But on a recent trip, due to COVID restrictions and early curfew, we ordered takeout for dinner pretty much every night--when not snacking on jamon and cheese and olives. Tapas don't really work for takeout, so we decided to try pizza, Indian food, Chinese, etc. Our first experience was takeout from Viva Napoli, a nearby pizza spot in the Cabanyal. We ended up ordering two different pizzas, and both were surprisingly delicious. Crust was cooked nicely and the toppings were high quality. Definitely a pleasant find and much better than the pizza I had in Jerez once...but we'll save that story for another day. So if you find yourself in the Cabanyal, after a long day on the beach and exploring the beautiful neighborhood, and you're craving pizza, Viva Napoli will get the job done. Big time.

Each of the four pizzas we had was excellent, service was good, and my wife even liked her salad and glass of the house red. My daughter brought up the age-old debate of who has the best pizza. She thought this place was the best (she had the carbonara), my wife still votes a place in Naples as being the best, and I lean toward a New York style place in Cannon Beach Oregon (of all places) as my favorite. To even have this place in the running is high praise indeed.

While you can't choose anything in particular, you can rule out toppings if you detest something or have a food allergy. I went here recently with a two friends, and ordered six pizettes to share. However, there didn't turn out to be quite as much variety as we expected - all the toppings were mostly variations on different cheeses, with some hame and salami thrown in. There was nothing particularly unique or exciting, which might have been a good thing ;-) All told, this is a fun place to eat with friends; I'm sure I'll be back!
