There are a number of things that bother me about this shop. And if you are one of the incredibly rare responsible pet owners, you might turn a blind eye to this shop too. There are a number of pros & cons so we'll start with the less technical stuff first. I'll admit, the entire location was very clean & well organized. The cages were clearly labeled with posters featuring each dog breed, a tiny indoor fenced in area for visitors to interact with the puppies & a small selection of pet supplies. However, if you're one of the stereotypical morons who randomly pass through a pet shop & buy the first cute puppy you see without doing any research; you'll love this questionable practice. Since I didn't see any staff members available in this area of the building (it is directly connected to a leather goods shop) unsupervised adults & children were just helping themselves. This alone was a huge red flag as I can't stress enough how truly harmful it is to any pet to be picked up by one hand around the waste , letting their lower body just dangle. But that's another discussion for another time. Anyways, there absolutely should've have been a hands on staff member to assist customers. Of course, very few people can say "no" to an adorable puppy but if the owners of this business can't answer a number of simple questions then you shouldn't do business with them! For starters, they only sell purebreds (which ads to the ever growing over population issue & not the solution) , the posters about the dogs didn't tell you the pros & cons of owning that breed or anything about the dogs that were available (such as weather or not they're vaccinated, spayed & neutered, if that breed is good with other dogs or children, etc). I then attempted to contact the pet shop through their website to ask a number of very important questions (that their site fails to address) without any successful response. If you are dead set on purchasing a pure bred canine; these are the questions you should be asking the breeder. 1) How many times a year do you breed each bitch? 2) How many liters do you allow a bitch to have before you retire her? 3) What do you do with your retired dogs? ***Check to see if the contract you sign with them holds the breeder (as it should) legally/financially responsible if there are any major genetic disorders that might develop as your puppy ages that could have been avoided with proper breeding. There was also no outside area for the puppies to play in & the site itself is very vague. So my main reason for giving this place a 2 star review is due to the lack of response in regards to my questions. This should always be a wake up call to you as a possible pet owner. If any shop or breeder can't answer these questions or their answers aren't what they should be (for example: a bitch should NEVER EVER be bred more than 2 times a year! Some will argue that it depends on the dogs cycle but if you really do your homework... having 2 liters of 5 or more puppies in 12 months is a lot on the bitches body) then please ; take it from a certified Vet Assistant, don't buy the dog! If you think I'm over reacting, keep in mind my main focus is shelter rehabilitation- I'm the one who cleans up an irresponsible pet owners/breeders mess & have a lot of horror stories. If you're not sure where to purchase a dog or what to look for, email me any questions & I'll help you the best way I can.

This puppy is a Pomsky (part Pomeranian part husky) names Dozer!

I refuse to eat crap food, and I would never in a million years expect my dogs to eat garbage…read moreeither. Lucky for me, Pet Lover's has the exact same philosophy. They only carry high quality foods. Stuff you would never find at the chain places. One of my dogs has some major food allergies and has to have gluten free and I can find a plethora of grain free foods here. What's more amazing than the quality of food, is the quality of customer service. The owner and all of his staff are some of the most AMAZING people I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with! They can tell you how the dog foods are cooked and why one method is better than the other. Or why one brand might be a better fit that another. Or that certain brands are simply a marketing company (coughcoughbluebuffalocoughcough) and have zero interest or control over the quality of food and your pet's health. The owner remembered us after not living in the area for 4 years and returning as a customer once we moved back and treated us like family as he always had. Amazing store and amazing people running it. You'll find: -quality dog food and products. -pet carriers -quality cat food and products -small critter supplies -fish and fish stuff -basically everything you will need for 4 legged kids If you care about your pet you need to come here and get educated about the food that you are feeding them. Support local. Check this place out, you will NOT be sorry!

Found this great little pet store while exploring the area. We are really picky about our pets…read moresnacks and eats so it was awesome to see he carried Fromms food AND Fromms treats. We get the food all the time but had never seen the treats! Grabbed a pack of the Parmesan cheese flavored for the girls. We also grabbed a bag of Bil Jack treats for them and I got the cats some spray cat nip for their new tree. All of that was just $25! I was totally impressed. The owner of the store was there and he was so friendly and welcoming. I totally would stop in here again... and even make the hour drive to visit him and his store. I love supporting small businesses and this one is well worth the support!

Great selection, great service…read more We came for an adoption event, though it was already over and almost all the animals were adopted. Looked around a bit (Baby K liked the hamsters and fish.) Got some training pads, then realized there were some clearance ones up front. Clerk was very friendly, and eagerly processed the return and got us on our way. Good to see a good pet supply store in Zanesville.

He does get matted in some places , we brush at least every day. I knew something was off the and they were very busy. I did tell Angela he had several matted area not large ones. And she said well we are just going to have to shave him down. No that's not her choice. My dog has long hair and she usually has no problem detangling him blowing him out and charging me the extra along with the tip I give her. Today she had an attitude from when we walked in. Then she said well do you just want to take him home? Well yes I do and I did! Like I would have let him be shaved down. She just did'nt want to deal with him. She knew he was on her schedule if she didn't want to do him she should have cancelled, but now we wont be back. And its hard to tell with her attitude how she would have treat him. Toby is only 8 months old and has been a regular. We have already found somewhere else. If she is unhappy with her job and taken care of peoples pet she should find another career. PS she has also told me in the past I wish all dog parents were like you.
