I love Bernardaud because it has given me my most precious souvenirs of Paris: exquisitely delicate lithophane tea lights (lithophanies senteurs lumineuses?? Sorry, I don't know how to say it in French) made from the finest porcelaine de Limoges. They make wonderful gifts and are beautiful works of art. If you're not sure I'm talking about, it looks like a saucer with a tea light, or candle, in the middle and atop that rests a dome with a scene etched into it that can only be seen with the candle is lit.

These are the best lithophanes I have ever seen because the porcelain is so thin and translucent and the etching so finely detailed that when you light the candle in the middle, the three-dimensional image is astounding. The depth and detail is magnificent. My favorite one is called Paris Sur Seine. Whenever I miss Paris, I light Bernardaud's special scented bougie and reminisce about the days when I used to stroll along the Seine. read more
