First, she made promises about our travel that she did not keep. Including complimentary upgrades and even the water view location of the resort we were staying at. The worse part was her constant harassment after we confirmed all of the arrangements trying to convince us to buy additional services. When we declined she became argumentative and sulky. She told my wife that her real commissions were made on the add-ons and that we were depriving her family of their lively hood by not purchasing them. How professional. This is the only time I have ever used this company and will probably be the last. Hopefully all their travel consultants are not running a scam like this lady.

Having traveled with Holbrook on 3 trips, I can say that they do a really great job. They take…read morecare of all of the details of a trip and work closely with trusted partners in destination counties who deliver the in-country guide services etc. It takes the stress out of travel. My husband and I have traveled to Costa Rica twice (Intro to Neotropical Birding and Birding Southern Costa Rica) and the Central Andes region of Colombia, all with our local Audubon chapter. All 3 trips were quite different, bit each was great and would highly recommend them. The itineraries are well throught-through and detaisl given up front are comprehensive. It's well worth reading the resources they share as they help you prepare in terms of what you need to bring along, and any vaccinations or medications that may be recommended for the conditions you will be encountering. Not all trips will suit all travelers, but Holbrook does a good job of helping you consider whether a trip may be right for you by indicating the length and difficulty of walks and other activities. My husband is more photographer than birder, and he really likes to eat. All 3 trips we took provided ample food for his appetite throughtout. The quality of the food has been good to excellent - no complaints.

After providing Holbrook Travel with years of business, my family member contacted the company to assist with planning our trip. Here is the pertinent portion of the email response we received from the company' Vice President: Holbrook's Corporate Policy allows us to only send travelers who are fully vaccinated. When you advised that the others were not vaccinated I did not mention it because I wanted to be sure we were not considering a change to the policies - especially for countries that have dropped all restrictions. There is no plan to update our policy at this time so, regretfully; Holbrook will not be able to assist you in planning this trip. So, even though Iceland is welcoming us and other unvaccinated persons with "open arms," Holbrook Travel has made its own internal decision that we are not worthy of being their customers. That is certainly their prerogative, just as it my wife's and my prerogative to decide that we will never do business with this company again.
