TUTORING CLUB OF POWAY IS AWESOME!!!! My son began after his GATE classes ended at Westwood…read moreElementary around the age 10 and is now 17. Originally i I wanted him to adjust to middle school a little more smoothly so we did the summer bridging program. That was the beginning of our incredible relationship and he has never looked back only forward. He is an avid reader and a good STAR tester as well. At the time he was also playing competitive soccer for a local soccer club, which he continued for several years as well as playing recreational indoor soccer on friday nights. The Tutoring staff SUMMER, STEVE, RACHEL, SEAN, ANDREW, JAVIER, KIM, CHARLOTTE, etc etc were so cooperative. Often times, my son had so much homework and along with practices, tournaments both in San Diego and out of town, he always knew he had Tutoring Club behind him. My son Gabe is now a senior at RBHS and in the year 2007 we lost our family home to the Guejito fire that hit the Westwood area pretty extensively. While we were devastated, Tutoring Club was his safe haven. He had friends there, felt comfortable with the staff and he knew his best interests as well as those of our entire family were in their hearts. He is off the charts right now. He has taken the SAT 2 times and is planning on the 3rd time in October to better the average of the scores. He took 5 AP classes last year only because RBHS didn't offer AP Spanish or it would have been 6 AP classes. Along with his classwork, he was doing 6 1/2 Speech and Debate classes which involved weekends and long hours. In the midst of it all, he also took the ACT/SAT prep course and was quite pleased to refer some of his friends to the Tutoring Club. His ACT was pretty high and he is being recruited by some pretty high rated universities from across the country and locally. He is currently taking 5 AP courses such as AP Psychology, AP Government, AP Calculus (2nd year),AP English Literature, AP Biology an d Speech and Debate class (where he is the Captain of the Exempt team). He was just named an AP Scholar for his accomplisments and also been named as a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar due to his PSAT/SAT scores and his GPA. As a side note we even had our older daughter who was enrolled at CSUMB take a few sessions because her marine biology major required a math course which she anticipated problems in during her summer off. But she took a few sessions and graduated this past spring with HONORS. I cannot sing the praises of Tutoring Club any louder and encourage anyone and everyone to send their child there. Lori Hutter

At first, my child was hesitant to be tutored but after a session, he knew that this place would be able to help him immensely and give him the guidance he needed to do well in academics. Whenever he struggles on a particular subject, he will actively request that I have a session booked so that he fully understands the subject matter. Ms. Eva and her tutors have been there for my child these last 3 years and we will continue to go to this Tutoring Club for years to come.

There are not enough words in a dictionary to describe what brain balance has done for our family!…read more When we started 5 months ago, we were living in full blown crisis mode with our daughter. At 11 years old, she was eloping from school 2-3 times per week, would throw raging tantrums, hygiene was low on her priorities, and she was very sad and withdrawn. I could never properly explain our struggles. It was like living with a toddler trapped in a full size child body. Upon receiving her assessment, on paper they confirmed everything we'd seen for years. Her brain was weak on the right side and she was an average age of 4 years old. Fast forward 5 months, her brain has reconnected and both hemispheres working in concert. She's happy, focused, can read, tantrums are nearly gone, she able to be reasoned with, he fine motor skills are working, she knows her body in relation to her surroundings. Her confidence is building, her self image has improved, she has expressed goals of wanting to be a writer or a disney imagineer. She's now at an age level of 11-18 depending on the range of test. School is astonished at her growth. Our family can be a family doing family things! We just enjoyed 2 days at Disneyland with zero meltdowns. Something we've never been able to do before. Jon, Amanda, Rachel, Lauren, Chad and James have truly been the support net our family needed! Thank you for the incredible dedication you have to work with kids who need this the most. You mean the world to us!

Overall I was very skeptical when beginning brain balance. Our 9 year old daughter was struggling…read moreevery day in school. Crying on the way, refusing to do homework. Major aversion to learning. I did a TON of research, spoke with pediatricians (4), spoke with two principals, our school, her teachers, and had her tested at brain balance (I think it was $195) and also paid over $3000 dollars to have a two session testing done by Psychiatrist who is the person who does the testing for the Poway school district when kids fall two years behind in school. Because my daughter wasn't two years behind I had to pay (insurance doesn't cover it). Obviously the 3k test was very comprehensive and took two weekends to complete. The diagnosis was visual processing disorder and ADD. She was given the recommendation to go to therapy and get on meds. Visual processing disorder basically means: She can't read instructions and turn them into action, couple that with ADD and learning was a hot mess for her. The brain balance assessment does not diagnose, but it did indicate that among other weaknesses her main deficit was visual processing. That gave me confidence that aT least their testing was accurate. Then comes the huge sales pitch. The program was expensive, relatively new, etc etc. After much delay, thought, education and doctors opinions and therapists appointments we signed up for half the sessions they recommended in case it was not working. I have to admit I was still very speculative but there was no harm in it, and the worst possible case was that I lost money. I am happy to say she loved going. She's finishing her sessions next week and her scores in everything started under her age. She's now over her age group in everything except visual processing. Her grades have improved dramatically, her resistance to homework has improved dramatically and her confidence in learning has improved dramatically. We have zero crying and she never said asks to skip school anymore. She still has a ways to go visually but we now have the exercises to strengthen them and we know to get her vision checked and use her glasses constantly. Overall, we put our heart and soul into figuring out what was wrong and then helping her. So it's difficult to say which of the one million things we did helped us work it out, but I do think brain balance was an integral part of it, to my surprise. And I'm happy that we found a solution for the moment that allows her to feel confident and enjoy her day more, but we didn't have to medicate her. We are keeping medication options open and watching close, but so far this is working for her and I'll hold off on meds until I feel i have no other option.

I never call these ads normally but I figured I had nothing to lose and that is how I found Rshim. Seriously the best tutor ever. I have worked with other tutors in the past and this is what tutoring is supposed to be. Rshim figured out my learning style before I even knew what it was. Little did I know that flash cards would change my life. Rshim broke down the concepts for me in a very understandable way and helped me make me flash cards that made memorizing formulas and reactions in no time. I honestly think I will make flash cards for anything I am trying to learn in the future. Great tutor, great person, and someone you need to hire if you need a tutor. Thanks again Rshim!

I tried 2 tutors (one independent, and one through a larger service) that were okay, but there were some issues with communication, material, and just general approach. My son is diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety, and has an IEP (for the last year). Rshim was so communicative, clear with him and us, flexible, accessible, and overall really showed us she knows what she's doing and she really cares. She really has been providing unparalleled service and we consider her a part of the family. We took a break for the summer, but will definitely need her when the Fall semester kicks into gear. Thanks Rshim!
