My first experience in 2013 had Dr Halpern pulling a molar. I was stunned at how quickly he was able to extract such a big tooth. His secret was cutting the tooth back from the gum. Very little pulling was needed and there was no discomfort at all! He then cleaned the wound and packed the space with bone material to promote regrowth. Just yesterday, I needed another molar pulled and trusted Northwest Periodontics again. I was not disappointed. Dr Halpern was not available, but his exceptionally capable partner, Dr ElMaraghi performed magnificently. She was as professional, quick and painless, and had an excellent bedside manner. In between these two extractions at Northwest Perio, I needed two other teeth pulled and used my local dentist each time, for expedience. I regretted that decision both times. My eye tooth was pulled by my local dentist in Woodstock. He admitted he does not like pulling teeth, but this was an emergency. My second molar was pulled by my dentist in Cartersville shortly after we moved here. That was a disaster. There was considerable pain and discomfort, one more than the other, but neither "repaired" the damage from the extraction. There is a noticeable difference between the two areas on which Northwest worked and the two areas on which the other dentists worked. Just the other day, I needed another molar removed and used my cleaning appointment to get it done. Not only did I get my teeth cleaned, but then Dr ElMaraghi pulled the tooth! It was all quick and painless and very efficient. I will recommend these folks to anyone who needs periodontal work done. This last time, I had to drive from Cartersville, and it was worth it.

I had a lanap surgery and kept telling her that there was something in the gums of my two front teeth and she kept insisting I was wrong . Sure enough there was a piece of bone that she had hit during the surgery which chipped off and got stuck in the front of my gums. She prescribed rounds of antibiotics and a root canal that I probably did not need. Then she did a sinus flap surgery on me and I am having complications from that and have had to go to an ENT . Of course she will probably say it was just my anatomy but from my research if the surgeon is not super careful there can be a lot of inflammation which is what I am experiencing. I gave her the benefit of the doubt with the first surgery but after having problems with the second I can't help but think it is the surgeon. I understand that things happen but I think what upset me the most is the way she handled it both times. She was extremely defensive , to the point of telling me that this complication I'm having now had nothing to do with the surgery and the ENT confirmed that it was as a result of the surgery.

They don't listen to you at all and get very irate if you question them at all or even express concerns. Everytime you go in, even for a basic cleaning you will come out with hundreds of dollars of urgent work that needs to be done( peridontal, replace crowns) and those items have to be completed right away and before the work you went in for gets done. I have had this experience many times in two years plus. I was severley hurt during a tooth extraction and they would not even talk to me about exactly what happened they acted like it was nothing. Everytime I go in even for a cleaning my mouth is serioulsy sore for days. Good tech don't seem to last long. This last time and I do mean the LAST time the tech tried to jam a huge piece of equipment in my mouth. He got it in as he was determined to do, usually they go get a different piece or make another plan. Not this guy! I always get complements on the condition of my teeth and hygene. In three months time they went from Great!! to dire straights. Even though hygene had been off the last week I find that impossible to believe. I barely felt his exam compared to others it was nothing. Yet it revealed disaster! The Dr. came in to confirm what he was saying and I was shown x-rays that showed my brushing had been off for sure. When I questioned it they got angry. If I didn't get the appt tomorrow morning I wouldn't get one for 7 weeks. They acted as it the money was nothing. Probably because I had been going along with it for two years much to the dismay of my kids who said they thought that all of the procedures that I had had in the past two years was clearly excessive and have wanted me to change. They just name a price and I paid it in full at the time. And it has been never ending. I made excuses and a lot of it was not their fault and I am not called a professional patient by my kids for nothing. They took my insurance so I dealt with it. The last time The bills went on for months and months. $42 here 54 there and 68 somewhere else. For what I don't know. after a brief break because my insurance ran out I went back and it immediately started again. I left that day without the cleaning I went for, they wouldn't do it.
