Management needs to hire some class acts and put the deadbeats in the back, unloading trucks!…read more Back in July, I went in to get a garden chair for my new place. The box was huge, like bigger than me, big. Could I have managed it myself? Probably but I'm a small girl and didn't want to hurt myself trying to pick up a large box from ground level, even if it only had a lightweight bamboo chair inside. Besides our mama raised us that a gentleman should always step up and if one isnt around, it's ok to ask a mama's boy to step up and pretend they have some manners. So I approached and waited on a very tall, slim guy with longer haired to finish his text messaging. And I waited. And I waited. Though I am tempted, I'm not rude, even when he ignores me. And it is so obvious he was ignoring me. Five minutes, minimum, goes by before I finally go looking down isles for someone else that is willing to do their job, because hey, maybe I'm wrong and Mr. Avoidance is on his break. Right? Well he wasn't, he was just a j*rk. I walk up and down isles and finally find someone in sports/camping. I ask if they can call someone to gardens to help me with a chair and this nice guy immediately head to do so. I head back to the register by the garden center as I hear the message over the intercom. Once there, I observe the same guy, who is still texting! As I watch, I realize Mr. Slick isn't dumb, no sir, he is now sitting in the floor in front of the flower pots, appearing to work. I wait and watch. And I wait some more. He looks up and over then back down three times and I realize this is now a matter of, you are going to do your dang job, dude. Upon glance over and ignore number four, I have had enough with Mr. McLazy. So I walk over and politely interrupt his ongoing text messaging and play pretend at working. "Excuse me." Nothing. "Excuse me, Sir." Nothing. Now I feel awkward and don't know how to handle this. What if he's deaf? It could happen. I give it one more try, thinking I can always go back to sports and ask for him to come help. "Sir, I'm sorry to interrup, but-" He looks up--so not deaf--and glares at me with a long huff of aggravation. "Are you working the garden center or are you on break?" He motions around, phone still in hand, as if I'm an idiot and declares, "Working." Oh h**l no! "Well I apologize but I need help." And because he was such a pleasant person about me asking, I returned the favor. No I dont have a flatbed cart. Which was a lie, it was outside the big doors, but he would be the one to go get it. T*rd. He comes back and I stand there and ask him to load it on the cart, but I do guide it, so he doesn't miss his mark. When he goes to just walk away, I then insist that he ring me up right there because this poo*y-head is now blatantly showing his aggravation, I ask him to call the front desk because I need it taken outside too. Mr. Ain't-so-dumb-as-to-expose-me-to-someone-I-can-complain-to, reluctantly starts to wheel it out the double doors--ahead of me. I don't even bother to tell him that he's headed to the wrong truck. I just walk to mine until he reaches the truck four past me and say, "hey too far, texting a driving does that." He puts his phone in his pocket at this point, and I proceed in helping him load it into my truck bed, because that's just good manners. I thank him, which he ignores as he gets back on that phone And walks back inside. So avoid tall slim guy in gardens because he is there to text and collect a pay check.
