There I was, sitting at Clark's with a giant ice-cream cone, and I saw this produce stand basically in the yard of the antique store. I couldn't believe my eyes. The selection was pretty respectable: heirloom tomatoes, sweet peppers, green peppers, onions, beets, apples, giant zucchinis, small zucchinis, carrots, cucumbers, garlic, eggs, and possibly more that I'm forgetting about. By and large, the produce looks impeccable, and they have done brisk business on the first 2 days open. Prices are similar to what you'd pay at any suburban farmer's market, with the bonus of not having to actually be in Royal Oak or Birmingham: I got a giant zucchini and lovely green pepper for $2. It is perhaps a bit strange that you'd have a produce stand no more than 30 seconds away from a Hiller's Market - Hiller's produce is very good, and reasonably priced. But that's Berkley for you. They will be here every day until Halloween, and if you're at Clark's, or just in the area, it's definitely worth a visit! read more
