What did we do before the age of TV's? Our favorite TV wouldn't turn on after dinner, and we realized it was time for a new one. We visited another Best Buy location, but the TV we were interested in wasn't available, so we drove to this location. It took a while for a "blue shirt" employee to assist us, but he did call for someone to help us. It was our lucky day because we met Noel, a senior advisor. WOW! The TV that we were looking for was available, but it wasn't quite in our price range. I still couldn't justify the price tag. Noel asked us what we usually view on our TV - regular shows, movies, gaming, action movies, etc. He gave us a rundown on all the TVs and options. It turns out the TV we were interested in wasn't suited for our purposes. Noel was incredibly patient, and answered all our questions. He never made us feel like any question was too small. He showed us a TV that had everything we were looking for, and it was several hundred dollars less than the one we had our eyes on. Noel was called away, but another associate helped with payment, which was super-fast. While my husband went to get our car, the associate wheeled the TV to the front entrance. I totally forgot to get his name, but I appreciated that he waited until my husband drove up, and then placed the TV carefully inside our trunk! Now, this is how service should be! The TV was relatively easy to set up, just a lot of questions. The good thing is that Netflix is right on the screen, and there is a button exclusively for it on the remote control. The TV is a bit larger than our old one, so it will take some getting used to. I was very impressed with the service overall. It goes to show that not all larger locations have the best service. I give this Best Buy 3.5 stars out of 5. This location is the closest one to my home. It's odd that I visit this location perhaps once a year. I tend to either visit the one in Aurora or Scarborough by Adonis more often. I came here to get a DVD. After a decent, productive day working from home, I drove to Markville Shopping Centre and hit Best Buy. Merchandise is nicely organized. I was promptly greeted by an employee. I immediately found my DVD and was happy. I looked at some other items, such as fitness trackers and small appliances, before I made my purchase. The cashier was kind and cheerful. My Best Buy rewards card scanned on her first try. It never does that! I should visit this location more often. Visiting when it's not a weekend is a good idea. There is plenty of parking. I'm not surprised by the low reviews for this specific location of Best Buy. My last 3 recent shopping experiences have not been good. Last year i reserved a product online. I received a confirmation email that my item was ready for pick up. My hubby stopped by within the hour. He had to wait in a line up for almost 90 minutes only to be told that the item was sold out and then by another saying no, we never had it in stock (while he watched others paying and walking out with their same items). Last week i went to purchase 3 Switch games for my kids. Online it showed that they were in stock, so i was thrilled that i didn't have to go anywhere else. I arrived at the store by 11am and it was quiet and hardly any customers, so no wait to find help. I couldn't find any of the 3 games i was looking for on the shelves - they didn't even have the last 5-7 new releases even! I went to find a sales associate to help me. And i use the word help loosely, because she didn't lift a finger or even attempt to locate ANY of the 3 games even though her computer showed that all 3 titles were in stock (showing 7-8 of each). She didn't even ask her manager for assistance, or look in the stacks of games locked up. I asked if she could look in the warehouse/backroom. She started to walk away and then got called over by a co-worker for something else and then just stood in front of me without saying a word! I walked out and didn't bother to return. Staffs here are all really friendly and helpful. I did a few returns here for web orders products for various reasons and never have encounter any problems. How best buy manages to gather every annoying, ignorant, rude and brain-dead scrub in markham all working under one roof, I'll never know. Over the years, I've grown to absolutely HATE this best buy. The people that work here are so stupid and rude that I suspect they don't even actually work here- they were just lost customers with a blue shirt that was lost for so long in the store, they eventually became the workers. These workers.. I wouldn't even poke them with a stick from 10m away.. like, get as FAR away from me as possible. They're so uninterested in their job that they BARELY try to help you before returning back to their conversations with each other. Well, I'd be too if I was over 22 and worked here... The workers always find a way to bug the crap out of you when you don't need help, but when you do, they're NOWHERE to be found. Every time I actually need help finding something or getting an item out of display, I always end up asking the 'wrong section' but "don't worry. they'll help send the right guy soon enough" ...... I've waited in one section for over 20 minutes before .... and when I had questions, I've gotten answers like "I don't really know...." WHO TRAINED YOU? DO YOU ACTUALLY WORK HERE?!?!? I came in today with my best friend because she wanted to get a life proof case for her vacation.. after finding one that fit her huge tablet-sized phone (aka iphone 6+), we asked if we can pay at the phone place since the regular line was super long. He said no but he said we can pay at the other checkout towards the mall entrance.. we walked there and the guy there was like "No. Go to the checkout" ... This place is so disorganized and disoriented. Customer service is a negative, just because you can barely find someone that actually works there with proper training on how to treat customers. Maybe best buy should pay their employees comission like future shop did, then they'd be more motivated in their job. Agreed with other yelpers. This place has the most rude staff. I once went in to take a look at my macbook. The track pad wasn't working and it was becoming an annoyance to find my way around using just keystrokes. First off, took me what felt like eternity (but was actually just a ridiculous 20 minutes) to locate a freaking staff that would stay still to answer my questions. They just keep walking away from you even if you make eye contact, and they are more focused on talking to each other. Well then I was asked to sit and wait. No explanation. No care. No nothing. Not even a freaking smile. And then the guy comes over trillions of years later and goes "hey what's wrong with your laptop"....... Can't... Even... No. Expensive. Rude. I recently purchased the IRobot at the Vaughan - Highway 7 location. I was encouraged by the staff to purchase an extended warranty under the ostensible conviction that I would be provided exchanges if the item were to suffer any mechanical defects. When the issue arose in which the item was, in fact, defective, I brought it back to the original store location under the assumption that, as I was promised, I would be able to exchange the product for a working model. When speaking with the staff, they refused the exchange under the pretense that the government policy prevents them from exchanging the item for me due to the COVID pandemic. When I proved to them that this was a falsehood, they then modified their response and claimed that "Best-Buy policy" prevents them from exchanging the item for me. This is a false statement. The staff at this location were more than willing to sell the product to me, and strongly advise that I also purchase the extended warranty, during the COVID pandemic. They then suggested I buy another one, and they will take the defective one back after the COVID pandemic. the issue with this is that I do not see a point in shelling out more money to this company when an exchange can obviously be made instead. They are more than happy to take your money under the guise that they will exchange any defective products, but when the product is actually defective they outwardly proclaim that "governmental policy" prevents them from allowing exchanges at this time, and when corrected may switch over to the "best buy policy" instead. I have never had an issue like this with Best Buy before, and I am incredibly disheartened by their service. I have been a loyal customer of this company for years, and am now heavily considering taking my business elsewhere. read more

