Even though I give food to lots of local food drives, I would not have made the trip over to the Food Bank myself without a little extra impetus! The Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo has just changed its name to the San Luis Obispo County Food Bank. They are located on Kendall Road, across from the airport, and will take direct donations. We had a bunch of dry soups near their expiration date, and packaged them all up in a box and took them over. They were happy to give us a short tour, and we were surprised to see that they are in a big warehouse space. Our "guide" told us that they feed 30,000 individuals in SLO per month. I also read an article in the New Times that stated that they are looking for a new director. Our donation weighed in at 27 pounds. We got a receipt, and felt good for taking the drive over to the Food Bank.

Like experimental stuff that wouldn't sell. Another time it was a crap load of old melting ice cream..Always hard old beans that never ever cooks and rice. Rice is cheap. I got junk while other people got a whole chicken or two. I called them once and said I didn't get one protein. Not even a small can of tuna. Oh well we can't help what people donate. Where does all that $ go???? Now that I live in a great community and so happy to be out of Tiajauna, USA, I think they should be shut down. I am so blessed by the most outstanding food bank around. It actually helps. They aren't ever rude. I felt they were pretty bad. I saw a lot of reviews that are same as mine. It's a cover to take rotten food and pad their pocketswuth $. I get milk eggs and cheese..lots of desserts. Lots of canned goods and meat. Fresh produce. It's like a store with a cart we use to go through each area. They aren't prejudice. Even if the town was 90% Hispanics they wouldn't treat white people and black people as well as their own like crap. It was not worth the gas!!! Very disturbing! They have a thrift store and do fund raisers. Most food is from USDA ..free! SO again where is that $ going? God I am so glad to have left that Tiajauna town. If I was Hispanic I probably would've gotten some of the milk I always saw in background. I said I really needed milk. Oh it's not for our clients,,???. Basically. I can't remember. Every week the volunteers who work here make sure they can hand out hundreds of bags of groceries to folks who might not be able to make ends meet. Many local businesses and private parties donate time/money/products to make this happen and the volunteers who run the daily operations are truly good people who probably don't get enough recognition.

They also connect people with other low income services like The Salvation Army or Social Services. After being in line, I was told I could not get cat food this morning because I "added a pet 2022 to 2023". I asked the name, or type of pet, as this is NOT true. I was refused an answer. I was refused proof. I asked for a copy of my 2022 application as it should show the same cats as 2022, 2023, and today, 2024. It certainly would be stupid to risk my cat food. I was told the 2022 app was not kept at Shepherd St. and I would be called to get a copy. I doubt that. But even if a staff error was made, I was "NOT getting assistance." Why not? And, we "can do whatever we want to you, including not helping you." Why? Errors can happen, and I was told "no error is possible". Why not? As a charity, you have a duty to be honest, reputable, and give a valid reason for any punishment. It is clear your staff is 1) mistaken, 2) have a dislike of me and so ended my assistance, or 2) I made an error on my 2022 app. Elder abuse, abuse of power, and bullying are unworthy of you. Particularly, when my partner blew his brains out in our tub, stole my reserve money, and tortured me 8 hours in a closet. Soldiers get purple hearts for surviving hours of torture. 1 in 3 women are harmed by a man. Shame on you enjoying hurting me even further today. You should never cause me more pain and hardship. Recipients should be set an example of how a reputable agency is run. Transparent, fair, and reputable. You punishing me and my innocent cats was inexcusable. In this country we are permitted to face our accuser and what we did. Who said I added a cat, and what is the proof?

I just rec'd a phone call stating at 205 pm that they can't come and get it because of the over time they would have to pay their driver. WHAT??? Your priorities need to be in the right place. Won't be donating again and as a trucking company I take in quite a bit.
