The Co-op in Rhos-on-Sea is much bigger than you'd imagine from the outside. Although it's narrow…read moreit goes back a long way so there's a good variety of groceries, newspapers and magazines on offer. They always seem to have a huge selection of alcoholic drinks, not sure what that says about the people of Rhos-on-Sea!
Not a bad shop, well stocked for such a small place (could be tidier though)…read more The weekday staff are very pleasant but evenings and weekends are a bit his and miss as the staff can be a little apathetic and offhand. The worst of all is the vile 'Man in Black' a rake thin youth with extravagantly coifed hair habitually dressed head to toe in black. This young man seems to have nothing but contempt and loathing for anyone who walks in the door (he seems to have taken a particular dislike to me) No greeting when you walk in, a faint sneer on his face when serving (sometimes giving way to open amusement), goods are slammed on the counter rather too forcefully and a reluctance to move out of your way (or a weary sigh when asked to move) when he is stocking shelves/fridge's etc. Sadly (for me anyway) he now seems to have enlisted the aid of the woman who works Saturday afternoons (don't know her name but she has a multi coloured hairdo more suitable for someone twenty years younger) as I walked in on Saturday and both of them seemed to be highly amused by me (and did little to conceal the fact) Not very nice really, it's getting to the point where I feel uncomfortable going into the shop when this young man is working and I reluctantly go to the Coop over the road. Talking to some friends about this last night it seems I'm not the only one he's managed to alienate as quite a few feel the same way as I do. If anyone in a management/supervisory position at the Broadway reads this, do something please he (and to a lesser extent his Saturday PM cohort) do little to enhance your business.
The Spar shop itself is ok, not a huge amount of choice but if you're after a paper, packet of…read morecrisps and a pasty you should be ok and the staff on the whole are friendly. At the back of the store you'll find the only post office in the centre of town. It isn't really big enough for a town the size of The Bay so you can sometimes find yourself queuing for too long. One or two more people behind the counter at lunchtime wouldn't go amiss.
One Stop in Mochdre is perfectly adequate convenience store which also incorporates a Post Office…read more It's very clean and modern, has a good choice of groceries and although not surprisingly it's more expensive than shopping in a supermarket it's not extortionately expensive.
