I bought my bridesmaid dress for a friend's out of town wedding. I went in for the order with my 2 week old son in tow, and they were so accommodating and warm. When my dress arrived, I was promptly advised, and went in to pick it up, again with my little guy. Visit best for bride for your first dress shopping experience! And ask for Milaine!! She really listened to me and found me a dress I dont think I would have picked but loved it so much I cried. The dresses fit wonderfully and any clips used were strong and grippy so no falling off. I had a fantastic experience with Milaine and would very honestly recommend her and this store. read more

Let me begin by saying in all fairness I had to give one star as there is no option for a lesser score. When I called the store to confirm address the lady who answered the phone was rude and has zero social skills. When we arrived nobody greeted us and they put us in a back corner room at the back of the store which was very small. I do realize Saturdays are busy but I kept my eye on the larger changerooms and consistently they always had 1 or 2 open the whole time. When it came time for alterations it was a disaster so much that my sister had to go get her dress done elsewhere. Went shopping with my friend for her wedding dress and my bridesmaid dress. We entered the store and were immediately greeted and offered mini cupcakes! My friend is not a size 8 and we've been having issues finding bridal store who will even assist us little alone go above and beyond like this store. The sales associate was working alone and managed to come "strap in" the bride to be, provide honest and constructive criticism and even offered to call her other locations to see what they had in stock. The great part about this store is that they allow brides to rent their dresses for half the cost of buying! When I asked to "try on" a dress that was a sample size 8 (and I am more like a 14) the woman quickly snatched it off the mannequin with no attitude and even helped me pin the dress up so I could visualize what $200 of taffeta looks like! Wedding dress shopping can be very stressful but the staff at Best for Bride makes it a lot easier and more comfortable. They are so helpful and honest. They didn't have the style of bridesmaid dress that I was looking for so they called the other locations and even offered to have a sample sent to their store from Toronto just so my girls could try it on. The first time I went here, one lady was very helpful. I loved my experience with her. She was very intuitive as to what I wanted and the style that suited me best. I ended up liking the dress she picked for me. Due to financial and academic reasons, I could not get the dress until after I finish my program. When I was about to come in to pay for the dress, I called them to ask about ordering a dress smaller. I do not have any experience in ordering dresses and didn't know that this was possible and awkwardly asked about it. The lady was curt and said, "what is your main question" condescendingly. My mistake is that I thought that although they will measure you now and can buy it, the latest 6 months prior to the wedding date, you can order a smaller dress. The end of the conversation is this, "yes, you really need to order the dress now (May 21), and yes, you can order a smaller size. Bye." She hung up the phone immediately when I wanted to confirm that I was going to come in for my appointment to buy the dress. I called again, in case that she "accidentally" hung up on me. Well, no one answered the phone a minute later, five minutes later, but 20 minutes. Even then, the person answered the person was laughing and I just didn't feel good about buying a dress with people who made me feel like I should have known everything about ordering a dress for the first time. They sent me an email saying that they were sorry and emphasized that I really need to observe the time it takes to order the dress. I know this now, but should someone treat customers rudely in explaining something that the associates know more about? By the way, on their website, there are testimonies where women had great experiences with Best for Bride because they were in a rush to buy dresses and some were able to get their dresses 5 weeks prior to the date. Can you blame a newbie for asking about ordering the dress later rather than the perfect 6 months before? Perfect it was off the rack? Now, I still don't have a dress. I got an apology and slap on hand for "asking" if I could order the dress a bit later than usual and if I could order a size smaller than measured. I was going to get the dress as B for B notified me of the sale for my dress. I am sure most people will have a great experience here. I just had a bad experience as a newbie in the whole wedding shopping inquiries. Our experience at Best for Bride was great. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful (we worked with Susan). They got me in and out of dresses and offered great advice and support. They listened to my concerns and made the whole process so easy. We went to three other shops in Barrie and returned to Best for Bride because the customer service was unmatched. Overall great experience. I did buy my dress from them. I would have liked more guidance at the beginning. I had no idea what type of dress would work for my 5'1 115 pound frame, when I said this one employee simply said pull them out and ill get you a room. After trying on one dress a new employee came over grabbed my friend and went back to get me the one. They did find it and the rest of the experience was amazing! I left the store and came back a few hours later and was greeted with a friendly smile and when no rooms were available I was lead to an employees only area. I appreciated everything they did for me that day. The help, advice, relaxed atmosphere and amount of miles the employee put on walking back and forth trying to find me the right veil was amazing. my first experience with best for bride was ok... wasn't the greatest but they were helpful with getting me into many dresses and lacing me up. My only complaint would be that they don't have many people working each shift so my sales rep wasn't always around when i needed her which got frustrating a little at times. However, their customer service is amazing, i contacted them multiple times via email concerning quotes on some of their dress, and other inquirers often within 2 days i had an answer. not only that their prices are the best around. read more

