Was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The woman at the desk was very pleasant. Check in was easy the room was clean. Some of the reviews here say that it smelled, but there was no smell in the room that I was in. The bed was comfortable. The water was hot although the water pressure was a little weak like that they had shampoo and conditioner for you centrally located so many places to eat the breakfast in the morning wasn't terrible. I'm just a coffee and toast kind of girl, and it was more than plenty for me I would say for a family , it's probably spot on with the cereal waffles that they offered. My sister made a reservation paid in full ($300) in February 2023 for October 21st for one night. When we arrived the clerk informed us Best Western Hotel doesn't make reservations! After speaking with this very cheeky clerk we finally got a room. It was quite a hike down corridors and up several flights of stairs. We had to return to the desk because the clerk neglected to give us a map of the hotel floors. For $300 we had two queen size beds. The sheets looked clean. The flat screen TV wasn't available and the room was freezing. The toilet had a flushing handle that didn't work properly and drained during the night. I only gave this hotel the one star due to the restaurant within the hotel that was excellent food and service but as far as the hotel, I would give it minus 10 stars for many reasons. I would also have the front desk clerk fired that was very rude to us and threatened to call the police for no reason and to have us put on a DNR list when all we were trying to do was request compensation for several of the inconveniences we experienced! The first night we arrived, the toilet didn't flush and the room smelled of cigarette smoke even though it was a non-smoking room! We brought it to the front desks attention and they sent a guy down who just went around the room and squirted a little bit of air freshener but said they'd send somebody Mon morning(we arrived Sun. evening)to fix toilet. I recall that they never sent anybody until Tues morning at which time the guys that came didn't speak English but were very afraid of my little ESA Yorkie and freaked out jibbering to take him away so I brought him down to the cafeteria to join my hubby for breakfast and the woman scolded me and said by rights I was not suppose to have my dog in the cafeteria but yet we were told not to leave him in the room by himself either, very ironic for a supposedly pet friendly hotel. Plus, he is my ESA and that was made known to them upon check-in! What was I suppose to do with him, leave him in the car!!! Then discovered many other inconveniences as the days went by such as every poop bag station was empty for the duration of our stay, plus for people that did not bring their own bags such as I did, did not clean up after their animals but yet it mentions how the grounds are always kept up. There was this same crushed beer can on the ground for the majority of stay, same broken handicap sign on the ground the whole time. The floors were absolutely filthy in our room and they never once in our 8 day stay cleaned our room. I have pictures of how filthy black my slippers got and my husband's socks got dirty also. I have pictures of how black a tissue got just from wiping up a little spot on the floor. The sheets & pillow cases were very scratchy as though they hadn't been washed in a very long time. The sofa bed that was in the room that was suppose to be such an added feature was filthy and stained and very small! The shower handle was so stuck the first time I went to take a shower that it took all my hubby's strength to pull it loose to turn it on, then it squealed for a few minutes but finally did quiet down and work okay after that! The girl at the front desk was either asleep in her chair behind the desk or on her cell phone but very snotty and rude to both my hubby and I whenever spoken to, she should be fired, she certainly doesn't belong in a customer service position! I emailed the General manager on at least 2 different days but received no response. Almost all the help there did not speak English and so very hard to communicate with any of them unless you talk into their phone and then they translate it. Only a few of the staff were English speaking and friendly but most treated me like I was the foreigner! I have a whole list of issues in my notes on my phone but I'm going to just post this much now before it gets lost! This was suppose to be a top notch hotel but they only charge top notch prices, paid $1,079. for 8 nights which I felt was way overpriced for the service we received or should I say didn't receive. Don't hesitate to go to their restaurant called Tempesta's inside but beware of staying there in the hotel especially if you have a pet! read more

We were very pleasantly surprised with how well the hotel is run. The front desk staff could not have been more accommodating. We ran into a snag with one of the rooms not being ready and they got it ready in 10 minutes with apologies and a couple of free waters. There was definitely no smell in the hotel, it was super clean. There was plenty of parking and the grounds were clean and well kept. Short drive to down town where there are shops and restaurants. They had an exceptional complimentary breakfast with hot food and many many selections of foods to choose from. We will absolutely return for our next NH trip! read more