When Future Shop closed down, I was super depressed because that means the alternative is Best Buy. Ew. Best Buy's located at the end of Markville Mall and upstairs. They have several nice looking displays for their TVs and various other computer accessories so, in general, it looks pretty nice. They have a large amount of selection for everything from TVs, to video games, to computer parts. If you're there strictly to buy something, then you're set. Otherwise, beware. As several others have noted, the customer service absolutely blows. There are never employees roaming around the place and when there are, they don't make any effort to ask if you need help finding something. They mostly sit at their post (so at the doors or service tables) and they don't even do that well! Cashiers tend to be pretty empty and the service desk (for returns) is blank half the time I look over. I needed to find someone to help me get a price check on something once and that took ... ten minutes? This was a while ago, but I once needed to go there to fix the power button a desktop. It was taken in and the button was fixed, but they wiped the memory on the computer - something that was not asked of them at all. This is a major blunder and the original request was just so simple, that it shouldn't have been able to be screwed up. Best Buy has everything you could want at an electronic store - computers, laptops, printers, ink, games, accessories, phone stuff, etc etc. But if you can get what you want elsewhere, go there instead. Edit: They get points for getting in touch with me. Seems what happened was that the computer needed to be tested which could involve wiping the internal data. The fact that this wasn't conveyed to me shows a major lack of communication between the associate and me, or even from the associate to the tester. If this experience helps future customers, then I'll be glad, considering the bad reputation they get, at least here, and possibly rightfully so. Apart from this, their employees still need to care more for their customers. I remember they used to pride themselves how they weren't commission based - contrary to Future Shop at the time - but it seems to do more harm than good. read more