I would not recommend Best for brides. They do not size correctly telling people they need to lose weight to fit into a dress, and then sizing them 8 sizes to big, another 3 sizes to big. I guess they wanted the alteration business (which they did not get). They sold my friend one of the sample dresses and did not even discount it. Just threw in a set of bra cups. They were not accommodating we asked if we could come earlier to pick up dresses as we are from out of town and they were rude about it, only concerned for new clients. read more

I had a good experience shopping for my wedding dress, but only when I shopped with Milene and Brendon. The manager and the other sales woman were standoffish and, despite the fact that we had made appointments, didn't help us as much. This business only gets 3 stars because, while I had a good shopping experience with them, my alterations experience was horrible. If you want to avoid unnecessary stress, avoid getting alterations done here! My wedding is Oct. 3, and two weeks before the date, the woman hadn't even started my dress yet! To be clear, I called Best for Bride 3 months prior to my wedding to make alterations appointments, only to find they only do them 4 weekdays per month, from 12-9. Since I work Monday-Friday 12:30-8:30, that didn't work for me, so they gave me the home number of their in-house alterations person Christine so I could make appointments with her at her home at my convenience. I dropped off my dress for alterations on August 4 (two MONTHS prior to my wedding date) with Christine, at which time I found out Christine had recently broken her hip. I was understanding. She told me she would be able to finish the body in August, then have me in for a fitting at the end of August to look at the length, at which time she thought her hip would be healed enough to do that. I agreed to this. I didn't hear from her AT ALL in August. Finally, around Sept. 7 I called her to find out what was going on. She gave me a bunch of excuses... her dog had run into her and delayed her healing, and she also got behind due to another dress being more involved than originally anticipated. She promised she would be doing the dress the next week on Tuesday/Wednesday (Sept. 15-16), then I could come in for a fitting at the end of the week. I agreed to this, still trying to be understanding. Sept. 15 and 16 came and went, and no phone call from her at all. On the 17th is when I started to get really stressed. I started Googling other local alterations businesses, and there was a review for hers, which is the other one listed on the Body Perceptions page, saying she actually gave a dress back two days before a wedding without starting it! I also started looking at Best for Bride reviews, and found most of the negative ones were a result of alterations work (she is the alterations person for Best for Bride in Barrie). I found another business that had glowing reviews, called that business and made an appointment to take the dress there the next day. I called her to find out what had happened, and to have the uncomfortable conversation telling her I would be taking the dress back, had she not started it. At this point she seemed MAD that I was calling at all. She still hadn't started it. (surprise) When I told her I would take the dress back she seemed incredibly angry, to the point where I worried she would do something to the dress before I could take it back. I was on edge the rest of the day until I could make it to her place. When I arrived that night with a friend of mine, she raised her voice a few times, and indicated she thought it was unreasonable that I was questioning her. I took the dress anyway. The cherry on top of this lovely story is, when I took it the next day to the new alterations place, the woman was able to guess that Christine was the person I had taken it to in the first place, as apparently she's had A LOT of brides come to her last-minute with the exact same issue, and other issues including shoddy work! I'm almost relieved she didn't have time to get to my dress now! TL/DR: Best for Bride Barrie is great for shopping, but PLEASE take your dress to get alterations ELSEWHERE, unless you want unnecessary stress close to your wedding day. read more

