I was wrongly charged $115 for a blood sample screen in August 2022. My insurance ended up paying…read morefor it after I appealed the Ascension blood sample screen charge, but in the meantime while my appeal was under review, I paid Ascension's $115 charge. Big mistake. Now, after repeated efforts and a lot of my time to show Ascension how double payment for a single charge was made, and how Ascension owes me a full refund, they still cannot seem to get their act together. I had to call my bank to find out when my payment was sent, where it was sent to, when Ascension deposited my check in a bank in Minneapolis, and I even suppled Ascension with the Ascension account number at that bank. Then, Ascension disputed that my insurance company, United Health Care, paid Ascension for the $115 charge. An agent from UHC arranged a three-way phone call with the UHC agent, myself, and an Ascension customer service person to verify that UHC did make that $115 payment. Ascension still, still after at least 20 hours of my time and my insurer's time, still cannot manage to return my phone call, even though an Ascension person was assigned to my case and I was told last week, the third week in December 2022, that the assigned person would return my call. If you have a choice of hospital and/or health care systems, Ascension should be your last choice. Worst customer service I have experienced in my 67 years. If you want further proof, last week the New York Times did a front page story on Ascension's shoddy business practices and negligent customer service performance. A Pox on the House of Ascension.

I recently had the displeasure of visiting a friend in Ascension/Mercy's behavior health ward,…read morecryptically labeled only as "lab 5" in the hospital's interior directions. The treatment I personally witnessed there was horrible and inhumane. My friend was deprived of his perscribed medications by a psychiatrist whose information is unavailable through their website and whose credentials Mercy refuses to provide. He had all of his possessions taken away including his list of patients' rights. After all of this I watched a nurse with her nametag on backwards - so as to be unreadable - question why my friend couldn't name the nurse involved in the decision. As a point of fact, none of the nurses in behavior health had their nametags visible during this visit, and it's very clear that this is because of the rate of patient harassment. Even in the presence of myself and another friend nurses at Mercy were happy to outright lie, misrepresent hospital policies available on Mercy's website, try to trick my friend that was already deprived of his medications, and insist that his concerns about his stay were made up. Beyond being in violation of stated Mercy ethics policies and the laws set forth under the Department of Health and Human Services, the treatment my friend received is something no human being should ever be subject to. No one that cares about their loved ones should bring them to this place. It is Merciless.

I love the few Aurora doctors I have, but I will NEVER again go to their ER. I was wheeled in…read morescreaming in pain, was made to sit through intake as I'm screaming, and I was wheeled out screaming an hour later after being treated like a drug seeker. Two days later, I was taken by ambulance (still screaming) to Ascension Mercy and was admitted immediately for intractable pain. Apparently, Aurora needs an acute diagnosis in order to provide care and, if they can't get one from an x-ray, off you go. I never saw a doctor, only a PA who was cold as ice. I asked for a neurosurgeon and she said they didn't have one. The ORAL medication given to me while there was laughable. I was discharged because there was "nothing else they could do." Now I'm sure they have their protocol and probably followed it to the letter. But therein lies the problem. I felt, and told them, that this was cruelty to allow someone to suffer so horribly and do nothing. Are the policy makers completely devoid of empathy? Or does the DEA have its foot on the neck of healthcare? I don't care which, the result is the same. We lose. Ultimately, it is Aurora's loss. Ascension had me inpatient for a week, they gave me what was needed to help control my pain, Ascension at Home was there for me when I was discharged, and I am in my third month of PT. Their care was just that...care. Wonderful doctors and nurses. I had intended to change my PCP as I moved a distance from where her office was located. I was looking at Aurora because I had my cancer care there and they were wonderful. I also have an endocrinologist there who I would follow to the end of the earth. But I've chosen an Ascension doctor because I would NEVER again go through Aurora if I needed an ER. To add insult to injury, they've been billing me since January $1000 for that visit. I may reimburse them for the two tablets they provided me, de minimus as that is. I gratefully paid for the cancer care, and all the specialist's copays, but I will not pay to be treated like a fake and a junkie, much less left to suffer. Worst experience ever.

Warning! This may be a but graphic but this was my experience…read more Dr.Weiss was the doctor who took care of me. Unfortunately I do have a history to miscarriages. I was informative at the clinic that same day after my ultrasound. I was alone because my husband was working and I did not expect this outcome. As he told me the only thing I could hear was the words "we see no heartbeat". He held my hand as I was sobbing and stood with me as I asked him questions. This unfortunately isn't my first rodeo, in my mind I am just another patient to him. What changed my mind completely was 2 days after I going into the hospital and DR.Weiss came in to talk to me before my D & C. Then they took me back started to put me to sleep DR.Weiss was right there I asked in a soft voice "can you please pray for me" He took my hand and started praying, that moment I knew I wasn't just another patient, he cares, he actually cares. I give him the highest recommendation best DR. EVER. Thank you so much DR. Weiss!!!

I was seen 7 weeks later on the 3rd friday night in 'january 2021, got there about 6 pm, sat in a room for 5 hours or so, kept hitting the button & staff was real snotty & rude & kept telling me to be patient, then finally gave me a Toradol shot for pain & sent home & got home around midnight! The Doctor was real rude & kept repeating: "What do you want from us?", "Why do you keep coming here?" & "If the VA can't figure it out, what do you want us to do about it?" & I told him the VA is screwing Veterans up on prescription drugs & screwing them around! Then he gave me a Toradol shot for pain & sent home! I am 100% VA connected & get bills every few weeks & 4-6 phone calls every week for a year to a year & a half! Block the number & it changes to another number & starts up again! And pops up on my credit record & drops my credit score 35 points or so for every visit! The VA is responsible for the bills & they should put them on the VA's credit record, not mine!
