I had always passed a prim and pretty little resort on the north edge of town, and took the occasion to stop in. Dan and Cheryl Howland were very friendly as they placed us in the most modern and natural finished, spotlessly clean, and well outfitted 2 bedroom cabin right at the water's edge. The canoes, kayaks and water bikes were there for the using, next to the pier and park-like setting with enormous old pine trees. For those looking for a little less rough hewn and less sandy resort with great acomodations, natural finished interiors on beautiful waters at the edge of a bustling beautiful town, then look no further. It's a great place to chill at a modest price, and it would be a great home base for further explorations.

We cooked we ate and we socialized...we also caught some fish!!! The heated pool was a short walk (steps from our cabin). The boat dock was a short walk as well. We drove cross country from California with the goal of finding some peace, quiet and hopefully some distance from all the Covid madness, fortunately and rather by happenstance, we came across Clear View! From the very beginning John, the owner, was extremely attentive and an absolute pleasure to work with. John and his wife Trudy went above and beyond to make my family and I feel welcome, comfortable and safe in their gem of a resort. In our time there, we stayed in two separate cabins. The level of attention and detail that goes into the cleaning and resetting of the cabins is above anything my wife and I have ever seen, no detail was missed. By the way, every single cabin has been very recently remodeled down to the studs. The end result being modern, clean and very comfortable. The kitchen cabins are fully stocked with many thoughtful details which even a gourmet cook would appreciate. In the living rooms, our cabins had large screen TV's and high speed WiFi. The internet speed allowed my wife and I as well as our kids to conduct multiple Zoom meetings simultaneously with no issues. The bedrooms were cozy, and the beds outstanding in comfort. Outside of the cabins we enjoyed the amenities available at the resort. They included stand up paddle boards, paddle boat, bikes, a HUGE rope swing and a small yet clean and super kid friendly sandy beach. I could go on and on about the resort, but will end by saying that we are already planning on spending more time at the resort next summer and look forward to seeing our super hosts John & Trudy once again.

The hotel layout is a bit awkward with half the rooms opening on to an inner courtyard. I asked to move to an outer facing one because it was too easy look into my courtyard room. I found the online booking process to be easy and I booked a room facing the courtyard. I thought the courtyard was going to be an outdoor space. When I arrived to check in, I found that the courtyard is indoors, where breakfast is served, tables where folks gather to eat and meet, and large comfortable chairs and sofas on which to relax. However, these rooms have their room windows facing this courtyard, very close to the bed inside. I didn't really feel comfortable with this arrangement. The gentleman at the counter graciously moved me to a room upstairs and on the outside away from all the noise and the bustle. It was perfect! I found the room to be clean although the whole hotel I believe is over 30 years old. Bed was comfortable and I was delighted to find Beekman 1802 soaps and lotions in the bathroom. (These products are made with goat milk, and are very gentle and non-irritating to the skin, which I love!). The breakfast was the typical hotel breakfast bar with the addition of some delicious cheesy hashbrowns. I loved sitting in the courtyard for my meal and then just relax in the comfy chairs later in the day. There is a pool which was filled with kids, but not annoying at all. One thing to note is that if you have a room facing the courtyard, it is bound to be noisy. There are balconies in the second floor rooms and there were quite a few groups of people getting together for different reasons. So this is a great option if you are traveling with a large group of people and want to easily hang out together. Each and every person at the front desk, I interacted with was friendly, outgoing, and accommodating. I think for me this is the best place to stay in Park Rapids, with perhaps two other options for hotels in this town. I will definitely come back and stay here without any hesitation.

In the office they have board games ( for rainy days) , ice cream , clothes, Bait and fishing advice if you want To know where to catch 'em . Because of the layout rooms are in close proximity and I think some little kid was trying the door next to the TV. It almost would have been worth it if they got in and saw us. Also check your door at the end that goes into the hall. Ours wasn't locked. The folks at the desk were great. If you can take a super soft mattress and average shower, do stay here.
