What an amazing orchestra! Probably the best orchestra concert I have ever seen. Also the tickets are reasonably priced even in nicer seats that would cost way more in the US. highly recommend seeing them in Berlin!

Almost as an afterthought, we purchased tickets to a performance. It was the unexpected highlight of our visit to Berlin. After arriving almost too late on a hot June evening, we were amazed not only by the principal special guest, but also by the decorum of the audience. Between movements, I listened to silence: not a whisper, not a cough, not a cough-drop wrapper crinkling. Complete respect and appreciation for the opportunity to hear the music. Thanks, Berliner Philharmonie, for a sublimely joyful evening.

This was glorious. Do yourself a favor and go see a concert at the Berlin Philharmonic. This orchestra is breathtaking. I went twice, once to a proper concert on a Sunday evening and then again to a FREE (yes!!! Free!!!) Tuesday afternoon lunch concert. They have them every Tuesday. The Sunday concert was the Mozart A Major Violin Concerto, Saint-Saens Rondo Capriccioso, and Ravel's L'Enfant et les sortilèges. Both concerts were exquisite. These are some of the best musicians in the world. If you are a classical music lover it is a MUST. If you aren't into classical, you will still love it, go for the afternoon concert where you can have a drink while listening :) The Tuesday concert is more casual, usually a chamber music 1 hour concert in the lobby, you can sit on the floor and grab a beer, glass of wine and some lunch. You will leave feeling inspired!

I know nothing about classical music, or any sort of cultured music. But my Stephen wanted to get tickets for the Philharmonic, one of the most famous places in the world. We were very fortunate to get tickets online the day they went on sale, so we had to pick up our tickets at the box office. We arrived at 7:00 PM for the 8:00 PM show. Picking up the tickets at will call was very easy with proper ID. After entering the lobby, we went to check in our coats, and picked up a program for €3,00. There were not too many people there so we went to the concession stand for a bite to eat. This place had many concession stands, all a little different. We were told by one of the staff members to go to the very back where they had sandwiches and small bites to eat as well as beverages. We got three small sandwiches for €7,50 and two diet sodas. We walked around the building admiring the artwork on the walls, and decided to use the toilet. There is an attendant in the WC, so be sure to bring loose change to tip the attendant. It seems they open the doors about half hour before showtime. After the show, and after you pick up your coats, they are many buses waiting as well as taxis. Within half hour after showtime, the staff will kick you out telling you they are closed. I can now take this off my bucket list that I have been to the Berlin Philharmonic,

    At night.

Berliner Philharmonie is a place which I pass by quite often, but never really got a chance or a plan to pay a visit. It was pure luck, my friends because of something couldn't make it, so they gave the tickets for my partner and me. Therefore we could finally check out this place. It was a mazing, much better than I expected. I'm really glad that could visit this place, it was privilege experience. Here are few facts that you might like to know. Berliner Philharmonie founded at 1882, formerly Berliner Philharmonisches Orchester (BPO) it is an orchestra based in Berlin. As I heard, it is also on a list of "top ten European Orchestras", after the Vienna Philharmonic and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, sounds pretty badass, right! Although it has been built up in the very early time, I found the design of the whole place actually very modern. When I first walked in to the music hall, it was totally stunning, very grand but modern. It was definitely the place to enjoy music. Speak about music, usually you could find many different kind of the shows here, of course perform by Orchester. I was there for Jazz. It was simply brilliant. At the show, it simply became one of my favourite place. I will like to visit again, for sure. The price of the ticket isn't really cheap, but it's totally worth it. Sometime they also got promotions online, just look it up. You might find something interesting and cool.

    Love it!!!!!!

The philaharmonic hall is part of Europe's cultural heritage. Magnificent architecture, a stunning history and one of the worlds finest orchestras conducted by sir Simon Rattle. It's such a privilege to have the best musicians in the world playing here. Get your tickets online well in advance - it's ALWAYS worth a visit.

    End of performance 6/07/15.

Saw Madredeus perform here back in 2008. It's the most cozy, unique, and accoustically perfect concert hall I've ever been to.

The peeps were friendly in their own way. Took a little bit of time but eventually they seemed to warm to me. One huge biker dude took a shine to me and kept joking with me all night in broken English. At the end of his night (which was quite early) he swooped in and gave me a kiss on the cheek and wished me a lovely vacation. The bathrooms were cleaner and nicer than the cobalt/funkys/astoria from my dives back home in Vancouver - seriously Vancouver, get your shit together - LITERALLY. Drink prices seemed super reasonable to me. But really anywhere in Europe they seem reasonable to me. Bartender didn't really know how to make a whiskey sour and what I ended up drinking wasn't that fantastic, but I think that's my fault, what the hell was I doing ordering a whiskey sour at this place? Beer seems to be the best bet. The place filled up quick and seemed very popular with the locals and tourists alike.

The door to the concert areal opens at about ten, but may vary. They have plenty of hallways, corners and steps to stride along after which you come into the first room, which is the bar kind of loungy area. All equipped with rather worn down sofas, quite trashy (Berlin style). Two small alleyways spit you onto the concert floor with the stage, where it usually gets loaded full and crammed. If you want it a bit quieter, make your way up the metal spiralstairs which lead to the bar and toilets. From here you also have a great view on the dancing crowd and on the stage. Grab a Club Mate vodka ! and let your eyes indulge in the artwork that has been scattered all over the place..paintings, statues..and the dj, which stands on a small platform only and uses digital equipment in his small cell to make the whole sound possible. The sound really can be anything, they have livebands ranging from jazz over hardcore to art-noise. Though they host ska bands mainly.Ocassionally they have a special Rattenbar called gayparty too, but anyone is welcome. Several times a year there is also a theatrefestival with a variety of artists showing what they can. Youll find yourself very likely in the position of seeing a band never thought could of existed before and then really liking them. Its alwayssmth special going on. Afterwards there are always Djs till real early in the mroning with all kinds of music styles(Drum n Bass, Jungle, Raggea,20s, Electro) Entrance fee is mostly 4EUR which is very cheap- the drinks are too. The people are very mixed, mostly 20to 40, but everything is possible. You know this feeling ofaaah why have guys like those have to hang out here I never had it when I was there, everyone is relaxed and there to have fun. One negative thing at times can be the toilets..but use the ones in the entrancebar and you should be fine. Oh and you can smoke..whatever In summer they have a campfire in the backyard.

Ideal space for a crowd of approximately 1500 people or a bit more and everything a good gig needs: sound, vision, technics. The best way to describe the venue is like British venues, but better. Everything is so much more efficient, there's an excellent amount of space and the food options blow the Barras out the water. Crepes and cocktails? I'm sold! It wasn't ridiculously overpriced like some venues can be, either. There wasn't a great amount of seating available for an unreserved gig, which isn't the best when you've been travelling on your feet all day, however it was really well ventilated and the amount of space meant you didn't feel suffocated despite it being sold out. The tiered standing pretty much guarantees a decent view, which is really useful. If all venues in Germany are like Huxleys, I think I'll be visiting more in the future!
