Overall, this is a clean, no-frills hotel that is good for a budget traveler. It's not the Ritz, but it works.
On the plus side, you can't get a better location. You're a few minutes' walk from the Eiffel tower and many other sights and museums, and short cab/public transit rides away from others. While the building is clearly old, they have updated the bathrooms relatively recently with new fixtures and tile, along with some of the decor and furniture. The room is clean, the AC blows cold air, and there is free Wifi. So this hotel really nails the basic minimums.
And by basic I mean very basic. On the negative side, there aren't a lot of amenities--no fridge, no breakfast, no iron, a closet so small I would hesitate to call it a closet. There is a carafe for boiling water along with some tea and instant coffee...again, basic minimums. And for some reason during the entirety of my stay the lobby smelled like garbage. I don't mean that as a metaphor for it smelling bad, it literally smelled like when you walk past a dumpster on a hot day.
The room is teeny tiny. Like hilariously tiny--it's the size you expect in a dense metro area like Paris, London, or New York. The single elevator is small as well and of course slow. While much of the room was recently updated or remodeled, some elements, namely the worn, red carpeting, show the building's age a bit. So, it's not perfect, but it definitely has it's advantages! read more
