I had a colonoscopy here today 4.3.26. The place is very difficult to find because it's on the huge…read moreEmory hospital complex. The incessant confirmation emails, texts and calls were too much. Leading up to the appointment, I rec'd no less than 2 emails, 2-3 texts and 2 phone calls (they don't leave a msg!) each day. I confirmed numerous times but still kept getting the spam contact. The 1st problem when we did finally find suite 506 and walked in, there was no one sitting behind the check-in desk. So we checked in using the QR code and waited. I got tired of waiting so I yelled HELLO and someone very nearby answered. Evidently, endoscopy patients are supposed to walk through the oddly decorated blue door to yet another check in window?! There is no way in the world that a new patient would know to walk through that blue door to find a smaller check-in desk where the receptionists actually are. The nurses were great. The doctor was fine until the end. I'm all done, sitting in a wheelchair in the giant room with all the individual curtained rooms (which were all closed and occupied). Orderlies, nurses and patients are everywhere. The doctor comes out to give me my end of procedure paperwork, pictures and results. Instead of going to a private office, he's standing there in front of me, talking fairly loudly about everything (personal private things) in the wide open room where everyone can hear. I felt that was very unprofessional and maybe even a hippa violation. I didn't really need the entire room knowing the results of my procedure and possible future follow ups. Instead, bring the patient into an office, close the door, offer a water (propofol makes your mouth super dry) and privately tell the patient your findings and suggestions.
