, the Quad City River Bandits, tumbled from his lips. Yes, to say that Nathan was instrumental in our on time departure from Davenport airport is to to minimize the Herculean contribution of Nathans employer, Jeff's taxi service, and that of Nathan himself.
Jeff's taxi service just a taxi? I say no. They are so much more than that. Use them whenever you come to the Quad Cities.
