Able to book the corporate rate in advance, which was $104 for a nonsmoking, 1 King Studio Suite with sofabed. The same week of my stay was the state trapshooting competition and also a wedding so that rate shot up, some folks turned away and rerouted to Arrowwood Conference Resort as an alternative stay. Check-in and check-out were easy and quick, with two room keys provided. If a Hilton Honors member, you could even utilize a digital key. Free Wi-Fi (high-speed internet), free hot breakfast, pool, hot tub, fitness center, business center and meeting rooms, digital room keys (Hilton Honors), connecting rooms, and free parking. Fitness area small, treadmills noisy. My suite had a 40-inch LCD HDTV, sofa bed, seating area, work desk, coffeemaker, microwave, mini refrigerator (off by default, turn knob yourself to turn on), air conditioner unit, iron and ironing board, and laundry service available. Bathroom standard, hairdryer, full-sized pumps for lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Room service deep cleaning is only done every 5 days; any other cleaning or replenishing you need to request from the front desk. Clock Radio with USB (wireless charging option as well). My view was facing the rear of the hotel so not much there, but the very spacious room, comfortable bed, temperature/climate control, and water heat/pressure were okay. Hot breakfast was very good, ranging from oatmeal to milk and cereal, waffle makers (mini or full-size, Strawberry or Malted Vanilla flavored batter), biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, yogurt, muffins, danishes, bagels, bananas, apples, oranges, links, cheese omelet, French toast sticks, cranberry/orange/apple juice, coffee, tea. Not a bad stay at all, pleasant front desk. I would choose Hampton again if my work ever brings me back to Alex someday.

I've been coming here since 1982 and my parents prior. They haven't missed a year (besides likely…read moreCovid). It was once a gem and I would love to see it get back to how it was. However, I can tell there are improvements in the works compared to even last year which is promising. Pros: *Our group of 8 stayed in the townhomes which were clean and they were in the process of remodeling/staining the outside. *The beach is better than it's ever looked. It's larger, clean and no goose poop. There were two individuals cleaning it while my daughter was playing on the zip line. *Although we weren't here Saturday, I saw they have live music at the outdoor bar most Saturday's. *grounds overall were clean. However, the family who checked out the day we arrived left a large empty wine box on a grill outside our place and that was not cleaned up during our stay. Would love better attention to detail! *new manager-I hope he addresses people's concerns quickly as I read recent reviews and customer service was lacking including lack of response of follow up. He was friendly and seemed attentive! *water park was closed but they were actively working on it while we were here. Ideas for improvement: *Bring back the drink of the day special at the Deck bar-My mom and I always enjoyed trying a new $5 drink in the past each day while at the pool (usually something like a Mai tai, pina colada, etc). *Properly stock the bar -I wanted a pina colada Sunday night and another family member wanted something else and they were out of many things. Bartender was nice but didn't know how to make some drinks including a Mai tai. However the drink I ordered was delicious! Pricey drinks though and our group thought there wasn't much alcohol in them. If you are going to charge fancy bartender prices, have a stocked bar and well trained bartender. Otherwise, lower them. We aren't in New York. $16 for a Long Island in Alexandria is a bit much. *Get new chairs/lounge chairs at the pool. Both the indoor and outdoor pool had broken plastic deck chairs which both felt dangerous and were an eye sore. *Have someone walking the pool areas every hour or two to clean up the pool area. Overall clean but I saw what appeared to be a manager or owner walking by some garbage (wrapper on a table) and some messed up cushions at the outdoor pool area and he didn't do anything. *Clean up the ground under the zip line area. There needs to be new wood chips added and weeds removed. I walked into some stickers (weeks) that were painful. *Fix the windows in the townhome. We would have loved to open the windows at night and they didn't seem to open. *Have a local from Alexandria who is familiar with the resort and its history to help bring this report back to how it used to be. The grounds etc are beautiful but it's lacking what it used to be. *There is a light by the outdoor volleyball courts that has been crooked and bent for years. It's an eye sore, looks like it could fall any minute and shows neglect due to no one fixing it for years. *My dad loves playing mini golf every year but the course is falling apart! It's a wonderful part of the property and I hope it's fixed soon. *in ground sprinklers were watering the sidewalks near our townhome more than the grass. *Lower prices of lodging and food at least until you get back on your feet. Arrowwood is quite high compared to nearby resorts who have beautiful lodging and property.

The one negative was we were given a room with a noticeable smoke odor - on examination, the smoke seemed to be mostly within the chair (probably someone smoked there) - oh, yes, this is a non-smoking hotel. Unfortunately, there were no rooms available to switch to (sold out), so we had to tolerate it for the night [not cool]. We opened all the windows, turned on as many fans as possible, and lived through it. The next day, they did move us to another room, and gave us a credit toward about half of the night's stay. So, given this is hopefully an exception, and only their fault in that it wasn't caught by cleaning staff, we did enjoy the other three nights of our stay.

