The office itself is very clean, smells great, and all of the equipment and furniture look modern. There is plenty of parking, and I didn't have to wait long at all, which was a huge plus. I absolutely loved Anthony, the dentist. He was incredibly attentive, informative, and had a great sense of humor that made the visit comfortable and stress-free. I also had two extractions done, and he made the entire process go very smoothly with bare minimum pain. The doctor was on top of everything from start to finish and provided all the necessities and clear post-op instructions, which made me feel well taken care of. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone looking for a positive dental experience.

(old root canals gone bad) I was scared, I had no idea what to expect, especially 2 back teeth on the bottom. Well, I have to tell you it went so smoothly, he was done in literally 10 minutes. I just couldn't believe it. When he told me he was done, I said to him.. " shut up-no way". I felt a little pressure but it wasn't pain. I just had to let you guys know that if you're in the West Caldwell area- don't even think twice, make an appointment. His staff is absolutely wonderful. They are so kind. Karlene is a jack of all trades and Karolina the girl who clean my teeth was so sweet- she was funny and she did a great job. All the ladies in the office are so helpful and friendly. January 8, 2025 ***I was looking for a new dentist - after a conversation with my dear friend, Roxie, she said- she loves her dentist. So I made an appointment and I went. I was very impressed. His office is spotless. The parking is easy and his office equipment is State Of Art. And he's one of the few dentist offices today that still has a sink and fills up a little paper cup for you. My last two dentist didn't have that. Maybe it's psychological, but I need to be able to spit after he works in my mouth. I don't like that little plastic suction gadget that sucks your whole mouth. I would definitely recommend him. And, I must say his prices are much better than the dentist I had in Florham Park and his staff was nothing like Dr. Castellano's staff- they smiled and greet you the minute you walk in.

6 11 19 This guy should be barred from practicing…read moredentistry. About 8 months ago I made an appointment to have a tooth refilled, he says filling is good but we can do a root canal. I had a cavity though so he fills it and 7 months later that tooth is still really sensitive. Had another tooth on the other side of my mouth he said needed a filling or a root canal but he wants to do a filling to avoid the root canal but if it doesnt work he will do the root canal. Fills it, tells me it was a mm close to the nerve which is not good , leaves all sorts of jagged edges and sends me home. This was 4 months ago. The whole row of teeth now are completely in pain, about 4-5 teeth, go back to him and he says gosh I dont know what going on here. Had to diagnose myself and had him pull my back tooth. He did not stitch it right so there is a big hole and part of the gum is now loose and the pain in the now 3-4 teeth are even more painful. So I go back and he says gee I dont know whats going on, I dont want to do the root canal because I just dont know and says he will send me to an endodontist to confirm and I say ok so if he says its a problem you will do the root canal? No I cant do the root canal its too hard for me to do. Then I say but you said you would do the root canal if the filling did not take? No I cant do it blah blah blah, and then I remind him of the original tooth he said he would do a root canal on and he says no I cant do that either!!! So I try to calmly explain to him that this is not right, that he is basically not taking responsibility for the work and trying to pawn me off on another dentist, who by the way would be twice as much money and I have no insurance. The guy starts having an anxiety attack and flailing his arms around getting all upset and touching me and grabbing me and telling me ohhh you are stressing me out man and I am like you are a dentist, all I am doing is simply explaining to you the inconsistencies in what you tell me one visit to the next and that you need to take responsibility for your work. He starts freaking out flailing more and touching and grabbing saying thats it we are done I cant treat you no more, you are just stressing me out too much and Im like dont you think its more than a little unethical to have created so many problems in my mouth and not only not take responsibility for it but refuse to fix the work you screwed up or did not finish properly? No man you are just stressing me out, good thing I did not raise my voice or start yelling, his head would have exploded. Just a complete unstable guy who created so much pain in my mouth. I had one minor problem in my mouth and now I have major problems directly related to his poor work and unethical behavior. Just a review, I know but I posted this to warn people about this guy. When you go to a doctor or a dentist you are putting your care in their hands and you have to be able to trust them completely, trust the work they do and trust the content of their professional character and this guy deserves to have his degree and license revoked. He is not worth the high probability of problems he will create, he is a horrible dentist and an even worse human being. He needs therapy or medication for the anxiety and he needs to retire and stop butchering peoples mouths. Hopefully I can find a good lawyer to stop a bad dentist. 7 2 19 Follow up to previous review. Went to another dentist and the 2 teeth I was complaining about for which Dr. Calantone said he had no idea what the problem was? Both of the teeth have cavities. How pathetic are you when you miss not one but two cavities. I went to this guy with one problem and 8 months later I now have problems with 5 additional teeth and all are due to this really bad dentist.

The dentist is extremely unpleasant and rude…read more My family avoids fluoride due to its confirmed toxicity and harmful effects on a developing child's nervous system. While studies have clearly demonstrated its risks, none have definitively proven its effectiveness in preventing cavities. Because of this, we do not use fluoride and have opted out of fluoride treatments at the end of dental cleanings. This preference is noted in the system. However, the doctor was clearly displeased with our decision. Ever since I marked this in the system, he has treated my family--and especially me--with utter contempt. When I left his office, he shot me a cold, piercing glare filled with disdain. That moment solidified my decision: I promised myself and my children that we would never go back. Unfortunately, my child developed a cavity, and in an effort to address it as quickly as possible, I decided--against my better judgment--to return to this dentist rather than waste time searching for a new provider. That was a mistake. The appointment turned out to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had. The doctor was openly condescending and unkind. He responded to my questions with the shortest possible answers--one or two words at most. After administering anesthesia to my child, instead of engaging in the usual small talk to ease the patient's anxiety (such as asking about school, pets, or summer plans), he simply sat there in complete silence, his head down, waiting for the anesthesia to take effect. His front-desk staff adopted the same hostile attitude. When I casually commented on how much I liked their potted cacti in tooth-shaped planters, the receptionist looked at me, said nothing, and just smirked. Even my child noticed the uncomfortable atmosphere. When I told her that we would never return, she replied, "Mom, but you said the same thing last time." This time, I mean it. I do not recommend this dental office. The doctor is more focused on maximizing profits than on patient care. His goal is to push as many procedures as possible to extract the maximum amount of money from your insurance. When I asked about a dark spot on my child's tooth, he dismissed it as a mere stain. When I suggested that the enamel might already be compromised, allowing debris and plaque to accumulate, he disagreed but then added, "If it bothers you, I can clean it." I declined because I understood that "cleaning" the spot would require disrupting the enamel. Instead of clarifying whether I was correct, he simply repeated his offer: "If it bothers you, I can remove it." Of course, this would have been billed as an additional procedure to my insurance. This dentist is rude, dismissive, and solely focused on profit. I will not make the mistake of returning again.

Over the last year or so the service declined drastically so we decided to try another dentist. Our new dentist found 8+ cavities that have existed for several years and all 5 (yes, 5) of my daughter's wisdom teeth need to be urgently removed - yet another malady that Dr Spatzner failed to observe and communicate. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying far away from this practice that I would categorize as borderline negligent.
