When I…read moretraveled to London, I made it my mission to find a restaurant with amazing wings and most importantly, hot sauce!! I scoured Instagram for wing places in London and drooled over Butchies wings. When I finally arrived, I was not disappointed. It's an order at the counter type of restaurant - which you receive a buzzer and have to collect your own food. I ordered the buffalo wings (which are breaded) and 'hot shake' fries. The wings were cooked to perfection, the breading was crunchy and flavorful even with the amazing amount of hot sauce they put on top. The hot shake fries were fresh a Cajun-type seasoning. The wings come with a blue cheese ranch dipping sauce that was super tasty. The only reason I wouldn't give this 5 stars is the small size and cramped seating. The upstairs was very tiny with mostly everyone closely sharing a booth.

The city bustles about…read moreoutside, but through these doors, it's time to chill and gorge on unhealthy, yet delicious deep-fried goodness. If you're not too familiar with Southern American cuisine, fried chicken & waffles has been all the rage since, like, forever. It's been making a big comeback in LA recently, however, and we have one called 'Birdies' wit ha similar fried chicken & doughnut concept. Sadly, though, the taste of the chicken itself isn't really any better than you would find at any of the local fried chicken chain restaurants you'll find scattered throughout London. The thing to get your first time here are either the wings for starters and at least one fried chicken & waffle dish. My suggestion: Go with The Original Waffle Burger- A hefty portion of 2 100% free range chicken thighs, bacon, American cheese, house BBQ, mayo, hot sauce, & Canadian maple syrup, miraculously wedged between 2 freshly griddled waffles. At £14, it is a bit of a splurge, but believe me, if you like to eat, this is well worth it. They have plenty of other, less gut-bursting options like fried chicken skillets, smaller burgers- including a veggie beet burger- wings, sides like deep-fried pickles, cheesy Korean fries, & jalapeño corn pudding, and of course, decadent desserts like the Ice Cream Doughnut Sandwich & Deep-Fried Waffle with Ice Cream, Cinnamon Sugar, Chocolate & Caramel Sauce, & Whipped Cream. Oh, and don't forget, such an unhealthy meal just wouldn't be complete without plenty of booze to go around, from cocktails, ales, beers, & ciders. Yes, it is ridiculous. I hope you have friends to share with. It might help it to go down easier.

The big letdown is the food. I have yet to find a good Thai pop up in a pub and this was another example of this. Six of us ordered dinner and the food came out in drips and drabs. It took about 30 minutes for everyone to get served and the standard of the food was not great. Definitely homestyle not necessarily made by someone who is a proficient cook. The menu is definitely not all Thai (chicken katsu?) and the food is sloppily put together and not very good. It's very unfortunate because the pub itself is amazing. Come for drinks but go elsewhere for the food.

This is the question I pondered on whilst waiting to be served at The Blue Oyster Fish Bar, which coincidentally claims to have won a prize for best fish and chip shop of the year. This is a nice Nando's, I did originally struggle to get a table being refused at first, I was lucky enough to be passing later on and noticed a few extra tables to dine in; with it being a Saturday in December, it was understandably very busy, considering this they did a very good job not to let standards slip in terms of service and food quality. the manager who served me was very friendly and the other employees were presentable. It was a little difficult getting to the toilets at the back due to how busy it was. I ordered a Medium Chicken Butterfly with Peri Chips, Creamy Mash and gravy, which came to £14. I do find Nando's a tad expensive for what it is, but with this delivering a good meal and being one of the few places nearby, I could get a table and be in and out quickly, it was worth the price on this occasion. The chicken was cooked well, the gravy went perfectly with the mash, which I always find to be lacking something. It is a shame the gravy is only seasonal. A pretty good Nando's location. 4*