Taylor was absolutely wonderful!! My parents and I went in and she directed us to pick a few dresses and she would get my change room ready. Well, we picked more than just a few lol but Taylor took them all and instructed me how to step into and pull up the dress, and then crack the door to help me do it up. After a few dresses, she asked what our budget was and while I was showing my parents a dress, Taylor quietly removed all dresses that we had picked out that were out of our price range before I had a chance to try them on. She explained "I don't want you to try a dress on, fall in love with it and have your heart broken when you can't get it" - absolutely amazing! After seeing what dress style I was settled on, she brought us over a dress that she felt suited what we were looking for and was in our price range. Once we had it narrowed down to 2 dresses, I tried them both on again and we all decided on the final one; the one Taylor had picked for me. At that point, Taylor brought my parents to the other side of the store, dimmed the lights, handed me a faux bouquet and had me walk down the carpet runner to meet my parents! Needless to say we cried and that's how we knew it was the one. Taylor created a magical, unforgettable experience that my parents and I will cherish. I can't recommend this store, or Taylor enough!! This store is so bad it should be called Worst for Bride. My bridesmaids and I had such a terrible experience from start to finish at this store. It made the process of selecting and ordering bridesmaid dresses so difficult and stressful. They will not take a credit card over the phone, only e-transfer so it was very difficult for out of town bridesmaids to order their dresses and there is a one day delay in processing the e-transfer so ordering and pick up were delayed. The store never answers the phone so my bridesmaids had a very difficult time getting someone to answer their questions about sizing. They mixed up two of my bridesmaids and almost missed including their dress in the order. Two of the dresses were shipped to the wrong location for pickup. One of the dresses was not ordered with the rest, which delayed delivery by two weeks and the staff blamed me for this error and worried me that the dress would be a different colour as it may have come from a different bolt of fabric than the rest. Then when the dress arrived it was damaged. I addressed all these issues with the manager only to get a generic email response. To top it all off the 15% or 20% percent discount they offer for ordering a certain number of dresses is falsified as I confirmed that one of our Dessy dresses is $284 - regular price at another store but my bridesmaid ordered the same dress at Best for Bride - regular price 312 and brought down to 282 WITH the 20% discount. Save yourself TONS of hassle and purchase your bridesmaid dresses ELSEWHERE! read more

I had a great experience here. I first went to another bridal shop, that I also loved, but couldn't find anything that made me fall in love with my dress. We headed over to Best for Bride, which was having a huge clearance sale. I found my dress within twenty minutes, and I LOVE IT! Because it was a clearance dress, I didn't have to deal with ordering, so I'm not sure about ordering from them. But for the cost and the quality of my dress, I couldn't be happier! That said, I do have to warn that if I had not had the experience with the first bridal shop, I may have been a little disappointed. At the first shop, the person helping me waited outside the dressing room and helped me get into my dress immediately without my family seeing the dress. In this store, I had to open the door and my family had to call help in as the sales person was at the front of the store (fitting rooms are in the back). This meant my family members saw my dress before it was ready to be seen. This may have been because I didn't have a pre-arranged appointment, as I didn't realize this store was open ahead of time. However, we did call ahead, and we were the only people in the store at the time. Again, for the price, I really don't care much that my family saw it ahead of time, but if I had been looking for the bridal shop experience I would have been disappointed (and I think my mom was disappointed that she saw the dress before it was ready to be seen). Aside from that, the staff was knowledgeable, reasonable, and flat out awesome. I would HIGHLY recommend this store to anyone looking for a dress at a reasonable price! read more

brides beware; I just recently had a horrible experience at the best for brides shop in barrie on dunlop street. I called back in November of last year to ask about alterations for my wedding dress and I got a quote also. The owner of that store told me to call back in jan to make an appointment. So I did. Everything was all set for feb 13th. I went for my first fitting and the seamstress was so rude and never spoke to me or my sister. When I was trying to tell her something I had to say it 3 times before she even looked at me. Needless to say it was not that magical moment when you can picture what your going to look like on your wedding day. We get to the cash to leave the deposit and guess what.... its DOUBLE what I was quoted for my alterations Even the lady ringing me out said I was charged way too much. I asked her to get the owner to call me as she was the one who quoted me in the first place. A few days later she calls and tells me they took off $50.00... big deal right. So she tells me because of the time crunch of when I neee my dress noone else will have the time to do it. So I told her to go ahead and do my dress and id pay the full price. .. I had no options or so she told me. 3 weeks go by.. and on the day im about to go for my 2nd fitting the owner called me and said the seamstress would not be in today but they also decided not to do my dress!!!! So now its been 3 weeks they have had my dress and nothing got done. Oh and to top it off I had to wait another week to pick it up. So I picked it up this past thursday and they refused to give me my deposit in cash , which is how I paid. So I took it in debit refund and walked out. I did find someone to do my dress but the point is a wedding dress is something you dont mess around with. They never once tried to help me and were rude and argumentative with me from the beginning. Please.... whatever you do... dont go there. Please