Purchased a laptop here which I reserved from the website and picked up in store, and was very pleased with how easy the item pick-up process was. Within 2 weeks after purchasing the laptop, Best Buy had a Back-to-School sale which took $150 off the price of the laptop I bought, so I came back to the store to take advantage of their Price Guarantee. The process was also very easy, as I only showed my receipt and was given a refund of $150 plus tax back to my card. I have been coming to this location for years, since it first opened. I remember the day that it was announced they would be opening a best buy @ Markville. It was such exciting news.. a new tech store, in the staple mall of Markham... Oh how the times have changed. With the rise and fall of its biggest competitor, Futureshop; Best Buy has become the top leader for most in the tech department for various goods such as tvs, stereos, house hold appliances etc etc. Unfortunately; this location in particular ABSOLUTELY SUCKS. I have spent probably thousands of dollars in this store over the years, buying tvs, cellphones and other miscellaneous goods, dvds, headphones, HDMI cables.. if it was techy; I bought it here. HOWEVER, that ends today. The GM here really needs an attitude adjustment. No wonder everyone here is useless and miserable, noses buried deep in their phone trying to get through their jail sentence of a shift. I had the dissatisfaction and pain of meeting him tonight, The Warden.. I mean GM; and I am literally speechless. Rest assured not a cent more from my pocket will be spent here after today's conversation. Id rather buy my appliances somewhere else; hell.. anywhere but here. Oy! What is up with electronic shops at Markville Mall? This is the second less than stellar review I'm writing about electronic shops at this mall. I'm writing this based on three visits. First visit: I came here to get a Chromecast on a weekday. The person at the door didn't say anything to me as I walked in as he was occupied with conversing a couple who seem like he was friends with. When I got to the TV section, I saw a few staff wandering around but none of them seem to have seen me or wanted to help. Oh look, there's a Chromecast display! Didn't need anyone's help anyway. When I went to the checkout queue, no one else was in the line and there was one cashier who was already cashing someone out. Another lady who was hoping to pay for her items just walked up about five feet behind that someone instead of walking through the queue line like I had just done. The cashier did not acknowledge this and assisted with the lady's items next. Second visit: Needed to exchange my Chromecast because it wasn't working. The person at the front greeted me this time, only because I was holding an item for return and he needed to put a sticker on it. I went to the Returns and Exchange counter and it was empty, except for the four staff members huddled around a computer screen, they saw me, but did not do anything. I stood in the queue for about 5 minutes, watching those staff members talking to each other, before someone finally came to assist me, which was none of those four staff members. The person who finally attended the counter didn't say much, "What was wrong with it?", "Ok", gave me a new one and said bye. Third visit: Had to exchange the Chromecast again. Frankly, I'm quite surprised no staff members were hanging around talking to each other, staff actually looked like they were doing work. I stood in the queue as there were a few groups of people in there and one counter was already busy. Another girl opened a counter and waved to assist me. This girl had about the same attitude as the previous returns guy. Honestly, I just wanted a functioning Chromecast and be on my way and never return. Chromecast finally works for me now, but this Best Buy doesn't. You're probably better off just buying it online. As much as it pains me to say this, I get better service at Walmart, and I don't even like Walmart that much. read more

But it appeared that everyone was busy or was occupied with something. Their off duty store manager was ready to leave work and noticed me. He turned back around to assist me and made sure someone was able to help me right away. I pre-ordered "GTA V" for PS3, and went to pick it up on Sept 17, 2013. Got the game from customer service counter and took it to checkout with $20 voucher from reward zone. The clerk at checkout told me "Oh, sorry the sale is final and you cannot use the voucher". Now that seemed a little weird. I argued with her politely, but later had to ask for a manager. Instead, another wonderful girl appeared and looking at the screen, told me "oh sorry, we cannot use that voucher for this sale". I asked if she was the manager, and she smiled, no but i can help. Great help I must say. So eventually I met the manager of the Best Buy store #937 with high hopes. She also looked at the screen. "No sir, we cannot use the voucher for this sale, however, you can pay the full amount here, and then go to customer service counter to get a refund of $20. This looked really silly. But as I had no other option. I paid the full price, and followed the manager for a refund / adjustment to my invoice. Now this clueless manager tried altering my invoice for about 15 minutes more. Eventually, the Manager cancelled the transaction (not knowing the customer display shows whats going on). Then sold the game to me again on a new transaction applying that voucher of $20. No shame for wasting my time, no worries, returned $20 and walked away. They could have done this at the checkout saving me all this trouble and about an hour of my time. Idiotic really. But who cares, they are running the store under the famous name "BEST BUY". I have read a few bad reviews about this store and couldn't resist sharing my own experience as well. read more

