We came to Lindsey Jones, Aligned Design, via a contractor with 5 specific elements that we wanted…read moreto include in our non-buildable blueprints. From day one of the initial phone call with the contractor through the first meeting with the contractor and then the meeting specifically with Lindsey Jones, we iterated these design features that we felt key to our kitchen remodel. We even had pictured examples printed out and posted up of the ideas we felt most important to include in our kitchen remodel. During the meeting with Lindsey Jones, the contractor inspected the structure of our home and confirmed that the modifications to the structural supports could be completed to extend a beam across the roof line and remove a post and bar. My husband and I were excited to move forward with extending a beam across the roof line as well as removing the post/bar to open the space so that we could expand our laundry room and further maximize its space to include mudroom features. Along with these major renovations, we had a few other needs for our kitchen redesign. Lindsey sent over 3 options of blueprints that completely ignored all 5 specific design elements that we wanted included, specifically extending the beam and removing the post and bar, adding small appliance storage shelving, a counter space in the laundry room and half-depth counter. Even after longer discussions about the importance of these features to us, Lindsey ignored our requests and delivered plans that didn't include any of those features from the meeting/s. While I welcome the consideration of other design features that had been suggested by them, we did not waiver on these 5 specific, important design elements as part of the kitchen remodel. Upon receiving the incorrect design options of non-buildable blueprints, we had sent feedback with specific drawings that included those elements that were missing. After sending our feedback November 26, 2024, we gave them weeks to get back to us. Upon hearing nothing, we sent a follow up email and received a response that they "would answer our email the following week". But they still did not send over the correct plans. We sent another follow up email 1/5/25 with no response. Called 1/16 and left message with no response then called 1/20 and spoke with them where they said they would have the plans complete 1/23. With no response, we sent another email requesting an update and completed plans on 1/28. Although they gave us several reassurances by email and phone that they will "get us something by the end of the week or the following week", they never produced anything nor updated us. We paid them $840 in good faith that they would deliver designs that would meet the discussions we had in our meeting. We are very disappointed and frustrated to have paid Lindsey Jones just to receive project plans that don't include anything we contracted them for. This really puts a stain on our experience with designers and contractors. I have heard horror stories from friends about their experience of paying for contracted work just to have poor quality or delayed deadlines, this just adds to that narrative.

For 10 years I thought of adding an ADU to my property. Meeting Lindsey was so helpful. She knows…read morethe ins and outs of what is allowed. The bonus is how intentional and thoughtful she is about every element of the design. I had ideas of what I wanted and she asked the right questions to create a space for me that what just right for me. She guided me through the design process with ease and patience. She is so intentional about every element. She works to design things to be efficient and eco friendly and knew just where to place windows for the best effect! She cared about my design as if it would be her space to live in. I love my ADU! It feels like it is so personally my space, thanks to Lindsey at Aligned Design. Every time I look out the windows, I am so grateful for her attention to detail. I wouldn't have thought the size and placement of the windows placement and size mattered so much, but it is the first comment that people make when they come in my new place. Lindsey is the absolute best. Take the time and spend the money to have her design a space that you will love! You will be glad you did! She made my dream a reality!

When we decided to build our retirement home, we knew this would likely be the last custom home we…read morewould ever build. We wanted something truly exceptional and were looking for a design firm that specialized in luxury custom homes--not simply someone who could draw plans. Hiring Summit Ridge Design was one of the best decisions we made throughout the entire process. From our very first meeting, Wade McGilvra and his team demonstrated an incredible level of professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail. Every conversation centered around understanding how we wanted to live, entertain, and enjoy our home for decades to come. Nothing ever felt rushed, and no detail was considered too small. They genuinely listened, refined ideas, and transformed our vision into something even better than we had imagined. What truly separates Summit Ridge from every other architect or designer we've worked with is the experience they provide. Their use of advanced 3D modeling and photorealistic visualization technology allowed us to walk through our home long before construction ever began. This wasn't a simple computer model--it felt as though we were actually standing inside the finished home. We experienced the scale of every room, the flow of the spaces, the natural light, the views, and even the smallest architectural details. By the time construction started, there were virtually no surprises because we already knew exactly what our home would look and feel like. Just as importantly, the construction documents were exceptionally thorough. Our builder always had the information needed, and the communication between Summit Ridge, us as homeowners, and the builder was outstanding from start to finish. The level of coordination and detail gave everyone confidence throughout the project. Today our home is complete, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. It is every bit as beautiful as we envisioned--and remarkably, it looks almost identical to the 3D presentations we experienced during the design process. We've since recommended Wade and Summit Ridge Design to several friends, all of whom have entrusted them with designing their own luxury homes. Watching those projects come together has only reinforced our confidence that Summit Ridge consistently delivers an extraordinary product. If you're building a high-end custom home and want a design firm that offers an elevated level of creativity, technology, communication, and architectural excellence, Summit Ridge Design stands in a class of its own. They don't simply design beautiful homes--they create an experience that gives you complete confidence before a single shovel ever goes into the ground. We recommend Wade McGilvra and Summit Ridge Design without reservation.

Here is all you need to know: Dan is the best architect you…read morecould dream of or be blessed with. Boom. No more needs to be said -- --but I will anyway -- He is just amazing. We had a HUGE job -- new construction and 3/4 of the house taken down to studs. We are out at the beginning of the Gorge and traveling here was not a big deal for him. That was so helpful and refreshing! Our project took a long time, and Dan was never-wavering and consistent in his constant shepherding. Above and beyond only begins to describe Dan. Dan takes the time to get to know you, how you live and what your space could look like for you. He is daring, but structurally diligent and sound. He is cutting edge on sustainability and eco-efficient houses. His designs have grace, beauty, simplicity, and strength. See his website, but trust me: Dan is the best advocate and dream-maker you could hope for if you are going to remodel. One of (the many) things I love about Dan is how he loves projects big and small. It is the people he bases his choices on for who he works for. If he likes you and what you are all about, he will take you on. Don't be put off with that -- it just means he will take your project PERSONALLY because he cares about YOU. (Renz, the Jack Terrior, will probably have to like you too. He goes everywhere with Dan.) And if you can "let go and let Dan," he will exceed all the smart ideas you thought you had for your space. I thought I knew all the solutions and neat things for our project. HA! Never in my wildest dreams could I have thought up what he did. Every day I walk around our house and think: I would have never thought of this or this is just so perfect. You are welcome to come see my house... but you should be forewarned: you will not want to go with anyone else once you see what he has done and once I get through smothering you with my accolades for him. One more thing: listen when he tells you who the good construction companies are in Portland.