Most of the staff was incredible ( especially Jen and her husband) We came here spur of the moment and were able to make a reservation for 2 nights. There is certainly a lot of working men around( which made for an uncomfortable situation with their leering and cat calls.. to females, I would not recommend staying here alone as a woman) The 4 hours of landscaping outside this morning did not make for a good sleep in. The pool was clean and well kept, and the restaurant on site was a bonus. I don't think I've ever seen a more difficult place to navigate around the thousands of rotary's in a couple mile span and I live in Ma. I've never visited Keene before, but all in all... don't think I'll ever come back. read more

1. The room (253) smelled horrible. The smell was a combination of general very bad body odor, nasty damp, dirty foot smell, and long embedded cigarette smoke. 2. We tried immediately to change rooms, but the front desk wouldn't budge (they said the hotel was full, but clearly there were vacant rooms at that point). My young daughter has asthma and this stay was a challenge for her -- lots of coughing and sore throat. 3. We kept the outside sliding door open and the hallway door open to try to air out the room, but this hotel seems to cater to smokers -- there were multiple people outside smoking (some on their "balconies" (really just a narrow ledge) -- and the smoke wafted into our room, so that strategy backfired. 4. The WIFI was spotty at best, if we could connect at all. 5. A number of the outlets were not working which made things inconvenient. 6. I talked to the manager the next morning about all of this. She apologized, but did not comp or knock anything off the price. We paid a ridiculous $260 for a room that I would be reluctant to have my dog sleep in. 7. We travel to the area regularly, but will never be staying at this hotel again. read more

I love how they keep this place clean and that it's pet friendly. We were able to bring our dog with us. They're very sweet to our dog. They gave us a welcoming package for our dog which included treats, two pee/poop pads and poop bags to pick up our dogs poop. I believe anyone with a dog stay on the first floor so that we can just open the slide door and walk our dog instead of walking down the stairs and stuff. Plus our car is parked right by our room. If we come back to this side, we will be staying here again. read more

Stated 1 night last weekend. The staff was nice, the Christmas decorations were up and everything was cute. Room was clean, bed was soft, everything was great. We went out to eat with family so we didn't try the complimentary breakfast, will try another time. The big reason I'm giving 5 stars is because I was totally stupid and left some expensive perfume behind. I realized it was gone for sure the next day when I checked all my belongings at home (5.5 hours away) and couldn't find it. I'm normally SUPER careful and check hotel rooms many times before I leave and never forget anything -- but somehow, this time I did. I think I had it in the desk behind an empty bag and totally missed it. I thought it would be gone forever, but I called and the front desk people had it right away and let me know I could have a local shipping company pick it up and send it back to me. It arrived today! Thank you so much to the desk staff and housekeeping personnel. I appreciate it so much, especially since it's the holidays. What a gem! Our first stay as a family since Covid started and I was more than a little paranoid. However, the room was super clean, bed linens were very clean and no old comforter on it like you see in other hotels. All the staff from front desk, to housekeeping, to the women running breakfast were friendly and kind to my entire family, including my little ones who were unfortunately a little messy at breakfast. Which by the way breakfast was great and there were options for everyone. The pool was great for us too. It was nerve wracking staying in a hotel during a pandemic however I felt totally at ease here and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Keene going forward. read more

The rooms are a bit tired, but worse than that, ours was not cleaned properly. A strong chemical smell was immediately noticeable. There was food left from the previous guest in the fridge, hair on the shower curtains, someone's glue-on fingernail under the table, and a stain on the bed quilt. The drain in the shower was clogged, so I asked about it at the front desk. They said maintenance was notified and would fix it. I assume someone came to have a look (we left for dinner) but the drain stayed clogged for the remainder of our stay. Ew. Two good things I can say are that the front desk personnel are congenial, and that breakfast is a hearty spread. Does not help assuage a general feeling of ickiness though. read more

