No ants, roaches, fleas, etc. The towels smelled like bleach. The stairwell didn't smell like pee as stairwells are inclined to do. 2) Comfort. A/C worked. Though the shower head was even with my nose, the water was hot, clean, with good pressure. Though the bed was harder than Epstein at a Build-a-Bear, I slept fine, especially with the thin pillows, which I fold around so much at night I end up with a beautiful origami swan in the morning. The room was not cramped. Best of all it had a "wood" floor, so I could walk around barefoot. 3) Customer Service. The dude was friendly. They accommodated my late check-in (9pm) without giving my room away. 4) Wifi. It worked. 5) Other things I liked: coffeemaker, refrigerator, iron/ironing board, free parking. I may have had a microwave, I don't recall. I liked the rolling desk chair, though I doubt the people below me did. A few notes. Noise. I had the last room on a Monday night, and never heard my neighbors, though that might be different on a weekend. Outside, you might hear the cars on the nearby freeway or pneumatic tools from the mechanic next door. Parking. It's free! (yay) But there were only five tight spots in the back that require a 16 point turn to get out. The tenants on the bottom floor parked their cars in front of their room so the lane to the lot is very tight. View. I looked out my window and saw it was going to be a Goodyear. And a Michelin. And a Firestone. Yes, it is a mountain view: a mountain of tires next door. And the intersection traffic. And the freeway a block away. It's probably too expensive for them to plant tall cyprus trees on the border of their property, so maybe they could just paint trees on the window. Location. Well, it's freeway close, that's for sure. It's across the street from a liquor store, which is handy. There's a taco place open past midnight within 400 feet. And a lot of chain fast food restaurants and coffee places are a block down Foothill. Other things to see in beautiful Sylmar, nicknamed the "top of Los Angeles", which got its ironic name for the latin words of forest (silva) and sea (mar): Nethercutt Museum (classic autos and musical instruments), the famous Casades spillway that ends the 340 mile journey of LA Aqueduct water, and the piece of fallen highway from the 1971 earthquake that the Doobie Brothers posed with for their album The Captain and Me. You can watch the Sylmar Hang Gliding Association on Gridley Street near Shimshaw. They have equestian centers and recreation parks. And just a mile from Value Inn is the San Fernando Swap Meet (Th-Sun). Considering this in the adult film capital of the world I have to wonder what they swap there.

It was pricey for what it was, but what isn't these days? All in all, no complaints.

Let's start with the good: excellent location for San Fernando Valley events, right off the 210,…read morelots of parking, clean, beds are comfy, nice outdoor areas (pool, tennis court, little park area for the pets), staff is very nice, within walking distance of stores/restaurants Now the not so good: nothing has been updated in this hotel since the mid 90's (think heavy colors, heavy woods, bulky objects, very small bathrooms old toilets, tubs have some scratches) Very old A/C/heater, doesn't turn off on its own. The area this is in is ok but its close to some of the rougher areas of Sylmar and attracts some of that clientele. The elevator is super weird. It's convenient and will do for a night or two. It's a little pricey for what you are getting but not having to fight LA traffic or drive all the way to Santa Clarita makes it worth it.

If you are road tripping through the Los Angeles area and need a clean, no hassle place to recharge quickly, this hotel does exactly what you need it to do. I loved the hotel being just off the freeway, making it very convenient for me to get rest and head back on the road in the morning without any stress. The thing that stands out the most is the cleanliness of the hotel. The room was spotless. The parking lot was also very clean and well maintained, which added an extra sense of comfort when arriving late at night. There are large parking spaces as well, which makes it easy if you are driving a larger vehicle or traveling with luggage. The rooms had fridges and wireless internet, but most of all, the service was good and I was well rested. It is a straightforward stay, but it delivers exactly what you want after a long drive, which is peace, cleanliness, and convenience. I would most definitely stay at the Travelodge by Wyndham Sylmar again.

