A little behind the times local company. No matter how good credit you have and even if your FICO is well above the 830 line you have to come up with a "deposit" of 250 dollars that they keep it for 2 years. I get it, they lost money to people that defaulted but 2 years? adjusted for inflation the way we go the buying power of the 250 will go down to 210
I am going to have electrical work done and I need the service to be disconnected for about 6 hours on a specific day, if they don't show up to disconnect the contractor charges me 250 for the second trip. So I called the coop back at the beginning of the year and asked them to schedule the disconnect and mail a confirmation letter. I kept calling for the last 30 days and they kept telling me it had been mailed, then they said they were going to mail again but their mailings only go out once a week and more and more stories.
I finally had to drive today and get the confirmation letter. Unfortunately a Utility company regardless of the the organizational structure is still a Utility and it is run just like a government bureaucracy even if they tell you that you are one of the member owners because it is a coop. With 96,000 members @ 250 per household it is almost two and a half million dollars and you won't spend 50 cents on a stamp? or how about email?
Haven't lost power in a long time so they must be doing something right and that is why I give them 4 even if I am disappointed for little stuff. read more