They wrongly put a hold on my account for almost $600, when they were only supposed to hold for incidentals.. when I sent a nice email explaining the trouble They've caused me and asked for possible best western points as compensation. The Best Western Keene is our hotel of choice when visiting the area. The staff are very hospitality, the hotel is very clean and it's a short drive to downtown. The breakfast is what you would expect a free hotel breakfast to be. Nothing fancy but it does the trick. Don't miss the after dinner cookies in the lobby! YUMMY! Our one complaint (hence the 4 stars) would be that the attached Irish pub, Waxy O'Connor's, has been closed for a few months now with no signs of reopening. We enjoyed the convenience of Waxy's which was quite the hoppin' place on a Friday or Saturday night with great live bands and a fun crowd. If that's your thing, as mentioned previously, downtown and it's many bars and restaurants is a short $7 taxi or Uber ride. read more

Very well appointed hotel lobby and rooms. The desk clerks and staff are among the nicest and accommodating I've met. The rooms are exceptionally clean! That's the single most important thing in any hotel stay. The king bed was as comfortable as my own and the thick lush comforter was just perfect. All the linens were super white and smelled crisp and fresh. The bathroom was spotless! The a/c heat units performed very well after the filters were removed. They were the only thing that could use some Maintance. Every hotel in the world could use help in that respect. The hotel restaurant/bar was really nice and inviting. I met the owner of the bar while having dinner. She was one of the nicest laid-back people I've met in years. Being from Florida I had tons of questions for her about the area and weather here. Even in a busy bar never once did she give me the impression she had something more important to do rather than making sure I was happy and welcomed to the area. The hotels breakfast room was excellent and stocked with just about every breakfast item you'd ever want. 24hr fresh coffee and decaf, cookies and fruit by the front desk and a 24 he. Snack area with tons of items for purchase. The hotel management was top-notch and also made me feel valued and welcome. I would stay in this hotel again and again! Oh and the airfreshing system in the hallways was fantastic. I hadn't seen that before in my travels. This hotel does have smoking rooms so you'd never even know as these freshener systems are obviously designed to remove unpleasant tobacco odors. We stayed here recently for a nearby wedding. I found a decent rate online, plus my AAA discount, so for just one night it was very reasonable. It looked like the hotel was undergoing some renovations, our room was semi-updated, but the bathroom really needed some tlc. It had certainly seen better days. The bed was comfy and the room was a decent size and clean. If we needed to stay over in Keene again, I'd stay here. BeWe SoHo, as we used to refer to it in college at KSC, was always a location of drunken townie karaoke and cheep cheesy attempts to lure in the college crowd. That's all I thought of it. And didn't think of it again, until a recent trip to Keene. Being the cheapest lodging option in Keene, I booked my reservation online early. Early enough to get the "advanced booking" rate of $84.99. Fast forward to a much less advanced time. I walk into the hotel to a grumpy man who seems to have been born without the ability to smile. That, or his mouth was paralyzed as a frown. The Frown could not find my reservation. They had a room, though, which he charged me $99.99 for... which is basically $100. I told him I had reserved the "advanced" rate, and he charged me $89.99. Now... the room. It was decent at first glance... not a smoking room like I had booked, but it had a patio, so I knew I could deal. THOUGHT I could deal. I go outside for my first cigarette. I'm enjoying it. "Oooooh, this cigarette sure is nice," I thought. "Yes.... I am enjoying this," my thoughts continued, "hmmm... but what is that feeling on my head..." My vision panned up... Giant spider dangling right over my head. So, I swatted him, and he seemed to be far away... but then I noticed... We were not alone. There were probably 200 giant blood thirsty arachnids dangling on strings and planning their attacks on webs above me. So I retreat. Turns out their battlefield was not outdoors alone... for they were experts on tactical indoor attack as well... although numbering only ten. I went to take a shower and the knob fell right off. Room smelled like smoke and they use a machine in the hallways to pump out some sort of smell. The remote in our room didn't work, they were nice and brought a few to try, none did. It looks like they did some sort of updating but still seemed old. The bathroom has a bottle opener on the door, that right there sort of tells me who really stays there. Four stars for four reasons... First, to the earlier reviewer about finding advance rates, the best rates are in the RoomSaver coupon books found at highway rest stops. That's how I checked-in at $64.99 for the night. Second, the bed was very comfortable. I'd stayed in other hotel/motel rooms prior nights and nothing was to this caliber of ultra-plush down comforter and firm bed and very soft pillows that sunk me into slumber once I closed my eyes. Third, I was able to control the heat (and allegedly the air conditioning though I didn't try it in the winter) with my own thermostat, which remotely monitored the wall unit. I moved the control to the setting I wanted, went out to eat for an hour or two, came back, and just right! Fourth, the room rate includes a hot breakfast in the morning: eggs, sausage, french toast, bagels. I saw people eating other spreads of yogurt, cottage cheese, fresh peach slices. When many hotels/motels only cater guests with a continental breakfast, this was an automatic star. read more

