Great free parking. Easy access and feels secluded and safe. Rooms are quirky and old but likable. Best Western has a little more work to do but fine for now. American Family Field is about a 20 minute easy walk. Sports bar is fun and the bartenders are pretty cool albeit sometimes a little slow. I would definitely come back to this hotel. We booked this spot because they had a pool and were close to the fair. The location was perfect and the even ran a shuttle for their guests. The hotel itself was quiet and clean. Our room had been recently renovated. The indoor pool and hot tub were clean and relaxing and had an outdoor patio if weather allowed. They also have a small restaurant/bar attached. The setup was a little different. Half of the hotel is apartments. Not like creepy live in a motel apartment, but seemingly normal rentals. The parking lot was limited and did not offer as many spaces as there are rooms, so try and get a spot early. Front desk staff was exceptional, so friendly offering recommendations in the neighborhood. Very tourist friendly and personable. Overall suited our purpose and would absolutely stay again without hesitation. read more

Terrible noise in the enclosed pool which is in the center of the hotel. Please don't stay there. The staff said it closed at 9pm. Never was closed. Parents sitting there could care less after I asked them to calm down the noise. The only thing good about it was the proximity to the airport. read more

"Pool and hot tub closed until further notice" Stayed there for one night with my family, was looking forward to the pool, but it was CLOSED. No warning was given prior to booking, and they would not accept a refund. I would advise you to CALL if you're planning on using the pool. Other than that, the parking lot is confusing to get to and the elevator is very small. AC unit was also very loud and woke us up everytime it turned on. Our room smelled and the tub was dirty when we got there but the staff was very friendly. The bartender Amanda showed us a great time. We went down to the hotel restaurant and bar three out of four nights we stayed. If you have the pleasure of getting drinks from her, tip well, she deserves it. We checked in today and we're told the restaurant is no longer operational but the barvwas open until midnight. We have dinner and come back fir an after dinner drink, but the bar is dark. Someone comes to tell us we can go across the street because they have a wedding the bar is closed. Everything on the internet and the book in the room say they have a bar/restaurant. This place has been recently remodeled and is super nice! Almost boutique like. The rooms were clean, beds were comfy, plenty of space, and we even had extra towels, pillows, and blankets in the room so no need to call the front desk! They even provided earplugs in the room, which we didn't need, but I could see needing used if there was a late night baseball game as it's only a couple blocks from the Brewers stadium. There were 6 fluffy pillows on the king size bed, which I loved! There's USB and regular plugs on both nightstands so plenty of charging spots. The bathroom is nice and has a built in nightlight on the hair dryer holder so it's easy to find in the dark. The younger African American gentleman at the front desk (because I suck at names) was amazing! He gave us ideas of places to go and was extremely friendly. And was patient with my checkout travel cards that needed applied. The breakfast was stellar! You got tickets and went to the bar/restaurant downstairs. There was hot food (eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, pancakes) and then lots of bread and muffin choices as well as cereal, donuts and pastries. Coffee, milks, juice, and milk we're all available to drink. And the breakfast workers were really nice and pleasant. The only issue I have with this place, other than the elevator is tiny, is the parking situation. There's an apartment building connected to the back of it and if the courtyard parking is taken by hotel guests you need to find a place to park around the complex. And it can be a bit of a walk. As long as you have the parking pass you can park anywhere. A nice hotel in a decent neighborhood. Not a lot going on around the area. Comfy and clean. Would definitely stay here again! read more

