I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Selecman and Children's Dental Center. It's easier for…read moreme to make a blanket statements like THIS is what visiting the dentist should be like *or* Dr. Selecman is legit the best in the business. But. I want to break down some of my favorite parts about this place to give you a more concrete overview. 1. Kindness: Professionals who help children should care MORE (not less) about their jobs because children are among our most vulnerable. Dr. Selecman is among this type of human. He caters this dentistry experience to the little children. He talks to them as humans BUT through the lens that they are still children. There is a special type of kindness laced in his approach. I cannot tell you how special it is and how much I appreciate this. 2. Family: Coming here is an experience for the whole family. They care about everybody and make an effort to keep families together while the kids are having dental work. It goes a long way! 3. Fun: There is something fun in EVERY room for the kids. Whether it's coloring or movies in the reception area; movies, video games, or legos in the waiting areas; a TV screen for a movie on the ceiling while getting your teeth cleaned; or the token at the end to redeem for a toy of your child's choosing -- these things mean a lot because they go the extra mile to make a dental experience something happy for children. It means a lot to me when the dental hygienist is calm and patient and focuses on the patient. (I appreciate it so much when hygienists, dentists, doctors, hairstylists, etc. remember this.) I know they have a job to do but my child is more than a set of teeth. They have fears and apprehensions and worries and it's very unsettling to have someone digging around in your mouth with metal tools. For the most part, we have had good experiences at Children's Dental Center -- some better than others. I also really appreciate the women at the check-out desk. I have really noticed over time that they are habitually kind!! I'm grateful for every member of the staff who goes out of their way to make sure these kids feel safe and well taken care of.

I loved this place. I went with my god-daughter for her first dental check up and quickly felt…read morecomfortable. When you first walk in you are greeted with a smile and warm welcome. The facility has adequate space, is clean, and has lots of kid friendly activities and seating. The had a tv are (with multiple televisions), coloring tables, and a gaming area. The Dentist and staff are friendly and professional. You can tell that they take pride in their work. Her check up was quick (an hour start to finish), yet filled with great information and services. At the end of the check up they give each child a token so they can get a cool little treat. Love it!

I've known this group of doctors for +4 years now and I can only say good things about them, all of…read morethem! We do frequent Dr. Acosta but only because my kids and husband's last name is also Acosta and that matters for my kids! hahaha, but all doctors are super friendly, super good dentist and very professional . The sweetest staff works at their offices (we were going to Southaven before they opened this office in OB about 8 months ago), they explain everything to you, they are very sweet to the kids, they don't let anyone waiting, they attend the patients the at the exact time of the appointment, they make very good use of technology, easy to start a file and to make appointments. I just love them so much! My kids have never been even nervous to go (even after my son had to have some extractions), they love to go and have their teeth "tickled" (like my 4 yo girl says). Does it get better than this? Yes! this office is just a block from my house =) I can even send them walking by themselves if I wanted to, I won't, but I could! hahaha

Terrible. For this to be a dentist that caters to children, they are atrocious at it. My daughter…read morerecently went for a cleaning and got her bottom retainer ripper out of her mouth. When complaining about it, multiple hygienists tried to gaslight us into thinking it was our faults. When just yesterday, I took her to the Ortho to tighten both retainers. She now has to wait 4 days, since both are off weekends, to get it fixed, again. Yes, this is not the first time this specific dentists has messed up her retainer and not taken accountability. We will not be coming back and discourage others too as well, especially for those with braces or retainers. 0/10

This rating of 1 (not good) for today is solely based on my experience at the office today and not…read moreany of my other visits with my child here. Normally, I would give our other visits 5 stars for overall experience, but my experience was different & not good today. When my child was called to the back by Julia the dental assistant my kid started walking to the back and I grabbed my things to go with him and was basically told by the dental assistant Julia that I had to wait in the waiting area for him, so I assumed that she was going to do a quick exray and bring him back out front, which by the way had never happened before; I waited & waited and after so long, I explained to the lady at the front desk and she invited me to go on back. When I got back there, I noticed that my son had gas on and they had already began working on him. I have a huge problem with this!!!! As my son is already super apprehensive about being at a dental office as am I! I should have been allowed to go back with him from start to finish! I explained my concern with Julia because she was the one that prevented me from going back with my son in the 1st place and the dentist was out of the room. Julia seemed unconcerned about my concern. So, when the dentist came in, after greeting him; I explained everything to him....expressing my disdain and he seemed to think that there was a "misunderstanding". In my opinion, there was NO misunderstanding! I was not granted access to accompany my son, and that was unacceptable and should never happen with a parent or whomever brings the child/children to the office! I am not sure why this happened, but I just wanted to share my experience & I pray that it never happens again to anyone else.
