Today we played host to the Funny Together Tour a clean comedy event. The event was sold out and both Andy Beningo & Rhonda Corey kept us laughing during the entire show. It's great to have clean comedians that Christians can support. I had a blast and will definitely see them if they return. Best part is that Vienna Baptist is such a great community church that does a lot for our community. If you don't have a church please visit and check it out.

The pastor was very kind and welcoming, but the fellow congregants weren't really doing it for us. Everyone seemed to be fairly teacherly, and not a single person asked us a question (that is, unless it was a transparent opportunity for the asker to speak at length and/or offer unsolicited advice). As a family, we have something to offer and a lot of life experience, but they'd never know, because they seemed so closed off to truly listening to us. In conversation, we found that their so-called progressive opinions or talking points reeked of tokenism and othering. It was uncomfortable to hear and felt very dated. There also seemed to be a lot of "church lady" types bossing people around and talking *at* us, rather than with us. The services themselves were a very traditional, cookie-cutter Christian format. Not much spirituality, inspiration, or beauty. We're probably going to move on.
