Belk seems to be the last store standing in Kinston's Vernon Park Mall and I can't imagine that it…read morewill be here too much longer. It was clear by the reduced inventory that they're already planning for it to shut down though there are no over signs of reduction sales. I was here because I stupidly forgot to grab a tie when I packed my bag for this weekend. I have an event to go to and a tie is required, Belk is the only apparent haute couture in Kinston so I stopped in, The men's department was hard to find because it's probably the smallest in the store. Eventually, I spotted a dozen or two ties to choose from and at $15, that's too rich for my blood. Only one of them was close to the color scheme I needed and I'm just not going to spend that much money for something I will wear once. I have a bunch at home. The store is tidy and clean, just not very well stocked. And certainly, no major discounts. Good luck, Belk. [Review 15481 overall, 985 of 2021, number 3024 in North Carolina.]

I love the Saddlebred line of clothing, the Coast to Coast, Ruby Red brand, Alfred Dunner and the New Directions (which is not carried any more), they have decent selection for Plus or Curvy size for women and a small section of big and tall.

Being that this Food Lion is one of convenience, I frequent this particular location (beats lunch…read morehour traffic in a city not known for traffic to get to a bigger retailer). They do well to have things in stock, and the management is some of the best that you could ask for, in my experience. The reason I've rated this particular one the way I did is due to several poor experiences I've had while visiting, and being that it was more than one I'd say that's fair game. For one, I'm almost never greeted with the familiar "Welcome to Food Lion". Big deal right? How about completing an entire transaction without being spoken to? Ok, stuff happens right? The pain point for me lies in the issues I've had using my MVP. I've had multiple experiences where my transaction was either rushed past me using my MVP or them using theirs. This severely hurts the brand, and makes the experience frustrating at times at the register. It's not all of the cashiers though, as a decent amount of them are super friendly. Customer service is a huge selling point for me. But if MVP is not a make or break point for you, this store will suit your needs just fine.

Maybe I'm just getting old and intolerant, but I…read moredo not understand why customers should have to wait until the cashier finishes their personal conversation first. Tonight is a perfect example (please check your tapes, as the video will support my statement). 3 cashiers, but only 2 lines open, 2 cashiers having a prolonged, silly conversation with the women in front of me, which included the 3rd cashier, kind of dancing from iregister to register talking to my cashier and the customer ahead of me. This went on and on (around 7pm) , with other cashiers stopping by while is continued. I've learned that complaining only gets you worse service and an attitude, so I simply beat it. But why? Do you teach cashier to annoy the masses at the expense of the "employee friends"? I assume that one of the many other cashier that wandered by (shift change?) could have intervened, rather than participating, but of course, the only person that minded was me. So is an 10 minutes, 3 times a week, a big deal? 30 minutes x52 weeks is 1,560 minutes or 26 hours..... a year.... you might not care, but there are much better things to do with those hours than to listen to two women repeat the words "filet mignon" over and over.
