This was the most basic basicest motel I've ever seen. It contained us for the night. There was a bed to sleep on that wasn't horrible. It was cleanish. We didn't die. Was it in good repair? No. Did the bathroom door close? No. Were there zero clipped toenails on the floor? No. Was there a curtain on the glass block window? No. Was there a modicum of water pressure in the shower? The shower is tiny! 6 year old couldn't stretch her arms out all the way, it's that small. The pillows are hard but the room didn't feel or look unclean. It's also an older building so you do hear the people walking above you and the 101 traffic, but for a single night it was a good spot. I would stop again for a single night. read more

Between the nasty mattresses and mold in the bathroom, this was a true definition of gross! I travel for a living and I love staying in little hometown inns and hotels and 9 out of 10 times they are the neatest little places! The only good thing was that there were no bedbugs. They had car air fresheners hanging everywhere in the room. The carpet clearly hadn't been vacuumed in a very long time. It was musty and damp in the room. Really unpleasant stay. I don't care if it's the cheapest stay in town (it's not) the standards here are so subpar I'm stunned the health dept allows them to operate under such gross conditions. read more

For the price yes. Service was friendly, walked in got the room and that was it. The walls are paper thin. You can literally hear the neighbors talking, and every step outside your door, everything to the T. The rooms were dirty, I found a Cheeto behind the bed along with so much dirt, hair crumbs of all sort and more. The front window was cracked. I was afraid to sleep in the bed. We didn't get under the blankets, slept on top in clothes and got up in the morning and left. They had a lot of amenities which was great, I didn't want to take off my socks because it didn't look clean on the floor (as you can see from the bathroom floor mat). There's the large random fan which didn't work. The seat cushions on the chair were dirty, not sure why they were there. The TV was the newest nicest thing in the room. I understand trying to provide everything but it was a little too much, I would recommend cleaning more then shoving all this stuff in little rooms. Stayed here a year ago for 2 nights over the 4th of July holiday. It was a little shabby, but not too bad. Fan in room, tiny shower and bathroom door was hard to close unless you lifted it up. But decent enough to book it for 2 nights this year. My father was the one paying for the room so he checked in a couple of hours before I arrived. He had arranged for me to pick up the key in the office. The woman behind the counter was very nice but a little apologetic about the room, which was a weird sign. The room was much much worse than what I had the year before. This room seemed to be in an annex of the hotel and it was much smaller than my previous room. The shower was so small, my boyfriend could barely fit into it, the bathroom door was missing that bolt in the middle of the lock so the door did not even close. The tv did not work. There was a strong smell of something like a cleaning agent, but in the way bus stops do. A table leg was busted and there were scoff marks on the walls and door. When my father arrived to say hello, he was shocked. They were going to give him a different room and said I would be getting room 8 (which is coincidently the room I stayed at last year). Something just have happened in two hours between that and when I got there because I was given room 4, which is much, much worse. I do not understand why they gave us a different room than what they told my father he would have. I feel like we got screwed over. When we went to dinner he called the office and complained and they said they would give us a different room for the second night. The next morning he got a call that ours was the only room available. They went back on their word after making a promise. As friendly as the lady was when we checked in, this is very bad customer service. Room 4, and I'm assuming rooms 1-3 and 5 which are on the same annexed part of the property, are NOT worth the same $ as the other hotel rooms. I'm ashamed that we were charged the same price for it. The rate is $50/night but quite frankly I don't think our room was up to code enough to even be rented for the night. Update: when we went back to grab our things and return the key (before check-out time), we discovered an opened and very old bag of west thins behind the dresser. When we checked under the bed to make sure nothing of ours had fallen under there, we discovered that it was FILTHY and had possibly never been vacuumed. Additionally, someone from the hotel came up to me to inquire about if we were staying the second night even though we had already told the front desk person earlier on the phone that we were not. He was very pushy about when we would be leaving and this was well before check-out time. We even showed him the messy room and my boyfriend actually cut his hand on the sharp tile and he guy didn't even apologize. This was overall a very gross and unpleasant experience. I know that a cheap motel is a cheap motel, but I don't think they should be renting this room in this condition. read more

We had no idea what we would fund in this quaint town as we've never traveled thru and reserved online. I called the hotel beforehand, as we needed a downstairs room. Unfortunately there was not one available that the owner stated that he would try to still accommodate us. When we arrived, we already knew it was going to be a much older Hotel so we don't expect much in the room at all. Mona, the owner, was superbly amazing. We talked for almost half an hour along with another guest who has stayed here many times prior. In fact the guest, was the one who gave up their extra room to take an upstairs so we could have a downstairs. We were so blessed. Mona let us know that the downstairs units were not yet remodeled it's basically the same interior from probably the 1980s. So if you are downstairs don't expect much. However there are microwave and fridge. The showers are built for maybe a 10 year old but again you have to think about the age of the building. The room was definitely clean. I gauge that because the exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't even have a smidge of dust. Look past the age of the building at the age of the rooms and the decor and you are left with amazing service a safe neighborhood clean Linens clean towels hot water electricity and a roof over your head for the night. Mona has mentioned that they are in the process of redoing all of the rooms but again that takes time. So please be patient with the staff they are absolutely amazing. And again, remember you get what you pay for. read more