The parking lot was a friggin nightmare during my last stay. Full of ice and slush with no attempts to clean it up while I was there. It was absolutely treacherous walking from the lot to he hotel, something I had to do several times during my short stay. The lobby exuded a calm almost NYC-chic vibe. Not what you would expect in northern New England but very nice 2. The young man tending one of the stations proudly pointed out the 'fresh' watermelon he had personally purchased at the grocery store then cut/plated that morning. The carpet had not been vacuumed in goodness knows how long, the mattress creaked with every slight movement, the built-in hair dryer didn't work and on and on... My boyfriend and I come into Keene often. We have tried several hotels. The BestWestern gives you a nice room for your money and a great breakfast. I love having a REAL hot cup of coffee in the morning and a danish. It really makes a difference in our stay. You can have your breakfast FREE before you check out. I stayed here for a wedding recently and I have no complaints. The hotel was good, rooms were a good size, beds were comfortable (the beds were average, not like the new plush beds offered in fancier hotels), staff was friendly. Check-in was easy and quick. We were in our room quickly and explored the hotel. There is a pool, I didn't use it due to lack of time. There were two computers in the lobby with internet access, a printer was also available, I used this to print directions. My friend forgot a razor, and we were able to get a goodie bag with a razor and other bathroom goodies in it at the desk. Breakfast was included, it was average, but satisfying. Cereal, hot coffee, as well as a couple hot items were available. The next day was the wedding reception, at the hotel. The food was awesome, stuffed chicken... yum! The bar service and DJ were good as well. If I were a local, I would consider having my wedding here because the experience was so positive. After the wedding, we were able to spend some time in the hotel bar, it closed early, at 11pm, but the service was good. There are restaurants within walking/cab distance from the hotel, so we continued our fun down the street. I would stay here again! read more

Hell no. Well, unless you are broke. Toilet was not clean. NOT CLEAN. Bed sheets scratchy and little tiny pillows ( like bassinet pillows) on a KING size bed . WTH? The "clean" remote for the TV is useless...you need to push on the buttons for several minutes to change a channel. Went out for the day to return to an UNCLEANED room. We encountered a maid and asked her to clean our room...she did the minimal...emptied the garbage, made the bed, but did not clean the bathroom. The 4th floor is badly needing updated. Our faucet dripped and the tub drained so slowly the next person wanting to take a bath had to wait for awhile. The breakfast "which required a voucher" was the worst we experienced on our trip. We traveled from Oregon to Maine and back staying exclusively in Best Western Motels. I loved it. It's in a great location, well lit, clean, and staff will go out of their way to help you. Upon check in, you receive a text from Ivy the automated hotel assistant. You can just send a text if you need anything, and get a response. A very nice feature if you don't want to have to pick up the phone and call the front desk. Pool was open. Free continental breakfast. This could use some homefries. But overall it was good. This is a very friendly and accommodating hotel overall. No loud noise, housekeeping very friendly. Stayed a couple of nights a couple weeks ago when we were in the area checking out the fall foliage/covered bridges. Pros: 1. Nice lobby/breakfast area. 2. Plenty of parking 3. Friendly staff, for the most part. 4. Good location for the areas we wanted to visit. 5. Wifi signal in the room was pretty good. Cons: 1. Beds too soft, probably worn out. 3 out of 4 of us did not sleep well. Not much else matters if you don't get a good sleep. 2. They have a gym and pool, but no hot tub. With my back sore from the bed being too soft, it would have been nice to soak in some hot water. 3. Drain valve/stopper in room bathtub not functional. Could have at least tried soaking in the tiny tub, but no luck there, either. 4. Inconsistent breakfast hours, without proper notification. They told us when we checked in on Sat that breakfast was til 10:30. We had a nice, leisurely breakfast on Sun morning. On Monday I went down at 9:30, and the juice machines were shut off, and they were pulling everything into the back, and told me that breakfast was over at 9:30. Had I known, I could easily have been down there an hour earlier, and then got back to the room to shower and get ready instead of the other way around. 5. Some basic things missed when cleaning rooms. I moved a chair over when we first got into the room and found an empty soda bottle. Who knows how long it was down there. Certainly not the worst room I've stayed in, but by far not the best. Considering the high season price we paid, the value was especially lacking. Couldn't wait to get out of there. read more