spread the word. I dont want anyone to go through what I did I wouldn't recommend goin there to buy a dress! Terrible service!! I too was absolutely disgusted with the service there also. Please spare yourself the stress and find another bridal shop /seamstress. Did you find someone to do you dress last minute? If not I know someone that can help you I did I found an amazing lady in barrie who has been so sweet to me and has assured me she would make my dress perfect so sorry you had a bad experience! I did as well back in 2011! I was all set to find a dress there because I had found my bridesmaids dresses (x5) over $225 a piece. We left a deposit on two and the remaining girls would come in on there own to give their deposit. Well when 2 of the girls came in and left their deposits, they told me after they left that they were charged more than what we were quoted at what the first two paid. I was shocked, so I called and the lady dealing with all of it said "yes we made a mistake and undercharged you, those dresses are more expensive". I was annoyed to say the least, said no problem if you'll do a refund on those we'll look at others. She said they wouldn't do a refund and I still owe them on one dress and that we would have to pay the new price. At this point my blood was boiling, I told her this is not how you run a business and treat customers, they would have to honour their mistake and stick to the original proce quoted. She basically over the phone told e no that's not how it works. I ended up going into the store in person and giving her an ear full, which to her reply was don't yell the other customers don't want to hear your problems, to which I said of course they do they need to hear how horrible of an experience you made this, etc etc. she kept refusing to give our deposits back and I said I wasn't leaving until she did, told her to call the owner, after arguing with her she finally told the lady in store to refund us just so I would leave. HOW RUDE ARE THEY!!!! Worst store ever, nothing like a bridal shop should be. I can't even believe they're still open. that sounds all too familiar. .. she told me when I went in that there was no need to be annoyed and raise my voice. Absolutely horrible experience. Went in with my two bridesmaids for bridemaid dresses. I had an appointment for 12:00pm. After waiting at the front counter without being acknowledged by anyone, someone rushed by me and said come in and then left. So my BM went in to look at dresses while I continued to wait at the front counter as I assumed they should know we had an appointment and who I was. After an additional 5 minutes, I finally had to stop one of the employees as she rushed by me and told her my name and that I had an appointment. She proceeded to tell me she didn't have a dressing room and to just keep looking at dresses. We finally got a "dressing room" after carrying around about 15 dresses we wanted to try on. The dressing room had it's lights off and was no more than a closet beside the washroom. Not ONCE did anyone help us. The only time I talked to someone was when I asked them if we could order the dresses in any colour and size and the wedding was at the end of September, which they said yes. The dress the girls decided on was a size 6, which one could fit in and the other couldn't. We tracked down a lady that worked there (while I was waiting for her she was arguing with another bride at the front desk who was told she would get a 10% discount but was now being told she could not get it and it was a misunderstanding) to ask her if she had a dress like the one we liked in a larger size so my BM could get an idea of what it would look like. She looked at my BM and asked when the wedding was and then proceeded to rush around and say "oh there's no way we could order one in your size and colour for you by then so look at the navy blue ones (there was about 6) and you'll have to choose one of the rack" and then left us standing there. We then left absolutely disappointed and beside ourselves, went to another bridal store in Barrie, had an amazing experience, dresses are ordered and they will be here first week of August...in navy blue and any size we want. As we were buying these, two other parties that were at Best for Bride when we were there came in and also said their experience was bad. I would never ever recommend this place. I was asked to write this review by the store. I have to say from reading the other two reviews on here it makes the store sound wonderful. However that is not how we saw things. I went to the store 3 times shopping for my dress. The first time I have to say they were wonderful, the lady was wonderful and helpful. However I went back with others they didn't have the dress I wanted to try on, they told me they had sold it. However when I called two weeks later I found out it was actually in the back room the whole time. As I tried on dresses the ladies did not want to spend the time tieing up the dress properly. When I finally did get the try on the dress I bought, they were so busy they only had time to get it from the back room, I went into a room, not sure it was actually a change room, my friend helped me into the dress. Onces I bought my dress and all my brides maids dresses, we did three out of four of us did the fittings at the store. We for our first fitting we waited 20 minutes. Nothing was said to us. We did not enjoy our time there. Alterations were very expensive, my girls paid more then half the cost of their dresses. I didn't feel like my business was anything they wanted. I felt like a burden a lot of the time. When we picked up our dresses we were not thanks for shopping there, and I was not wished luck on my wedding. read more