To the point,,, this place had one room available for only one of the two nights we needed for Labor Day weekend. We arrived at 11pm Saturday (reserved just hours prior) where we found the guy at the desk (owner perhaps??) had saved a double parking space for our truck and trailer in a very packed parking area with his personal vehicle...A+ for service!!! One queen bed is $59.20 per night with a fridge and microwave, 2 bed with kitchenette is $86. NO PETS ALLOWED. Not only did we have a parking space but he accommodated us for BOTH nights that we needed :) The room was a single queen with a small restroom. The room is TINY and has an antique-y smell, also sounds like the neighbor may come through the wall, but we are thankful that we are so close to the dunes! There is free wifi, and it is very slow. The no-tell motel is absolutely nothing special but is 3 star for exceptional service so far :) read more

The front desk staff and owners were very polite and helpful, but the condition of the building is atrocious. Mold was in our room along the baseboards and made it difficult to sleep at night after breathing that in for a while. Don't go until they tear that building down and rebuild. read more

After reading the reviews I had formed an image of this place in my mind. I was pleasantly surprised that my image was wrong. For that reason the motel was much better than I thought. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was basic but better than a Motel 6. I've stayed at places that had much harder beds and dirtier rooms. This place was an excellent $50 room. It's no Best Western but Best Western is not $50 a night. It was quiet at night but in the morning you get terrible traffic noise. I think all the motels on the street have that problem. It's filthy, the rooms literally stink, the carpet and upholstery on chairs are dirty and stained. I did not dare use the shower. It was awful and I absolutely would not ever stay there again. Ok. We drove through three towns all with motels like this one. All of those were either full with no vacancy or were total jerks about not checking people in at 3am. Then we drove into this town and saw this little motel on the side of the road and pulled in hoping beyond hope to just get a few hours of sleep before having to get on the road again. Hallelujah! The office light was open and there was a doorbell to "ring for night service". When we rang it was OBVIOUS that she had just been sleeping and just been woken up but you would never tell by how she treated us. She was SO kind and accommodating! We were able to be fit in to a room with two queens. It had a mini fridge and microwave and tv and it was CLEAN. Obviously dated (like any motel) and thin walls and doors but we've been staying in Embassy Suites and Best Westerns and compared to them this was better when compared to the price. But when you calculate in the customer service it far exceeds those other "better" motels. When we come back for Dune Fest, this is the town to stay in. read more

I arrived at 9pm after a 10 hour drive. Needless to say, i was mostly interested in the bed. The decor is functional, AstroTurf on the catwalk for the upper rooms. This structure seems rickety. There is a lot of road noise. However, to be fair, all the hotels are on the same main drag, which makes this likely of all hotels and should not be the deciding factor. The person at the front desk was friendly. I was surprised that she agreed to rent to the person in front of me who had no id (isn't there a law). The lobby had a sign stating no guests are allowed in the room. This suggests that seedier folks use the hotel, at times. The parking lot is a bit small. The blinds kept out the light. The wi-fi was up there as some of the fastest I've had at a hotel. There is no A/C. The fan worked, and we were there when fall temps had already arrived. There is a scent to the room, which can be described as "unfamiliar cleaning product"--it goes away with acclimation, and is much better than the dreaded musty smell some hotels have. The bed in our room was hard. Surprisingly, the pillow was really hard too. These are personal preference type things, but wow--hard. I liked seeing the blue tub and sink--very 70s. The faucet in the sink was very high, which I think would be a convenience for folks. I showered second. My wife had an issue with the faucet height that I did not and do not understand. For me, the pressure was adequate and the hot water was instantaneous. It was petering out near the end of my 7 minute shower. I used the shampoo packet and small bar of soap--there were two of each. Serviceable. There is no danger of me taking the towels, as I don't need to sand anything. The hairdryer worked and was nice to see. It was not the "best" budget motel I've stayed at, and it was not an "inn". However, I was satisfied with the $65.28 for the 12 hours. Throw in some coffee, and this place would have my repeat business. read more

this has got to be by far the worst motel i've stayed in. mold everywhere, sink drain clogged, squeaky floors, everything is rusted, and all the chairs made dust fly everywhere if you hit them. i got room number 20 and it was awful. the bed was rock hard, i had springs stabbing me in the back all night, and there was a still damp shower towel hanging up in the bathroom behind the door.. not to mention the bathroom door didn't even shut properly, you could only close it half way. worst place ever. read more

The couple that run this place are very nice. Unfortunately every room has a very strong odor from cleaning liquid that's overwhelming. I had to leave and find another hotel. As soon as they clear the smell i would say it is ok. read more