We felt like it possibly wasn't the best area. It is located across the street from VA affairs office and right down the street from VA hospital so if your looking for a place close to there it's perfect. It shares a parking lot with an apartment complex in the back. They were doing a lot of remodels to the facility at all hours of the night. The room itself was clean. The bed was comfy. There was a pub/restaurant downstairs that was super fun. There was a local guy name Mark he was a bit much at first but he grew on us. They had a poker game in the back good drinks. Exactly the same experience as a customer a month ago: I live 100 miles away, but my valid drivers license is still from a few miles away. The staff (Darla) would stick to the "it is our policy.." speech and didn't give me even the possibility to prove by other ways that I live in another state. If it weren't for Several of the front desk clerks, specifically Justin, my rating would be far less.. because of him and a few others, they made my stay there better than it would've been otherwise. We had been there for 3 while days and housekeeping didn't come to clean my room until they were made to. The Hispanic housekeeping crew made it really difficult to enjoy our stay to the fullest. The first day they had taken the dnd sign out of the inside of the room and put it on the outside of it. So the next day I took the sign away but they still never came to clean or room. They stared at us and it was really an uncomfortable feeling whenever we were around them. I only mentioned their race because there were two African American housekeepers that ended up taking care of us.. it's a shame too because the hotel is gorgeous and the housekeepers assigned to our suite make it bad for the business as a whole. I don't ever want to put my son in another position where he's exposed to blatant racism thru the actions of people we never did anything to. The lever should be made aware of what's going on and understand that people do the things those ladies did because they can get away with it. read more

We stayed at BW West two nights, 6/22/18 & 6/23/18. Location to Miller Park is good, an easy walk though we used UBER at $6 to the park and $10 for return. Our room was $226/ night which having now stayed there is high. This is a $120-$130 if you are one the top floor. We were on second floor, you could hear the people in the third floor room walk on the floor. The wall mounted Air conditioning unit while functional is a lower end unit and noisy. Breakfast was included, a automatic pancake machine did not work as well as a multi select coffee machine. We skipped day two breakfast- enough said. Elevator is small and was Out of service at checkout leaving a narrow stairwell to haul luggage to the lobby. read more

We are slowly making our way to different stadiums this years trip was Milwaukee and Chicago so in our search Best Western Milwaukee west seemed to be our best fit. We are a family of 3 the room was great, hotel staff was wonderful and very helpful and amenities were perfect. Great pool and gym as well as amazing free breakfast. The shuttle to and from the game was unexpected and very helpful. Hotel alone was an easy 5 stars, unfortunately the area it's in is less than great so that's why I only gave it 4 stars. If you are visiting Milwaukee for a game 100% stay here, if you are visiting Milwaukee in general and have a car stay here....great little spot! read more

O.M.G No, just no. Absolutely not. I would rather sleep in a tent under a bridge in Central Park. This hotel is attached to an apartment building. Shady. Shady. Shady. Their residents are loud, their children run amuck through the halls and they have access to the swimming pool. And they don't just live behind the security door either (regardless of what you are told.) The manager assured me there was a background check at these residents go through. The fact that there is a security background check AT ALL makes me uncomfortable. Which, I will say, I am surprised many of the people passed said background check. We walked thru the hallway and found many outside their rooms drinking and partying. I felt I was getting the college experience I never had, and in this case, was definitely not looking for. The plus is that their manager was really accommodating towards our plight and overall unhappiness. She gave an excellent suggestion on how to maneuver matters. My one star (since there has to be a star) would have to be for her. If you don't mind your hotel stay to resemble what apartment living in Milwaukee might be like then by all means this is the place for you. Just for the record-I did NOT stay here. read more

