TEP deserves more than 5 stars for the amazing start to finish service we experienced on our 7 day…read moreadventure to Peru to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. From the time we signed up, to the time we boarded the plane to return home, TEP took care of every detail. We commented amongst ourselves that we felt like kids on vacation with our parents, as we didn't have to worry about any of the details - just show up and follow Neptali (our guide). From airport pickup in Cusco in luxury Mercedes vans where we were promptly served Coca tea to help with the altitude acclimation, to group dinners at amazing Peruvian restaurants, to historical tours and education on the history of the Inca - everything was covered and taken care of for us. And that was all before the amazing trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! Of course the trek itself was the highlight of the trip, and although it was extremely challenging for us, TEP's unbelievable attention to detail did not fail us on the trail. With nearly a 2:1 porter to trekker ration, our every need was met on the trail. We dined like kings every meal, and were consistently amazed with the quality (and nutritional appropriateness) of the food our chef and sous chef were able to put out with minimal kitchen conveniences. The thing I felt was most special about TEP's approach to this trip was the focus on gaining a cultural and historical appreciation for what we were experiencing. Every step along the way, we learned about the native people of Peru, the Inca civilization, the many ruins we came across, the vegetation we saw and how it was and is used, and the history of modern Peru. It was the trip of a lifetime, and have the help of The Explorer's Passage made it so much more enjoyable, and so much more memorable. The value of what they provide is amazing for the cost....rather, for the investment. I highly recommend them!

We chose the private family tour and booking was quick and easy and the customer service as great as I remembered. On to the tour itself: Luke met us at the Museum of Natural History on time and we got reacquainted. My son is autistic and can have some trouble warming to new people but absolutely no the case with Luke, he immediately put my son at ease and they were chatting like old friends as we made our way into Central Park. The tour covered loads of Central Park, including an exciting off track visit to a secret cave, the plaza hotel, grand central station, some fun subway rides, and concluded at the Brooklyn Bridge. But more than just seeing so many iconic sites, Luke had hundreds of facts and stories (which my son loved) about what we were seeing. It was truly like spending a wonderful day with an old friend. I cannot recommend highly enough Luke and Real New York Tours. Until next time!

The Street Teacher, Bill Goodhart, was exceptionally well-prepared for presenting current and historical facts about The Village, including significant events, unique architecture, famous residents and side bar items of interest. Bill's love of New York City and his unique "feel for place" made this tour a memorable experience for all of us. I highly recommend The Street Teacher for corporate functions and family outings alike. Bill's articulate, very well-educated style and wry sense of humor really humanized the tour and made everyone comfortable. He was very accessible to our questions and stimulated conversation among us. He ensured that he knew the "audience" in advance by prepping with me and even followed-up post-tour to ensure that we were satisfied, which we were. It actually exceeded our expectations. This is was a five-star experience which I plan on doing again with Bill in another area of NYC!

Today I was able to explore the Bronx County Historical Society for the very first time and it was…read morea very fun experience for sure. Now if you've read my lifestyle website, Piercing Ken dotcom (shameless plug), you know that I love exploring a wide assortment of museum exhibits and art openings along with the occasional special launches. Back in April, the Society debuted an exhibit called "Uptown Rumble", which was dedicated to the Metal, Rock, Punk and Hardcore bands that launched in the Bronx. This was a great idea when one considers how members of KISS, Twisted Sister, The Dictators and New York Dolls all called The Bronx their home. This interesting exhibit will run until 1/12/26 so if you're curious about checking it out you don't have a whole lot of time left to look into it. So the museum itself is quaint but very fascinating and is located in the Valentine-Varian House, near Montefiore Medical Center. For me it was a steady, and very long D train ride but then only a few short blocks walk up Bainbridge Avenue. I was told that they are open to the public on the weekends and since I was doing a media appointment I was able to secure some private time today without anyone else milling about. Having a limited window, I only examined the main floor rooms, two of which were for the "Uptown Rumble" presentation and the other for a small George Romero exhibit. I would discover that the rest of that one is running concurrently at the Poe House and since time was not on my side I was unable to visit that location for the rest. There is a historical piece on one of the opposing hall walls and I observed some sports figures on the other side but since I was on a clock, I had to focus on my needs before letting them get back to work. Everything here is dedicated to and focused on being from The Bronx which is nice to find existing even though I'm from faraway Brooklyn. Though I didn't detect an open Wi-Fi, there was a restroom downstairs that was able to be used by the public. As I was pressed for time I didn't get to look around any further downstairs or investigate the upstairs section. Part of me feels that upstairs would be office space for the folks that maintain the museum and curate the exhibits or for talks but this is just a guess. Though I cannot ascertain when my return will be I would like to check the place out once again provided the exhibit matches a need by one of my websites. That's all I've got on this one and as mentioned earlier, if the "Uptown Rumble" exhibit interests you, there are only a few short weeks remaining to examine it.
