Some 350 or more years ago, the Wishing Well stood between two flint cottages. The Well served as a means of fresh water for half a century, until the two cottages were integrated into the present building. By the 1750s smuggling was a major industry. Caves and tunnels ran from the coast in land to sellers in the village. The Well was used by smugglers to hide contraband. Smuggling had become so rife in this part of Kent. A great place to grab a holiday present but parking is a bit of a nightmare

It was obviously busy as many tables were occupied with families celebrating Mother's Day. The décor is lovely and homely. Everywhere was spotlessly clean including the bright white toilet with a great smelling hand wash! The reason for the visit was celebrating my friend's 30th birthday. The waitress even noticed her badge and congratulated her - nice touch! The cake was delicious! They had great gluten-free cakes which I tried. They have more seating available downstairs, so if it looks full, ask if they have any tables downstairs. Overall, I would highly recommend this tea room and will definitely be returning with my friends and family in the future.

All she wanted for her birthday was a nice afternoon tea. We left London and were basically driving sort of toward the coast just stopping wherever we found a tea shop. Unfortunately, every tea shop we hit was closed because of some bank holiday we were unaware of. Except one! We got to Glynde, parked outside this tea shop, went in, and found a large sign that said "cash only". OMG this wasn't our day. We had to go to the next town over to use the ATM which sucked, but we weren't in any hurry and we really liked the look and feel here. We came back, got seated, opened the menu, and right at the top it said afternoon tea available with reservation only. We were devastated. I saw the look in my wife's eye and there was no way I was not getting her this afternoon tea! I approached the woman working and explained our situation and before I could even fight for the experience she told me not to worry, she would get us taken care of. BLESS HER! We had a wonderful visit and would recommend the experience to everyone in the area. Fast forward to this year. I knew how much my wife loved that visit and decided to reach out and ask if they had any ideas of what I could get her for her birthday this year. Joanne reached back out with an amazing gift and shipped it to us and it amazingly arrived on her birthday! She also included a nice birthday card for her! Amazing people that went out of their way twice to make us happy. They will forever be apart of our story and hopefully we have the chance to return soon! Thank you!!!

It is like stepping back into the 1940's. The owners spend some real effort sourcing everything in the shop from the 1940's. This extra touch really elevated the whole experience. It felt very homey. Everything was freshly prepared. The clotted cream and jam was amazing. Loose leaf teas. Service was excellent. Definitely will return when I am back in town.

When I ordered it I had no idea it was a merely one slice of bread. It's not very clear on the menu - perhaps because most of their clientele are elderly people who are vulnerable and too shy to complain. Not good at all, worrying, in fact." I will probably continue going to Corby's because certain members of my family favour it at certain times of day because it is quiet. However, I have saved my 'review' and I will continue denouncing Corby's online until I see a change in their attitude towards customer in terms of portion size. I urge you to do the seem. Their practices amount to extortion, and it is a shame that Corby's have not made themselves available on the internet for me to make my views known directly. I have not told Corby's directly of my views because, to be frank, the staff are not especially friendly at the best of times, and I have to continue patronising the place with a stiff upper lip and a deceptive smile!