This is by far the worst place I've ever started. It rained last night... Water poured in through or window. Mattress had a permanent indention in it because it's probably 10 years old or more. Made a reservation and when i got there they told me that since i live within 30miles radius i couldn't book a room there which i been book it ever since 2 weeks ago and the lady in the front told me that they've been calling and emailing me which i also never got. So i think its unprofessional that they even sent me an email telling me that they're excited to see me and that if i wanted to cancel then i still can the day before but when i got there they're going to tell me that they've been trying to get a hold of me telling me that i couldn't book there. Horrible experience. The noise was so bad that I got no sleep whatsoever. There was a loud party on my floor and people were yelling in the halls, laughing, arguing, and playing music. Things were bumping against the walls. The COPS showed up sometime after midnight and knocked on the neighboring door - which is something I certainly don't want to hear when I want to spend a nice night in a hotel. Real shady stuff. My friend stayed on the first floor by the lobby and he said his stay was equally loud and miserable. The manager Julia never asked how my stay was and lied, saying that "I" said "my stay was great" and how "I" addressed how "pleasant" it was when I never said anything like that at all. All I did was check out and she said I was all set - that was it. Julia then emails me and suggests it's my fault that I didn't report the noise and that they would have accommodated me for a different room. I didn't even want a different room, I just wanted to leave. The hotel itself was so noisy it wouldn't have mattered what room I was in. You can hear EVERYTHING. I'm upset with how management has handled this. Seems like Julia only has her best interests in mind, not her customers. She responded to my email trying to dance around all of my complaints by reiterating everything she said in her initial email. Be aware of what is going on in your hotel. It's not my responsibility, it's yours. How no one at the front desk heard all of this is beyond me. I want more of a reimbursement, but apparently that is not going to happen. 2000 points barely puts a dent in the amount of points used on this shady place. I'm never staying here again. And don't accuse a customer of saying something they never said. Ever. read more

Stayed there Mon thru Friday on thanksgiving week. Several issues during the stay. Most alarming issue was safety. Was awakened at 12:30 am by slamming noises and beating noises on door and wall. Lasted for 1 hour and was absolutely terrified. At one point I felt like someone was going to kick my door down and come in my room. When I inquired, they said Milwaukee PD came and handled the situation.... Next issue the following two days were alarms. They had what sounded like fire alarms randomly going off. We would start panicking and getting dressed to leave and when we asked about it, they replied like nothing was wrong and it was just an error! One night it went off every two hours at 12am, 2am, 4am, then 7am! Terrible nights, won't be staying there again. When inquiring about it, just received a half ass apology and a shrug. SCAM ALERT and uncaring, unreasonable manager. So, I needed to book a last minute hotel after plans to stay with a friend fell through. I attempted to book online with best western, chose a room, put in my contact info and credit card info, and clicked continue. After this point I got an error from the website, so I tried the process again. After receiving the same error two times in a row, I came to the conclusion that the property must have been fully booked, as this was such a last minute reservation, on a weekend during summerfest none the less. I now got my credit card bill and realized I have two separate charges for $178.79 from them, so I called and spoke to Nick. I explained the website issue and Nick said well we held a room for you all night and you didn't show up so we can't refund you. He said we would have sent you an email confirmation. To which I replied 1) i didn't get any email 2) if you were panic-searching for a place to sleep for the night when you're out of town, would you be checking your email? 3) when the booking request resulted in an error would you have assumed you had a place to stay? And again nick said sorry but there's nothing they can do. So, they are charging me a grand total of $358 to NOT stay in their hotel (not to mention having to continue my frantic search in a mostly booked city, and end up having to stay in a crappy hotel even further away). Very pleased with our room! The outside of the hotel is a little outdated but the inside was updated and modern. We had a very spacious room that had a whirlpool tub and kitchenette. It was also close to all the places we went to. The staff was nice and helpful as well. Would totally stay again! read more

Horrific. my wife booked this room for my birthday to stay with our 2 year old and 2 friends, the website she booked this room advertised it as a 2room suite. When we got to the property the outside resembled a prison and there was nowhere to park. When we went inside it was under heavy construction. When we got to the room it wasnt a suite at all it was a tiny room with 2 tiny full beds. I immediately called the front desk and explained this wasnt ehat we reserved and the woman was extremely rude and snapped that it was non refundable. Our 2 friends arrived shortly after and they were bummed but we tried to make the best of the situation. Then to our horror a giant almost cat sized rat scurried across the floor. I called down to the desk and the rude woman said we dont have rats at our hotel. But they would send maintenance up. They never came so it was up to us to dispose of the rat. It gets worse when I was trying to sleep I felt things crawling on me, so I turned the light on and they were 3 horrible looking spiders in my bed. I wouldn't reccomend this place to my worst enemy, unclean, rude staff zero stars read more

