I was recently in inpatient care for a manic episode. I've been to 2 other hospitals in other parts…read moreof Illinois. I kept calling this place the "Ritz Carlton" or at the very least, a 4 star hotel. The hospital food is fantastic. After your first 24 hours, most people are able to go over to the cafeteria to select your own food. The lunch & dinner menu were the same, but they had an amazing variety (e.g. Chicago style hot dogs & beefs, a taco salad, etc.) They always had available: 2 soups, pizza & chicken tenders, snacks, drinks. They had plenty of snacks in the fridge and in the drawers in the unit as well. I gained like 5 lbs in 2 weeks, eating more/ better than I usually do. I met with my psychiatrist daily, and on the weekends, there was a fill in person to check in. There were 3 or 4 groups per day. They had plenty of coloring pages, books in their library, DVDs to watch, Soduku puzzles, etc to keep busy in between activities. I really felt the staff were all very nice. Their job probably isn't easy, especially when a new patient comes in and is agitated or aggressive. I only noticed them getting frustrated when someone would repeatedly disrespect the staff. We did only get to go outside once per day, and only if the weather was OK. That was also the only time we had access to music. I felt like they are a bit more conservative in terms of keeping you a set amount of time. I stayed inpatient for 2 weeks, but that's likely because they were adjusting my meds. I had the option of going to Linden Oaks or Good Samaritan. I'm very glad I chose Linden Oaks!

Okay so I was here for a week let me tell you this place needs to be shut down…read more So first when I got there. I got assessed. And then they make you stripped down to check you for cuts. Then they give you back your clothes. But the staff was just so rude like I get it I wouldn't want your job either but god damn. Then most of the time you have therapy in the morning and then You just sit in your room and do nothing, which makes thoughts a lot worse which caused me to more self harm in there, then all the psychiatrist and therapist are so mean like yeah sorry this is your job but at least you get paid so don't be rude. And I would say the therapies were OK. They were definitely not the best. I feel like the outpatient center in Naperville helped a lot more. Then when you're in your room, all you can do is read in color and journal. Which to me definitely doesn't help with thoughts or urges it makes them a lot worse. Then when I tried to talk to the girl right across from me They at me. Like even when you try to socialize. Then we're not even allowed outside. Winch to me is so f**cked up like it was nice outside. Then when you do have a mental breakdown, nobody cares. They only check on you every 15 minutes. They don't even say anything. So you just have to deal with it. Like THAT IS SO MESSED UP LIKE THIS IS YOUR JOB. Then another part I thought was messed up. Is when someone would freak out and a lot of nurses came into the unit and the police officer. They would just tell everyone go to their room or we where probably all ready there like we were for most of the time which made even more people freak out. Winch caused everyone to freak it out. And fhe staff didn't talk to us or even check on us. Then at night people would be crying or talking really loud and it was just really scary. And low-key pmo. Like we couldn't even close are doors they where wide open. Then if you didn't go to a group or you self harmed in there you couldn't leave unit you had to stay in your room WINCH IS SO MESSED UP LIKE FUCKING HELP US NOT KEEP US IN OUR ROOM. Then girls be warned if your period there the men act like kids they freak out about it like act like the adult you are. Next people there said the meanest shit and the staff would not care like that's how fights happen Just saying... and when my parents would visit me I would beg them to take me home and cry for hours. And finally, when I went home, they saw all self harm on my legs I did in there, my mom has a huge regret of ever sending me there I told my mom this SHE WAS PISSED. And for my people who struggle with addiction the staff don't care they bring zyn in and don't hide it they bring there vapes there like we weren't dumb and didn't know what it is so yeah, Then the worst thing I saw in there was this 12-year-old girl being strapped down to a chair and injected because she was freaking out like OMG NO. And because she ripped paint off the walls like my girly is a queen for that like if you're not gonna give us anything to do that's what you get. .But there's just a lot of other things that I could go on about, but I would just go somewhere else. I still have horrible flash backs from this place.

