The Peak Center of Excellence - Reading Time

The Peak Center of Excellence

(9 reviews)

My infant son started at another day care center in Thornton when he was about 7 months old. When…read morewe moved to Littleton we needed to find new day care around 9 months of age. Within a few weeks I saw positive changes in my son that I attribute directly to the people who manage the infant room at Peak. He was much more interactive, happier, and his personality started to blossom to our satisfaction. He also settled down and started to take naps, which he never did at the other day care or when he was home with me. I observed that he felt safe and secure and responded with enthusiasm to the ladies who run the room. I saw the teachers exhibit a lot of patience with the babies as well as delight as the babies grow, learn and play. The woman who runs the infant room and her assistant are extremely well-organized, dedicated, and there is no question that they love babies! My son has now graduated to the next room and I was apprehensive about the change because both he and I were attached to the infant room. To our relief, his transition has gone more smoothly than we could have imagined. When I drop him off in the mornings, he runs into the classroom and knows what he's supposed to do (usually sit down at the table for breakfast). When I pick him up, he is in a good mood with a smile on his face, has been well-fed and has usually taken a long nap. Peak is not perfect, but they take responsibility for their mistakes, which is what I expect a professional organization to do. When they made a mistake in how much they were charging us, they immediately addressed it with me and told me how they would correct the error. They followed through with their plan. I'm sad to see that Travis H. recently had a negative experience with Peak and I'd like to respond to some of his observations. I have also seen staff in the mornings eating their breakfast & reading on their phones in the lobby. But I always attributed that to that person being available to open the front door during the busy time of the morning (security is taken seriously at Peak--parents are not given the door code; you ring a doorbell to gain entry). I have also seen kids older than my son being corralled in the hallway with strollers, but I have not observed the use of phones being taped to the walls. When my son graduates to the classroom where these actions may be taken I will certainly find out more about the reasoning behind these methods, if I observe them. As far as being understaffed goes, I understand that it's really difficult to find staff for day care centers because its a demanding and low-paying position. In the past 7 months we have been at Peak, staff has remained stable. I see the same faces staffing the classrooms everyday--they are friendly and often stop to tell me little stories about my son. So far, I know about only 1 departure which was due to personal reasons. Taking into account all the pro's and con's, we are overall very satisfied with the level of care here.

They were attentive, and caring. They do fun activities, and take them on field trips in the summer to the park, the local pool, target, the library and have a 'pajama movie day.' My child had a blast and learned how to spell her name, count, ABC's, and about other countries. If it wasn't time for her to go to Kindergarten, she would still be there.

We have had such a wonderful experience with Primrose. From the very beginning, the staff made us…read morefeel completely comfortable and confident leaving our daughter in their care. The teachers in the infant room are incredibly attentive, nurturing, and genuinely invested in each child. They take the time to learn every baby's individual needs, routines, and personality, which has made such a difference for our daughter. We always feel reassured knowing she is in a safe, loving, and engaging environment. Communication has been excellent--whether it's updates throughout the day, feeding and nap details, or just sharing sweet moments. It means so much to know how she's doing while we're apart. We've also noticed great developmental progress since our daughter started. It's clear the team is intentional about supporting growth through age-appropriate activities, interaction, and care. We are so grateful to have found a daycare that treats our daughter like family. I would highly recommend this program to any parent looking for a trustworthy and loving place for their child.

Update: Leadership at Primrose referenced "confidentiality requirements" and "steps already taken,"…read morein their public response to my review (seen below). In the interest of transparency, current and prospective parents should know that those steps included having their attorney at Goodspeed and Merrill send my family a cease‑and‑desist letter threatening a defamation lawsuit in conjunction with a fabricated CPS report if I did not immediately remove my review. The CPS allegations they threatened to file were created by flipping our concerns about the school back onto us; even if those allegations had been true, they still would not constitute child abuse. I'll be attaching the threatening document they sent so families can understand exactly what is going on. My review is based entirely on my firsthand experience. Any parent who wants to understand the situation more fully is welcome to reach out. Original Post: I'm writing this as a parent who keeps receipts- emails, timelines, photos, everything. And based on that documentation, I want other families to know what we experienced here. Our son came home with a bad bruise on his back, yet we heard nothing from the school. When brought to their attention, the school said they documented, but they repeatedly refused to give us the incident report. This wasn't an isolated issue. When our son caught a virus the school had emailed about a week earlier, the owner later denied the presence of the virus -- despite us having the original message. We also discovered missed diaper changes in our son's log that led to a severe diaper rash. From my perspective, this daycare is more focused on protecting its image than being honest with parents or providing consistent care. Please do your homework before enrolling -- ask for policies in writing and trust your instincts.

I have watched the directors make tough decisions and they have always done so in the best interest of the families. We are grateful for the way they handled COVID, ensuring that parents were a part of the re-opening decision and have taken the necessary precautions by making changes to ensure the safety and health of our children. I have referred friends and family members to them. The teachers also love my son. I originally chose Great Escape because they seemed to be the only place taking a September birthday at age one (part time). I am grateful for their care and flexibility. This summer they have had elementary care available too in which they have brought in special activities such as putt putt golf and oversized blocks for construction building contests.

The Director, Jennelle Kreishner, has provided us with everything we need and everything that Dylan needs. Dylan has a lot of special needs as he has a peanut allergy and is mildly autistic. He has done nothing but thrive at Great Escape. I highly recommend Great Escape for your pre-school child especially if you have two working parents who need a lot of flexibility in your child's care. Their prices are very reasonable, too!" - Phil R.
