Mind you this was the coldest weekend in Minnesota. The manager wouldn't allow us to rent the conference room for Saturday evening even though no one was using it! Most importantly... the swimming pool! The pool has sand & dirt in the bottom of it. 2 kids cut their feet because the pool tiles were broken. It took the staff until 6pm Saturday for them to even try to repair the pool. Their solution was to put rubber mats over the broken tile areas. The waterpark was closed!!!! The restaurant is so expensive. Food was decent. The Sunday buffet cost was $14.95 & adults was $24.95. They charged me full price for my 5yr old granddaughter who ate one small blueberry muffin. All in all, I would not recommend Arrowwood Resort, nor will I return.

THIS MAY BE THE PLACE FOR YOU if you don't mind ACTUAL SHIT overflowing in the bathroom sinks of your room, and sheets and linens that have been around for 6 Presidential elections. Just changing rooms because of the issue was a struggle and "the best they could do" to rectify the issue was a Free Breakfast at 2100 Chophouse. Check their Google reviews for why this felt like more of an insult than just saying "there's nothing we can do." Save a few bucks, go to your local goodwill and grab a sleeping bag circa WWI and see how much they would charge to stay at the soon to be upgraded wastewater facility in Alexandria. Good luck!

The front desk clerk was very friendly and looked like she was working hard. The room has the phone key which I really like, when it works! It worked once but I didn't bother to have it reset as I was only there for a couple of nights. the room was very clean and spacious. It has all your needs covered with the Refrigerator, Microwave, coffeemaker and HUGE flat screen TV. Speaking of the TV, it had the Bluetooth music feature that allowed you to play your music from your phone over the TV. I love that feature a lot! Lots of free outlets by the bed, CPAP friendly! USB ports by the coffee maker, nice! One last thing about the overall room space. They have a nature scene on the window shade when it is pulled down, nice touch. How about a sunset? Bathroom was large and had a walk in very large shower area. I really like the walk-in shower verses the tub/shower combo! Who takes a bath in a hotel room anyway unless it is a whirlpool? The hotel was relatively quiet however others in our group said their rooms were noisy and could hear the room next to them. Maybe it was me, I do listen to my music pretty loud? I guess they were on another floor. I always take the top floor. The one thing I did notice is the door slams. Apparently they decided not to use dampers to quiet the doors when people leave their rooms. The fitness room was very large for a hotel. It had plenty of equipment and a water bottle filling station. The pool was small and NO whirlpool/hot tub. The breakfast room was very nice, however, I didn't eat the FREE breakfast. I would most definitely stay here again. It was located in a weird location, between Menards and Wal-Mart but it was close to restaurants, fuel and shopping.

What a great idea to put a gathering space and game room above the store/office area. The group made great use. Noticed two separate sand beaches and wish we were there when the docks were out. They were just getting things out for the season so a little problem with the grill, but after a text message they showed up and addressed the issue. Lake Darling is a pretty lake and part of the chain in Alex. Brought three other couples from outside the area and they really liked the resort and activities in Alex. Hiking trail was just a block away and it gets you almost anywhere in Alex. Firewood purchased came with a little starter kit and they provided a good qty with large pieces. Property is well cared for and large space between cabin and water. Definitely would come again.

The game room was a huge hit with my kids along with the pool, sauna, and hot tub. The place was really nice, super clean, and had everything we needed. We were even able to see the northern lights right out our back door reflecting on the lake! Would love to come back in the summer.

We stumbled on 3 open hotels, for all of which the price was justifiably low. We grabbed this one, 3rd party, because it was the closest. Check in was easy, fast & the gent working the desk was nice. He asked if we had a room preference & I said anywhere quiet would be great. We were given a corner room, out of the way. Unfortunately, I'm in bed at 1230am, listening to the exit door open and close repeatedly. As there are only 59 rooms total, I've no idea why I've heard the door 11 times while typing this. Make that 13... we'll pop on noise canceling headsets and solve that issue shortly. One should note though, there's relatively no soundproofing, so come prepared. What we can't solve is that this 100% non-smoking hotel has absorbed so much smoke over the years that, even with the lovely new flooring, it's like sleeping in an ashtray. I can't imagine how it was with the carpeting. It appears that the hotel is trying to improve & it is certainly budget friendly. I wouldn't stay again tho unless the stench is addressed. I can taste the smoke, not good. We appreciated the light-weight quilts... very retro.
