How can there be no reviews for this quaint, local library? It wasn't exactly love at first site;…read morehowever, now I absolutely love the Hillside library. First and foremost, I have to mention the outstanding service that is provided by the staff. The welcoming smiles and genuine interest in helping customers is what prompted me to write this review. Most of the staff know my name and greet me during each visit. If I have any "hold" items that come in, I don't even need to ask for them. The staff members at the front desk will have it ready for me when I check out. The Hillside library may not be the biggest library, but they have items that many other larger libraries don't have. They continuously update their inventory with newly released books, movies, music CDs, Wii games, and even XBox games! They also keep the community informed by publishing many of these updates in their newsletter. In addition to the current selections they offer, Hillside library also has a nice computer lab, various workshops and clubs, and wireless printing options. I love this wireless printing option. I have used it several times when (in a crunch) my printer wasn't cooperating with me. And at 10 cents a print...it is probably much more affordable than what I pay for those expensive ink cartridges. It is a nice cozy place to read, use the computer and utilize fantastic resources that your tax dollars go toward. Make the most of it.

You must make a coffee or bakery purchase any order to get this deal. This location in Oakbrook offers a wide selection of books, magazines, games, music, and gifts, you name it. A cafe that serves coffee, tea, bakery items and snacks. This bookstore is spacious. I like that you can pick out a book and find a quiet place to read. Very organized and easy to browse around and locate your favorite topic sections. There are so many book titles throughout the store. A nice place to come and pick out a good book or grab a magazine and sit back and enjoy the quiet and chill atmosphere. If you have any questions there are plenty of workers walking around willing to help. Even though it was busy and alot of people walking around. The atmosphere was still calm and peaceful. Go online and sign up for upcoming events and book club meetings.

They should have multiple registers throughout the store for checkout opportunity during this holiday season as the lines were extremely long. On a regular day I love the browsing opportunity. Layout of the store changes but that is to be expected. The Starbucks inside is normally a great read and sip moment. Also, great knowledgeable staff.

One of the many Frank Lloyd Wright houses on our list, we bought tickets while in town…read more I will say apart from the house being somewhat contradictory to many attributes that make up a Wright design, the house was very nice. The tour however was probably one of the weakest I have been to. Our guide was forgetful and really didn't go over the basics with the house as we are accustomed to with Wright tours: commission of the home, Wright himself, change of hands with home, and while walking thru it- design aspects chosen inside the home. There's three levels - you only get to see two, and the second floor is currently an office so it is hard to get a real feel for the place. Easily the weakest tour we have been on

I love the work of Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright, so touring this house made perfect since…read moreas both were involved in its design. The mansion is located in a gorgeous corner of the Gold Coast and represents an important part of the city's architectural story. That being said, it's not the most impressive historic house I've ever been in. In fact, it wasn't the most impressive one I went in on that day. For me, the things that made this tour worth doing were the small details like the windows, doors, wood screen in the hallway, and the fireplace surround. There aren't many rooms and the furnishings are not original. The textured walls seem odd and the lighting has been altered in several places (like he sconces). The tour guide was very knowledgeable, but they don't know much about the original owners due to their private nature. The building is now used as offices, so the upstairs bedrooms contain desks and bookshelves rather than being set as they were intended. It takes some imagination when you walk though them. The house is only open two days a week - Wed and Sat. I bought tickets I advance, but you can probably get them in person most times. I'm glad I went, it the friend who accompanied me thought it wasn't as impressive as the other houses we toured that afternoon.
