They were at my house within a half hour to inspect the unit and everything was installed by 3pm. When you live in South Philly, you know that hiring for home services can be challenging if someone isn't familiar with how to navigate tight spaces. It always stresses me out. My house is small and narrow and my water heater is in the most inconvenient spot. They were so kind, knew exactly how to get that water heater through my doorway with only an inch gap and installed it behind all sorts of pipes (see pic!). I don't think it could have been less stressful. Not only was the process smooth, but they really cared about making sure everything was working as safely as possible and explained it all. Considering how complicated the job was, the price was great. I called them because of a recommendation from a friend, and it was the best recommendation I've gotten.

Anthony and Steven came to save the day they got here on time ready to work, I had backed up waste coming into my tub, they didn't care about a messy job. I can't forget about the Receptionist April she is awesome, I she kept me calm and had them out the next day. My sump pump pit started overflowing in the basement, so we called Plumbing Pumps to take a look…read more The first technician that came examined the sump pump and "investigated" it, and very adamantly told us that it's "completely dead" and beyond repair and needs to be completely replaced, which would cost $2300. Seemingly with no other choice, we agreed. The next day, a different technician came to do the work. He started dismantling the sump pump without bothering to unplug it from the electricity, and as karma would have it, the pump which was supposedly "beyond repair" turned on and blasted him with sewage water (of course blasting the rest of our basement too, covering various things with the stink). He had to spend the next couple of hours cleaning it, and of course the pump was just fine. But despite him not actually replacing it, and himself saying that he has "no idea" how it broke, how it started working again, and how long it would continue working for, the company still charged as $150 for "fixing" the pump! Completely incompetent and shameless. I called them trying to get it refunded but they were dismissive and rude. Will see them in small claims court.

Mr Tubs Plumbing (AKA Matt Leach) did an excellent job for us - repairing a broken sewer line,…read moreinstalling a sewer line check valve and installing a basement floor drain. We recently purchased a 100 + year old South Philadelphia row home that requires many repairs and upgrades. We selected Matt for the plumbing because: 1. He was knowledgeable, confident and experienced in what was required for our job. 2. His price was in line with the companies that have good reputations on Angie's List and Yelp. 3. He didn't try to "up sale" us on ripping out all basement plumbing. 4. He was the guy who estimated and bid the work and was also the person who would actually do the work. 5. Unlike two of the companies bidding the job, he would get the required permits and do the job by-the-book. 6. He is just a hell of a nice guy, running his family-owned business, doing skilled and difficult work for an honest price. His crew was on time, professional, and his office person could not be nicer to deal with. Additional info: Matt also went above and beyond in two ways. 1. On the day of the job, I asked him to add a floor drain to the project. This seemed like a simple request from a home-owners perspective but given the limited space in the work area, it was a really difficult fit. But he pulled it off. 2. I ask Matt to leave the floor concrete open so I could make some adjustments to some other utilities that are also installed in this tight corner of the basement floor. While working on it I noted a void under/outside of the old field stone wall of the row home. I contacted Matt for advice and a day later he had one of his men back to pack the area with stone. He really didn't need to do this because, given the age of the home, the void could have been there for years. Matt just handled it. This is why, going forward, Mr. Tubbs will always be our Philly plumber. Final note: Matt also teaches plumbing in the evenings, so he really knows his trade. I know this is a crazy long review, so you probably think Matt is my brother-in-law or something. Nope. I'm just a satisfied customer who thinks you should give credit where credit is due.