Dog Owners Beware: Service Dog, ESA or Family Pet -- We Were Made to Feel Completely Unwelcome…read more We have stayed at more than 70 Marriott properties this year alone, and are Titanium Elite member. We travel extensively and always try to stay with Marriott, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Before we even had our luggage off the luggage cart, we received a call from the General Manager regarding our dogs. During that call, she went through an extensive list of rules concerning them. We completely understand hotels having policies and requiring guests to sign waivers--we have done this many times before and have never had an issue. After the call, I went to the front desk simply to make sure both dogs were properly noted on our reservation and to ask whether they needed any of their paperwork. The manager came out and, for the second time, went through the extensive list of rules regarding our dogs. I explained that our dogs are trained psychiatric service dogs and that the way the situation was being handled had put me into a full-blown panic. One of my dogs is specifically trained to recognize and alert to this. Unfortunately, even after I explained that, she continued repeating the rules and emphasizing that we were not to leave the room without the dogs. She also told me that she has three dogs herself and that she doesn't care what anyone says, "dogs bark." Working with dogs is my profession, and both of our dogs have gone through proper training. More importantly, our dogs had done absolutely nothing wrong. We had barely arrived at the hotel. We completely understand and respect hotel policies. What we could not understand was why, during the approximately one hour we were at this property, we were repeatedly made to feel as though our dogs were going to be a problem before they had even had the opportunity to settle into the room. The gentleman working the front desk was extremely nice, and I want to make sure that is acknowledged. Unfortunately, the General Manager's attitude and the way the situation was handled made us feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome that we decided to leave rather than stay for our two-night reservation. We still had to pay for the first night even though we left. After more than 70 Marriott stays this year, I can honestly say we have never felt so immediately singled out or unwelcome at a Marriott property. We weren't asking for special treatment. I simply went to the front desk to make sure our dogs were properly listed on our reservation and to offer any documentation they might need. We chose to leave because after only an hour, it was very clear that we were not going to feel comfortable staying there for two nights. For loyal Marriott guests who travel regularly with properly trained dogs, this was an incredibly disappointing experience.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel last Friday night and were very disappointed in our whole experience. First, when we checked in, we were given a bill for 2 nights instead of 1. When we noticed and asked for the staff member to update the bill, he rolled his eyes and told us to sign the one he had given us and then he would fix it to say 1 night. We told him we weren't signing a bill for twice what we owed, and he ended up reluctantly fixing it. We ran up to the room so my boyfriend could take a quick shower before we went to his family reunion. When we got to the room, there were no towels to be found anywhere. My boyfriend called the front desk, informed them we were in a hurry, and asked for towels to be brought up. The towels were brought up promptly, but while we were waiting, we noticed how dirty the room was. For example, there was a bag of chips, penny, and open pen between the bed and the nightstand. There was a bandaid on the floor next to the other bed, and a Jimmy Johns wrapper next to the fridge. When the towels arrived, we nicely informed the staff member that we weren't sure if the room had been cleaned, and showed him the garbage throughout the room. Instead of apologizing and telling us he would send someone in to clean up, he gave a loud moan and rolled his eyes at us. He then walked out without an apology. When we arrived at the hotel later that night, the room had been cleaned... Kind of. The Jimmy Johns wrapper had not been removed and there were still crumbs from the chips, so obviously the room wasn't vacuumed. The next day when we were checking out, we told the new front desk person about our disappointment in the cleanliness of the room and the customer service. She also didn't say much, but finally when I told her a simple apology would have gone a long way, muttered a slight apology and an excuse that they are having turnover in the housekeeping department. Overall, after this experience, I would not go back to a Days Inn again. I would think a national chain would have some standards to live up to, but this location definitely did not.

So I pulled in to gas up the car and saw there were several motels so I thought I would check them out. I ended up at this place, as I'd been to these before and they were pretty perfunctory, meaning that the beds were clean and it was a clean room and a place for me to lay my head for the night. Check-in was great. The girl at the counter was very friendly and funny, made the check-in process that much nicer. And so I went to my room. The room itself was clean. The beds were clean and freshly made, it did have a place to set my bags did have a mini fridge and microwave in it which I did not use, and a seating area. Now I don't know what it is about hotels and desk chairs, but I would say 90% of the hotels I've been to the desk cherries jacked up in some way. Either a roller is missing from the bottom or the back is bent or the upholstery is torn. But this one was like it had been bent and never fixed so I was always sitting at an angle. This room actually was pretty decent compared to some of the places I have stayed. A place like this. I would normally give three stars but again Service matters to me and the girl up front got it bumped up to four. Bottom line? If you are out traveling and looking for a place to lay your head for the night, you could do way worse than this place. It is definitely not bad for the price point and it's comfortable.
