Every single medical staff member has been kind, compassionate, and informative. I see Dr. Grewie in particular and love how insightful and straightforward he is while still being kind. My recent experience at the Bernstein Allergy Group was HORRIBLE! As I sat in the waiting area i overheard two women named LAUREN and JASMINE gossiping about me and saying some incredibly rude and disrespectful things about me, they obviously had no idea that I was sitting there because once I let them know that I heard them they quickly tried to clean up the situation. For a patient to be treated that way and talked about while there is 100% unacceptable! Obviously these girls are too immature to work in that position and have no idea what professionalism is at all! I did not come there to be treated in that manner and will never go back there again as long as that is the way that the Bernstein Allergy Group allows its patients to be treated that way! read more

I've been experiencing extreme allergic reactions for the past four years. I finally went to Bernstein after multiple recommendations. After finally being seen, I tried to share pictures of my reactions over the years and how bad and different they all have been. The Dr barely gave me the time of day, and didn't look at any pictures. Idk if it was because at the time I was paying out of pocket or what but I felt completely unseen and unheard. After $250 spent, I was advised to take 24hr allergy meds morning and night. Nothing for me to go on for the future, no answers and no tests done. Today I'm face is completely swollen again, and I still have no answers. The allergy meds are obviously not working and I'm at a loss financially and mentally. How do people recommend this place? I have insurance now but will not being back. I'm currently looking for an allergist that will see me and actually listen to my concerns. read more

The Bernstein office on Winton Road cancelled my appointment for allergy testing due to inclement weather - that alone wasn't necessarily a problem. However, they failed spectacularly when I called to reschedule. At first they told me I would have to wait another 2 weeks to get in. Because I stopped taking antihistamines at their direction to prepare for testing, I had already been completely miserable for a week. And not just mildly uncomfortable - miserable. There was no way I was going to go through the misery of having no backup daily allergy meds to prepare for testing A SECOND TIME. The receptionist then told me to come back on Friday (3 days after the cancellation) and they would work me in. However, when I arrived early on the day of the appointment the receptionist did not have me on the schedule. She spent several minutes in the back office supposedly asking the doctor if he could fit me in. When she came back out she insisted they COULD NOT fit me in. I took a half day off work to do testing that I already waited over two weeks for and she had no solutions. Now I know mistakes happen. But by this time I had been sneezing, fighting a runny nose and breaking out in hives at random for more than two weeks. I said as much to the front desk staff and she was basically "sorry about your luck; I don't know what to tell you." She offered no apology until it was clear that I was upset. And that apology was insincere and patronizing. I asked for my health record on the spot because I will not go back. I have no interest in paying the Bernstein Group a dime for my care which, by the way, would have cost me $300 out of pocket. They waste my time and show no concern and they want $300? Not happening. They failed at patient care with me, and appear to have no remorse or concept of what I've been going through waiting for testing. When a patient cancels it must be done in a very specific timeframe or else they charge you for the visit. Meanwhile they have no problems cancelling my appointment, trying to put me off for another two weeks and then neglecting to put my appointment on the schedule. This cost me lost time, a half day of PTO and my well-being which was unnecessarily extended due to the office staff incompetence. Clearly patient care is performed at their convenience. No other industry would get away with treating a paying customer so poorly. Do yourself a favor and find a doctor that actually cares and that is willing to 'fess up when they f*^% up." Because Bernstein allergy group surely didn't demonstrate that to me. read more

