We wanted a smaller, hands-on environment where Cleo would be able to socialize with dogs regularly. But also, be consistently observed to avoid things like dogs fighting or worry that they don't have enough water, etc. After a few years of weekly visits, The Barkmont has been a huge help to us. Knowing that we have a reliable daycare spot, Cleo has taken to it as well. She howls with excitement on the way to "school" (as we call it) and comes home pleasantly exhausted. In addition, their overnight services have been excellent and we're never concerned about how she's doing if we have to leave town for an evening. Highly recommend this spot in Berkeley for anyone looking for a dog daycare or boarding place.

She always runs right in when we drop her off and we can tell she has a lot of fun when we watch her on the webcam. Her latest stay was 2.5 weeks and while she was exhausted when we picked her up from playing so much she is very healthy and happy. In situations where our travel plans have delayed us in picking her up, they have always been incredibly kind and understanding. We started adding walks to her long stays so she gets some individual outside time in addition to all day inside playtime. I have nothing but good things to report about the Barkmont and they make being a dog owner in the Bay so much easier. I also think they are just really good people, I heard they now partner with local pet rescues to give their foster dogs some socialization and love. Makes us feel good supporting them. Their reviews were good and they are close to us, so we booked a four night stay for the July 4th holiday weekend. Drop-off went great ...but I was still a bit worried since it was his first time there. My concerns were all swiftly put to rest. Wendy and Mantin took amazing care of our pup, sent photos and videos (their place is very cute and charming with a lovely backyard). We just picked him up and he is very happy and well cared for. I am so glad I found them and would recommend without hesitation.

From the moment I dropped her off, I felt completely at ease. They were attentive, communicative, and genuinely invested in her comfort and well-being. I received regular updates, photos, and notes about how she was settling in, which meant the world to me. It's clear they understand dogs on an individual level -- their personalities, quirks, and routines. When I picked Lola up, she was relaxed, happy, and clearly well cared for. No stress, no overwhelm -- just a tired pup who had a great time. The facility was clean, safe, and thoughtfully run, and I appreciated how organized and responsive the staff were. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone who wants their dog cared for with kindness, consistency, and real attention to detail. Lola will definitely be coming back!

I was impressed with their website and reviews from other pet owners. Pam was great. She sent me updates and videos while I was out of town and it was very reassuring to know that Skylar was doing well. When I got back, Pam let me know that she found out that Skylar doesn't like other cats. She's an only cat so I had no idea. Happily, this will not present a problem for future visits since Pam told me that Critter Pet Care has provisions for cats who prefer to be by themselves. I will definitely recommend Critter Pet Care to anyone looking for someone to mind their furry family members.

Our family had been searching for the right cat boarding facility for quite some time, and after reading the excellent reviews for Critter Pet Care, choosing you was an easy decision. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by your beautiful facility, the attentive staff, and the genuine care you show every pet. Thank you again for making Dr. Robinson feel so comfortable and well cared for. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, and we'll definitely be back the next time we need boarding. The Complete Pack - This girl is gone now but I sure am grateful that she got to walk with Junko's pack through her golden years 3

On walk days, they are without a doubt, the highlight of my dog's day. My dog was not an easygoing social animal by any means. Skittish, afraid, and reactive. Over the years being in this pack has been nothing short of miraculous as I've seen her grow into a confident and communicative canine. When I travel for work, my dog gets to stay at "Aunt Junko's." It can't even count as dog boarding, as it's basically a vacation where she gets to hang out with her bf Bero. Junko's love for her pack and her passion for caring for dogs is tangible. As a protective owner who knows my dog isn't the type where I can just have a friend easily look after, I trust fully and unequivocally Junko and her team. I can't say enough good things about how much they have helped my dogs stay exercised, socialized, and balanced. I am very grateful for Junko's dedication and care of my dogs. All of my dogs have absolutely loved going out with the pack. After my two dogs passed away, we added our newest puppy during the shut-down and I was worried about how to socialize her properly. Junko helped by starting my 14 week-old on neighborhood walks with her own dogs and then progressed her to walking with the pack. My insecure, fearful puppy is now a confident, friendly, and social dog. And her recall is really coming along (thanks Junko, Antonio and Stephanie!) Junko has also helped with consultations and resources on all sorts of doggie-related issues.

For years my dog was there five days a week as I commuted into the City, and I always knew she was safe and happy there. Really the best facility for boarding dogs. M.A.B.

They claim to be positive reinforcement only, but I heard this from one of the two licensed dog behavioralists in the area. This tracks with talking to the boss and hearing her talk about the "alpha" which is antiquated terminology. long version - we were researching a place to board our dog, and went for the 1 month board and train. We then heard that they use punitive measures when training the dogs so in less than 24 hours we canceled. They take half the money as a deposit, which in this case was nearly $2500. We asked for a refund and they said no. They said it's in the contract, which it is, but they do not make it obvious, and certainly nobody told us that verbally. You really have to read that thing. They said we could use the money toward future services but as they use punitive measures we will not be working with them. So, they stole $2500 from us. Be careful of what you're getting into.