So how have I been getting my insurance to help cover the bills all these years? Did they just lose my info or something? I'll never know I suppose. I made an appointment with Erika, filled out tons of forms prior to my appointment, and spent 20 minutes finding a parking space in downtown Naperville. I arrived about 10 minutes early- but in the wrong office! If you go, be aware that there are two different offices on the same floor and not really any way to know which one you are supposed to be at! They gave me a PIN to get into the office, but it didn't seem to work on the correct door. After asking another therapist, I arrived to the correct office on time. And I waited, and waited. 15 minutes past my appointment time I was second guessing myself whether I was correct in my appointment time. I called the office number and received confirmation that I was in the right spot, but Erika was with another patient. She told me that she would let Erika know I was waiting. More time went by- and 20 minutes into my appointment I finally met Erika. Erika seemed annoyed when came out of her office to tell me that she was still with another patient and did not give me an ETA on how long it would take before seeing me. I reminded her that my time is important, and she subsequently told me "well, I am a clinician"... meaning I guess that it's okay for me to wait an indefinite amount of time and not respect the appointment that I made. She bristled at the fact that I told her my time should be respected- which I was surprised at, considering I would expect someone in this field would champion someone who is advocating for themselves and their time! I left without going to my session, not wanting to talk to someone who was annoyed just because I wanted a heads up on the lateness of my appointment. How unprofessional! The sad thing is that this could all have been avoided just with a little communication, which is somewhat ironic! I completely understand and respect that her prior appointment went late, particularly in this field. But 20 minutes into my appointment I shouldn't have to call the office to ask what is going on, and then have someone annoyed tell me to keep waiting. Someone could have called or texted or poked their head out and gave me a heads up. And when I tell them that I want my time to be respected too, I don't know why it's a bad thing! I think if people were more direct and communicated more often, we would avoid a lot of problems. Is it really that hard to be courteous to others? I'm just glad I called the office when I was waiting for my appointment because who knows how long it would have been otherwise. Also, parking is horrific around this location! Probably not the best location in Naperville to choose if you want to reduce anxiety! Another client was complaining about it when I was waiting also.

I will be leaving a more in depth review of my experience at this location soon. I have been a…read moreclient since 2018, and absolutely I do not recommend this therapy site, its current therapists or its leadership. Problems do not get resolved and instead leadership (Eric Ward) becomes condemning / defensive from what appears to be ego injury over feedback. I was stunned how he spoke down to me. Therapists tell you one thing and then tell someone else another thing, breaking trust. It's an unfortunate place. I was told I was not committed to their site despite being a long term client since 2018. There were errors on their end of going back and forth on whether or not I could do sessions over audio or not and when it got confusing; they just condemned and blamed me in a childlike manner. It was due to scheduling incompetence on behalf of FCS...the receptionists have given inconsistent information on whether or not I could do audio sessions. Because the receptionists went back and forth on what kind of session I could book, I was told I wasn't compliant. I also tried one therapist and didn't have a connection and was told I was not compliant over this - so be careful. You should be allowed to try a therapist without being shamed for deciding it's not a fit for you. However this got thrown back at me as "not being compliant with treatment" by a manager a few years younger than me who simply has a degree. However the lack of professionalism in these ways shocked me of the effectiveness of said degree. I am stunned to say, my session content also got thrown back in my face with him using it as a reason to belittle my concerns as I was told "I've read your medical records." I mean that is seriously scary to have someone gaslight your concerns away because they say they read your notes on session. And what in session would invalidate any of my valid concerns? Basically you do not want your personal data that's supposed to be HIPPA compliant thrown in your face by these people when you have feedback about staff giving inconsistent info to invalidate your concerns. How I was treated, it reminded me of a cult. Haven't they ever seen a Dr Ramani video on narcissism? For now I will leave you with the AI summary that popped up about reviews for this place; which I couldn't agree more: Reviews for Family Counseling Service are mixed, with some users praising the quality of certain therapists and others criticizing the overall experience, particularly citing concerns about inconsistent counselor quality and potential issues with management and staff treatment, according to information available on platforms like Yelp and Indeed. In receiving services with cps there was a lot inconsistency with services and the therapist was changing frequently. So naturally I thought that if we paid for private services this problem can be avoided. So I searched for a private practice . I was assured that the request for having my child consistently work with the same therapist would be fulfilled. Those assurances gave me peace of mind and with that we enroll our child. Now I'm being informed that my child will no longer be able to work with the same therapist due to policy change. I asked what the out of pocket expense would be to keep my son with the same therapist and was informed that "regrettably" that wasn't an option. Again I re-iterated to the facility prior to enrollment the importance it was for me to have 1 instructor work with my child. And now (a few short months later) my family and I can no longer be accommodated.