2nd floor smells like it is still a smoking hotel, and the front desk staff couldn't get the magnetic swipes to work. I had to get mine reset, then walked up to my room, and it still didn't work. When I went back down, I was given no apologies, the girl was all frustrated and swiped about 10 cards while I stood there. Finally the other attendant asked, possibly the manager, for help. He also offered no apologies. Just rude. I get their machine is not working, but where is the guest service? My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend and we were pretty disappointed that the pool was under maintenance, which is one of the reasons why we booked the hotel. He was very disappointed that we were never informed that it was going to be closed that weekend. I felt as though the front desk clerk was not very friendly when we approached the desk and the fact that the manager did not come out to show her how to split a payment annoyed me even more. I will say that the room was very clean and the bathroom was very nice too, especially the shower. The mattress was a little uncomfortable but we only stayed two nights. We stayed here on Martin Luther King's Holiday weekend and this was our second here and we loved it! Our room are very clean, and everything seems new. Looks like it has been renovated. It was a little busy, but we didnt mind. They put us in a room on the far right in the second fl which was nice and quiet! They have a nice heated pool, but i wish they had a hot tub. They also have a fitness center and free breakfast. Wifi in the rooms. And our rooms are super clean, comfy bed n comforters!!! So overall we loved it here!!! Please think twice before deciding to book at this location. This hotel required my family (2 adults, 2 children under 3 years old) to book two nights to stay here. We decided that this was fine to book. Once we got to the room: The sliding glass door did not lock and had a sharp door bar to jam it closed as a means to replace the lock. The shower had pubic hair all over the tub and the bathroom was clearly not cleaned before we entered. We were provided with a pack n play. It smelled so horribly of dog that we asked for a different one. The employee laughed out loud, explained he must have forgotten to clean it, then brought us a new pack n play. The floor was covered with nails, screws, random dirt and trash. When I mentioned the first few things, I was laughed at. After my trip I filled out my survey. I do this every time to let Best Western know how my stay was. I have been staying at this hotel chain for 15 years. I was contacted by the owner or manager and screamed at. He informed me that I needed to ask for another room and that I was at fault. He informed me that he was not responsible for his employees. He also started to threaten to call me back after he cooled off and that there would be no refund issued because I had not done the correct thing. We paid ~$350.00 for two nights at this hotel. After being laughed at, harassed, and disgusted by the whole thing, I contacted corporate who issued us a credit. However, what a nightmare. There is nothing worse than to stay in a hotel that is so dirty another room would not even matter or to be harassed after the trip was over because the owner does not want to look bad. The other thing about the pack n play is that clearly people use the same cribs for pets. If one considers that dogs carry more parasites or potentially contagious and zoonotic diseases, and this hotel chain chooses to provide these amenities I would say do not opt for this. We ended up going to the local department store and purchased our own pack n play. There are much better places to stay. read more
