I will never forget the spot landing contest he organized and all of us student pilots competing trying to land as close to the 5 pound bag of flour as possible. We had a blast! I went on to pass my FAA written exam and fly a 500 mile 3 leg solo cross country. This experience gave me so much confidence and I owe it all to Mr Leroy Walters.

He was a SS teacher but also taught about 10 students how to fly/obtain our private pilot's license. He was the best teacher/influence I've ever had in my life. Unfortunately, in 10th grade, you don't really realize it at the time. However, the man changed my life. I became a teacher because of him. He helped develop a passion in me about flight and aerobatic flight. He was such a decent, caring man even when he made me take the Cessna 152 to 5,000 feet to practice stall/spin recovery. I was never more scared in my life. "Aluminum tastes like fear (R.E.M.)." Thank you, Mr. Leroy Walters. You changed my life and I wanted you to know.

Initially our experience with Assumption Early Learning was positive until our child was almost…read moreone. At that time, the administration started suggesting our child was behind developmentally because they weren't walking yet. We asked our Doctor and they said not to worry about it as kids develop at their own pace. The head of the daycare continued to push us to seek help even though we weren't worried about it, even to the point of having a social worker say they don't qualify for services. Shelley continued to push despite not being a doctor or having a degree in social work. Eventually we figured out that they were pushing this so hard not for the welfare of our child, but because they had promised someone the spot in my child's classroom and wouldn't move them to the next class because they couldn't walk. We were happy to leave the preschool after dealing with their attempts to bully and shame us, however, it took my child several years to trust teachers again after being at Assumption.