Where do I begin...the receptionist was one of the nicest/friendliest I've ever encountered. She was the only highlight. Appt was at 10:30am. I wasn't brought back till 11am. After sitting in the room for 45 minutes, I found a nurse to ask how much longer it would be, she said she would check and if I had been waiting long, I answered yes. The nurses were nice. It always fascinates me when doctor's offices want to charge you if you cancel or you're late, but it's ok when they do it. When Dr. Jonathan Bernstein walked in, he said sorry for your wait, sat down at the computer, and asked me questions, with his back toward me, while he typed into the computer. As a NEW patient, I expected a conversation of my situation. I don't appreciate talking to a back. He explained what he thought was going on after his typing, but he never looked at the allergy diary I had kept or seemed interested in it. He was done in less than 10 minutes, it felt rushed. Bloodwork was ordered, and there is a lab onsite, but guess what, they were out to lunch. So I will have to come back as I've already missed 2+ hours of work. They want to see me back in 6 weeks...but wait, the earliest follow up appointment is 9 weeks away. This is my first allergy visit ever in my life...I expected a much better experience than what I received. read more

Didn't have a good experience. Dr. Bernstein did not listen to me and my concerns. Kept rewording my symptoms and when they started. Completely disregarded past test done by extremely reputable hospitals in Chicago. I left feeling completely unheard and that the desire was to find a drug for my complaint not what the actual problem was with my health. There's too many options in 2018 to walk away feeling unheard and disregarded by a doctor and many dollars spent. read more

Dr. David Bernstein and his staff are AWESOME!!! I initially visited not being able to even climb a flight of stairs without difficulty of breathing, elevators only. Dr. David listened and took the time to explain no only what was going on but exactly how the treatment would work. Dr. David exemplifies everything I'd hope from a doctor he is very knowledgeable on allergies and asthma as well as the research on the bleeding edge. He worked with me and took the time to understand and work with me and my concerns which definitely can't be easy :) His staff are rock stars especially when it comes to handling insurance companies that don't want to pay for prescriptions. They truly care about their patients quality of life and in no doubt did they raise mine! I highly recommend them to anyone suffering from allergies and asthma. read more

Visited in July for allergy and blood test. They were supposed to call me in two weeks. Still waiting. Doctor acted like he didn't have a clue what he was doing. Kept referring to the resident MD interning there who was not studying in the allergy field and was arrogant and didn't listen. Good thing I get blood test results on my phone. Do not go to these people they will rip you off. If you do and their billing dept calls you make sure to record your conversation. I scheduled an appt a few days before the appt their billing dept called me to tell me that there would be a fee up front. I was a little upset at first by this number $278.93. I spoke with them and asked if this was the amount or would there be other charges that I need to be aware of, they told me this covers the first visit when I inquired about testing it was included in the charges is what I was told. After arriving at the office and filling out paperwork and paying the $278.93 I wait for a few mins, then I am called to the back where they take my weight ask me a few questions then the dr comes in asks me a few more questions then orders a skin prick test. The assistant comes in with papers for me to sign stating it's another 178.00 to get this test done. Another sticker shock as I have just payed 278.93. After telling the girl I can't afford that the dr comes back in and after telling him the story above his response was we really don't deal with the billing dept that much. Seriously? I would watch yourself here. I went there after a friend of mine said she used to go there when she was a kid. I guess times have changed cause they were not in the least bit concerned with my situation. read more

We have had a tremendous experience with Dr. Greiwe and his staff. Our daughter has completed Oral Immunotherapy for peanuts, successfully challenged several foods that we previously avoided, and will soon start OIT for tree nuts. We drive almost two hours one way, and do it happily. It's not hyperbole to say that this treatment has changed our lives. We are so thankful!! read more

Dr. Griewe and his nurses have been amazing in treating my seven year old daughter's tree nut allergies through OIT. Dr. Griewe had her challenge tree nuts that we had previously been avoiding to determine which she needed OIT for. When she failed one of the challenges in his office, he was able to give her a shot of epinephrine without her evening knowing it by distracting her and doing it so quickly that she didn't even know he stuck her with a needle. He's always available via his cell phone to answer questions (he even answered my panicked call at 5am on a Sunday morning). My daughter has completed OIT for walnuts and will possibly need to do OIT again for hazelnut. I'm so grateful for all they have done for us and so thankful I found their practice. read more