I really commend him for being such a great and patient guy. He handled rude customers with kindness. We had to stand there while another customer overreacted when we arrived. Rick tried to deescalate while remaining calm and respectful. Kudos to Rick!!! Ample parking. I don't the the area too well but it felt safe parking in a well lit parking spot. The hotel is huge. Do not expect a Ritz Carlton. We knew what we were paying for when we chose to stay here. We never bring valuables but we also did not experience the things that others complained about. The hotel was very clean. The pool was very large and clean. The rooms are gigantic. No elevator. Yes, the place is older. Don't expect a renovated upscale building. This is an older building that with clean bedsheets, spacious rooms and a place to rest your head for the night. Snack machine : everything (instant soup and candy) were $3. There is also a drink vending machine (soda and water). We loved the bed it was super firm. Not one you can jump on. Pillows were awesomely plump and comfortable. We had a great sleep. At check in, all adults staying overnight, must supply their ID. It is then scanned into their system. I suppose this is to hold all adults accountable for ruining their hotel and to stop customers from having hotel parties. The walls are thin. You can hear trucks if they are coming from behind the hotel. You can hear your neighbors walk down the hall to their rooms. Air comes in through the balcony. Bring and wear ear plugs to sleep Check out is at 11am. The area is super clean. The pool area and trees are immaculately cleaned and trees and grass trimmed. Very maintained. The balcony's are clean. The hallways feel eerie because they are long and empty. Bedrooms have linoleum/laminated wood which was nice and clean. We loved that our room and area did not smell like smoke. Some places say smoke free and you can smell smoke. We didn't not smell any smoke. Check out was easy and quick. Just walked up to the window, let him know our room and gave Rick the key and we were OUT. Room had a coffee machine, alarm clock, TV, hairdryer, clothing iron, fridge and lots of clothing drawers. Two chairs to sit and relax. TIPS: Don't bring valuables Bring ear plugs. Pricing was ok, problem with this business, she was alone with the 3 kids, 2 were toddlers & she had to carry 2 large car seats. When I asked about this, the individual at the check in counter said he couldn't leave, however there was another individual in a glass enclosed area. The front desk counter individual said there was a cart, he could have stepped away from the counter since it was in the same area & assist her with placing the car seats onto the baggage cart. A male customer staying at the Inn volunteered to assist her with the car seats. The room didn't have a smart TV, nothing for small kids to watch & the most major problem, BED BUGS!. If it were possible on the rating scale, I would give them a zero.

Came to this hotel around Noon on a Thursday. I decided on this place because it was about a 10…read moreminute walk from my boyfriend's house. I've also been here before for their hourly specials. You could ask for a room here for an hour and it's only $10 bucks. That's like super cheap. In my area you get the same deal but you have to buy at least 3 hours. The Asian dude in the front office was hard to understand. I asked him how much for a room for the whole night. He said it was $45 dollars. In all honesty I thought it was too much. I imaged paying him $30. So I asked if he can go any lower. He said $40 but I can't have anyone spend the night. I was like that's fine. Went to my room. It wasn't the flashiest. Basically a bed, a table with two chairs, a flat screen TV, and the bathroom. First thing I noticed is that I only had 1 blanket in the room. So I went back to the front desk and asked the Asian dude for another blanket. He told me there's one already in the room and if your still cold turn on the heater. So I went back to my room to find out the heater wasn't working. Well at least the TV. had basic cable so I watched TV. for a bit. Left the room around 1pm came back to the room around 4pm with my boyfriend. I was stopped by the Asian guy. He was yelling out, "One, One" I told him he's not spending the night he's just going to chill in the room for a few hours. The dude seem to understand and went back. I think the dude owns the place and lives in one of the hotel rooms. So my boyfriend and I did our thing and I took him back home around 7p.m. Getting back to my room it was actually getting kind of cold. You can hear those San Fernando winds blowing. I looked out the window but the view is not worth it. It was just of the airport across the street. My friend called so I started talking to him on the phone. I wasn't sure but I think someone was bagging against my wall to tell me to shut up or just people banging. It was kind of fun looking out my window and seeing how every hour different people leave and come into the hotel. Feel asleep watching the Food Network. Woke up left my room around 8a.m. to do some errands. Came back around 9:30am to the Asian guy reminding me that check out time is at 11a.m. So I got back to my room showered, watched a little TV. and checked out. Overall, I think this place is good. I mean it's hard to beat $10 bucks and hour. Also it's the only hotel on this street that I know has cable and flat screen TVs. Also I mean I paid $40 for a night at a hotel. My friends told me that's about average price. Only thing that messed up my stay was the Asian dude being like a "Big Brother" watching over me. He made my boyfriend uncomfortable when he told us I couldn't have any guest over. He even told me to pay the Asian dude the additional cost for having an additional person spend the night. I was like No, your not spending the night so there should be no additional cost. I've been to two other hotels in the same street, so far this one is the cleanest looking one. I might try another one next time, if I do choose to stay in that area for any reason.