I travel countrywide for a living and never in my life have I experienced unprofessional-ism and horrible customer service. I live (based on google maps) 29.4 miles away from this hotel (40 minutes) and was denied service because I live within 30 miles of such hotel. I planned a trip with my 2 boys and their friend (11, 9 and 11YO) to go to the Brewers game, tailgate and then spend an evening in a hotel for them to swim and have a fun Saturday night. I was checking into the hotel 2.5hrs before game time so that we could get in 2 hours of tailgating and was DENIED. I was baffled. Their response was that they put this information on ALL websites for their customers as policy. I went back and checked, and nowhere in my reservation from Kayak (hotels.com) was this information posted. So, not only did they treat me like we didn't belong, forced to find a better hotel (Hampton Inn & Suites Milwaukee West) but embarrass me in front of children and make us late for the game. read more

A 3 star rating for a 2 star hotel because this is exactly the cheap digs I needed for a few days visit to Milwaukee. First the plusses: The price is right, and by right I mean quite low. West Milwaukee is not as far as the airport, but not downtown, so we got the right balance of convenience & price. The #18 bus stops right out front, every 15 minutes to take you downtown for 2 bucks. You can't beat that, except maybe on the way from the train station with luggage, in which case I highly recommend Milwaukee's Yellow Cab Cooperative (414) 271-1800. The #18 goes along National to downtown, a main drag, and along the way you can stop for a large variety of ethnic foods which is what I prefer - I love Milwaukee, but don't favor it's version of American fast food. You will also find many good bars, and other assorted stores. There is a pool, and my room had a whirlpool tub, which I wasn't expecting. There is free internet access in the lobby area. The place was clean, everything functioned. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Minuses: they share a parking lot with a long term residency, and the on-site restaurant is more those folks' turf than they typical bland hotel restaurant. It's a smoky neighborhood tavern, with salty bar food. Which is cool, fair play there, but it did not meet my needs. The pool is hellaciously chlorinated. The parking lot was a little cramped, which doesn't bother me at all, but might affect some folks. The promoted eateries listed in the hotel's little black book with the exception of one good german place were all either very expensive (mostly steak joints) or pretty terrible, definitely skip those and go out for some ethnic food. read more

This hotel is the most unfriendly and un-welcoming place i have ever stayed. I travel a lot. What happened here left me disappointed and speechless and I am not willing to use a Best Western again unless corporate makes up. I flew in Milwaukee for press check at one of the biggest printers in the country. Unfortunately my slot turned out to be from 4pm to 2:30am at press. I called hotel to check in via phone, asked the lady to take a note so that I definitely have my room in the night. She did. I arrived at hotel at 2:30- night manager didn't want to open door. I tried to communicate. Finally she asked with a rude voice "What do you want?!". I told her I would like to get to my room and gave her my name. She told me extremely unfriendly "you are a no-show!!" I explained that I called earlier and asked for check in and a note that I may arrive very late. She said, "she doesn't care" I finally got a room, however felt completely violated. In the morning I asked for the manager. "Brian" listened to me and commented: "Well, you got a room didn't you?! This place was accommodating, staff was friendly, and they were very flexible. I stayed here while my apartment was being worked on and, as is usual with construction work, it took longer than expected. They happily allowed me to extend my stay. The continental breakfast is AWESOME. Hot food as well as cold cereals & fruit. I probably could have looked for a cheaper room, but I'm glad I stayed here. The only downside was that they're doing renovations here and it was loud some mornings. I believe they will be renovating through spring 2015. I didn't use the pool but it is indoors. I imagine on a full weekend parking can be tough. This was an issue for me Sunday night but not during the week. read more