Customer service is definitely lacking at this location. It's difficult to find a sales associate to help you despite the fact that there are ten people at customer service. I feel that this store hasn't efficiently used their staff to man the cash register when needed. However, if you're here to peruse and test the merchandise, this is a great place to do so. read more

This review is specifically about the services of the Mobile department that oversees all the cellular phones and cellular services. I came to Best Buy to replace a micro SIM card with a nano SIM card. All 3 staffs at the Mobile section were attending customers when I arrived. I lined up at the end of a line. Half way through the line, I asked one of the staffs if they even offered the services to switch SIM card. If they didn't, I no longer needed to wait. She said yes. Moreover, she said "I would help you." I went back to line up, but she called me out to give me a pin to take the working SIM card out of my cellphone. I complied. At this point, I returned to the line to wait. She called me out again to obtain my micro SIM card. I complied. After about 3 minutes, she gave me a working nano SIM card. I mean I "jumped" the line, because she didn't want me to wait 30 minutes for 3 minutes of services. I appreciate her kindness and competent services. A great customers oriented attitude. read more

I've been to this Best Buy a few times over the past few years because it is the closest and most convenient. I ordered an Xbox one online about a month ago and went to pick it up. Not only were the staff nowhere to be found, when I did locate the staff they were too busy talking amongst themselves. It took me 15 minutes to be helped even though there were only a few customers in the store. Staff is untrained and rude and the managers are incompetent. Jay was super patient in helping us talk to Rogers reps on his end and also waiting for us to contact Rogers as well as there were several things to iron out with them over the phone before we could secure the deal. Bought some electronics like a google chromecast for my TV and a $300 HP laptop from this Best Buy in the past. The price are for all the products are quite reasonable, though some smaller items can be more expensive than Amazon.ca due to the cost of indexing all the small and less profitable items, but still worth it imo if you need it urgently. Overall most of the staff here are polite, friendly and helpful. Great selection of products too, would definitely come here as my favorite retail store along with Canada Computers. read more

Poor experience in the store from beginning to end. On a Thursday afternoon where the store was not even busy, it took me a while just to flag someone down to get help on finding a certain item. First, I was pointed to the wrong section. After searching unsuccessfully, I was redirected to a completely different section where I did find the item I was looking for. At the cashier, I was asked if I had the Rewards card to which I replied yes. However, the lady completed the transaction without scanning my Rewards card for points. I was directed to Customer Service to get the points and this was when things got rather frustrating. I only had the barcode on my phone and they couldn't easily scan my card. They tried looking me up using my phone number but was unsuccessful and I told them I don't buy from BestBuy that often. The salesperson then said, "There's no point to collect the points then since they expire in 6 months anyway." I said, "I still want to collect the points. Who knows maybe I'll make a bigger purchase in the next few months." He kept saying there is no point 'cause the points will become zero anyway if I didn't reach 400pts in 6 months. By that time, I was just too frustrated to deal with that guy and left. Later when I read about he Rewards Program on their website, it says the points only expire in 1 YEAR if no eligible purchase is made during that time. The salesperson was basically telling me the Rewards Program is useless so don't bother. Whether I end up redeeming my points or not is not the main issue. I was entitled to those points based on their Rewards Program. I felt the salesperson tried to brush me off 'cause he couldn't be bothered to spend a bit more time to correct the mistake made by the cashier. His attitude was condescending and just very poor customer service overall. If you plan to shop at this location, be prepared to go in with lots of patience! read more

Best Buy has a BIG problem. If you call directly be prepared to never get anyone to answer your call. I tried calling 10 times over two days to enquire about the availability of a sale item and the phone rang and rang until an automated operator stated "no one is available". I don't think Best Buy has ever heard of the term customer satisfaction. 'Service' is an in know entity for them. With their current business model no wonder they are struggling to survive against Internet competition! Yes. I gave up and ordered the item from B.C. - cheaper and no charge for delivery! read more
