I didn't give it a five star because the coffee was sock juice and there were a few slightly tattered edges (visitor information scrapbooks were looking a bit worn and unappealing and we were scared to use the jacuzzi tub in our room because of the leaking caulk)

There were also a few minor issues. The owners were striving for a boutique feel but ended up using substandard materials (pleather couch, synthetic throw blankets, soft mattress, unfinished plywood). The lights above the bed lack a dimmer switch and were too bright. The light in the kitchenette was hooked up to the bathroom light. (Good luck if you want to use the bathroom at night without waking up your partner.) All in all, this was a shabby attempt at renovating an old motel.

Internet worked well for us and we enjoyed the quiet, sound proof room and close to nearby restaurants location. We did have to start and stop the water filling of the hot tub in our room in order to have a full tub of hot water but that was a minor inconvenience and I would stay here again. It's a small motel and I can highly recommend room #12 which is kinda of on its own. I'd recommended calling ahead and letting them know arrival time and ask for heat to be turned on, our room was cool when we got there and took while to heat up.

Its a lovely location with comfortable, clean rooms right on the river. We walked around the property in the evening to settle our nerves and slept well. In the morning, I let the innkeeper know the tow truck would come to get the car. I asked if I could purchase something for our breakfast since we only had snacks for dinner...She found some oranges and oatmeal. A half hour later, she and her husband arrived with hot plates loaded with pancakes, hash browns and sausage for us. What amazing generosity! It got us started on a positive note as we waited for a tow truck and wondered how we would get to our homes in Santa Cruz, CA. I highly recommend the inn and the people who operate it, too.

In short, our stay was so amazing and peaceful, and we will definitely be back. First things first, the owner was super friendly, responsive, and accommodating - proactively, a few days before arrival, and in person as well. He was knowledgeable of the area and activities and gave us some superb recombinations (where to go, etc). The check in was easy and straight forward, and our cabin was ready and clean upon arrival. More so than we would normally expect, so we were happy from the start. The cabin we checked into was at the end of the motel in a beautiful grassy and wooded area. One of 5 cabins available for rent and each one had a fire pit, outdoor covered seating, a bbq area, semi-private areas, etc. Inside the kitchen had basic dish ware (plates, bowls, cups, and mugs), a spacious fridge, stocked Keurig coffee maker, large full sized refrigerator, gas stove and microwave... the bathroom had soaps, shampoo, and conditioner available... the living room area came equipped with DirecTV and comfortable seating.... And the bedrooms were spacious and oh so comfortable. While the highway is close by, it's a fairly quiet area and super peaceful at night. I got a small glance into the motel rooms as I was walking our dogs around and the rooms looked just as clean and put together. Very inviting and welcoming. 10 out of 10... we will be back in the area again in a few months and will be renting a cabin again. I've never felt this relaxed staying somewhere... so looking forward to it!

There were several signs suggesting an appropriate gratuity. Stop at the thrift for a spoon so you can stir your coffee.
